Competitive 4th Gen Team

Machamp: Lum Berry
No Guard
Dynamic Punch
Ice Punch
Bullet Punch
Payback
Adamant
EV:240HP 244Atk 16SpD 8Speed

Standard Lead Machamp. I only really have problems with Focus Sash/Counter leads, but this is by far one of my favorite Pokemon. Dynamic Punch gives absolute fits to all of my opponents and the need to counter Dragonite and Gliscor fits perfectly with his Ice Punch. I initially added him as a way to counter Blissey and have fallen in love with his utility and power. Easily the 2nd best Pokemon I use

Starmie:Life Orb
Natural Cure
Thunderbolt
Surf
Ice Beam
Recover
Timid
EV: 252SpA 252Speed 4HP

Starmie has saved the day a couple times. Unfortunately it is too often revenge killed after it has beaten one Pokemon. The mix of modest defenses and low HP is usually its death sentence as I find myself unable to sneak in a Recover before it is killed off. It provides a strong electric attack and a good STAB in Surf, but this is one of the Pokemon I am looking to replace.

Heatran:Shuca Berry
Flash Fire
Earth Power
Fire Blast
Stealth Rock
Explosion
Timid
252SpA 252Speed 4SpD

This guy fits together with my Lead Machamp quite well, resisting both his weaknesses and able to set up Stealth Rocks as well. Fire Blast is used for its needed power, and Explosion is used as a last resort. Explosion is the most important move on this set as I find myself either exploding and being satisfied with the results, or wishing I had blew it up when I had the chance to stop a sweeping Pokemon.

248.png
Tyranitar:Choice Scarf
Sand Stream
Crunch
Pursuit
Earthquake
Stone Edge
Jolly
EV: 4HP 252AtK 252Speed

I had tried an Adamant Bandtar before but the lack of speed considerably crippled its sweeping ability. I have found that this Jolly Scarftar is able to force a tremendous amount of switches (allowing it to abuse Pursuit) and can revenge kill like almost no other. Being able to outspeed Pokemon up to 115 base while boasting crushing attack and solid defenses allow this Pokemon to remain a nuisance to my opponent throughout the whole match.

Breloom:Toxic Orb
Poison Heal
Spore
Seed Bomb
Focus Punch
Substitute
Jolly
EV: 8HP 252Atk 248Speed

By far and away the MVP of my team. This little guy has used his Spore and Substitutes to outlast many opposing sweepers. The EV's and nature are set to make Breloom as fast as possible in order to land Spore against Pokemon who believe they should outspeed it. The strategy with him is this; bring in against Pokemon who it outspeeds or can survive a hit or two from, Spore, set up and begin firing off Focus Punches. Breloom guarantees that one Pokemon will be out of commission and will cause a fair amount of damage to any other that switches in as they either eat a Seed Bomb or a Focus Punch.

Scizor: Life Orb
Technician
Bug Bite
Swords Dance
Superpower
Bullet Punch
Adamant
EV: 4HP 252Atk 252Speed

If I can put a Swords Dance on this guy, the other team better look out. Superpower allows me to surprise Heatran switch ins who expect me to switch out while they Substitute/Stealth Rock, Bug Bite hits HARD Bullet Punch is his signature move. Unfortunately, every team I face carries a Scizor counter, so I am very tentative about bringing him out unless I have taken out his counter or I absolutely must use him. I love his Attack, priority moves, and diverse movepool, but the sheer amount of Pokemon my opponents tend to dedicate towards shutting him down is aggravating. Scizor is my hot/cold Pokemon. He will either sweep half the team, or get shut down immediately.

I am open for many suggestions regarding my team. Gyarados tends to give me problems once my Starmie has been killed but that is the only true dark spot I have encountered. I have used an Electivire, Ninjask, Lucario, and Togekiss but they have not synergized as well as these Pokemon. Breloom and Machamp form the Crux of my team with Heatran and Tyranitar proving invaluable along with them. I am iffy with Scizor and Starmie and have been considering using a Flygon/Gyarados instead. Please give me tips, suggestions to edit the existing Pokemon, and replacements to give me more type coverage/utility/etc

Well just a quick look but I would change Surf to Hydro Pump on Starmie because it needs the power to 2hko things like Swampert and 252 Hp Jirachi. Also switch the nature on Heatran to naive because explosion becomes a tad more powerful. And for Breloom put 4 more evs in hp so that it reaches the first toxic orb recovery number.

I have Breloom with those EV's so it outspeeds other Brelooms. I've heard about recovery numbers but I'm not sure exactly what they are.
