The Team
This team was designed to provide good overall coverage whilst being able to cover each others flaws. It still suffers a few problems against certain teams but overall it functions quite nicely whilst including some lesser used Pokemon as well as some heavily used ones. Lets cut straight into the team shall we:
Charizard - Setup Sweeper
Charizard @ Charizardite X
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 248 HP / 152 Atk / 108 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Dragon Claw
- Flare Blitz
- Roost
Synergy
- Dragonite / Breloom
- Breloom
- Clefable
Charizard was the obvious first choice for my team, I wanted charizard simply because he can handle so many different things whilst having decent bulk. It would also mean I have now chosen my teams mega. EV's are the standard Bulky Offensive set allowing me to set up and roost as need be. and both moves being rather brutal stabs. I opted for Dragon claw instead of Outrage because I don't want to get locked in when flare blitz is so useful.
Clefable - Stall breaker
Clefable @ Life Orb
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SAtk
Bold Nature
- Calm Mind
- Moonblast
- Soft Boiled
- Flamethrower
Synergy
- Heatran
- Charizard X / Heatran / Starmie
my second choice was clefable, after trying clefable out on a previous team I realized how useful clefable could be. I am using the standard Magic guard set on clefable because it is extremely effective. The EVs are invested into Defence because the Poor Sp.Def is patched up after 1 or 2 Calm minds. Clefable Main niche on my team is to counter most stall pokemon thanks to its ability allowing it to setup in any stall Pokemon's faces.
Breloom - Lead/Revenge Killer
Breloom @ Focus Sash
Ability: Technician
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature
- Spore
- Bullet Seed
- Mach Punch
- Rock Tomb/Sword Dance
Synergy
- Heatran
- Heatran
- Heatran / Charizard X / Starmie / Dragonite
- Heatran / Starmie
- Heatran / Starmie
Breloom Is my revenge killer/Lead. Focus sash guarantees me at least one Spore per game generally. Max speed is to help patch up it's sloppy speed. The reason Sword Dance is slashed is because I am currently testing Rock tomb instead of sword dance although at the minute I would have to say Sword Dance is probably the better choice based on my play style.
Dragonite - Revenge Killer/Setup Sweeper
Dragonite @ Weakness Policy
Ability: Multiscale
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 Atk / 4 HP
Adamant Nature
- Extreme Speed
- Dragon Dance
- Outrage
- Fire Punch
Synergy
- Breloom
- Heatran / Starmie
- Clefable
Because Breloom is often my lead, I needed a back-up revenge killer and Dragonite was what came to mind. Weakness policy is extremely useful for turning dragonite into a deadly sweeper over the simplest of mistakes from an opponent. The move set was chosen to provide some coverage although Outrage Locks have been abused by opponents in the past.
Heatran - Stealth Rock
Heatran @ Expert Belt
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 SAtk / 252 HP / 4 SDef
Mild Nature
- Lava Plume
- Stealth Rock
- Earth Power
- Flash Cannon
Synergy
- Clefable / Starmie / Dragonite
- Breloom / Dragonite
- Starmie / Breloom / Dragonite
Every team can appreciate Stealth rocks, and I felt like having them available for use would be beneficial for my team. I also wanted a heavy hitting Special attacker and heatran fits both of these roles. I was not sure about an item to use so for now I have just stuck with expert belt so any suggestions would be cool. Earthpower is for facing other heatrans although with no speed investment it is quite risky.
Starmie - Spinner
Starmie @ Life Orb
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 SAtk / 4 SDef
Timid Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam
- Psyshock
- Rapid Spin
Synergy
- Charizard X / Heatran / Dragonite
- Heatran
- Charizard X / Heatran / Breloom / Dragonite
- Charizard X / Breloom
- Heatran / Breloom
I desperately needed a Spinner/Defogger and water coverage in my last slot. Starmie was the only pokemn i could think of that does both mentioned. Therefore starmie fills my last slot. The set focuses on speed and power with all the usual moves you would expect to see. Psyshock was chosen over Psychic to help deal with sDef walls if I was low on options.
Exportable:
So there is my team after building it I noticed it is essentially a Fairy/Dragon/Steel and a Fire/Water/Grass core which does have it's benefits when working around troublesome pokemon. It also Carries something to counter many of the big threats bar a few. Thanks for taking the time into looking and if you have any constructive criticism or just want to try the team out yourself then feel free.
