So here's the deal: I've loved Pokemon since I was 2, and it's always been my favorite thing ever. However I was always intimidated by terms like "EV Training" so I never tried the competitive environment. However, a couple weeks ago I found this site and decided to give it a shot. After a few days' work in between studying for my AP Exams, here's what I have (also I know my thread thingy lacks the flashy Pokemon avatars but Idk how to work them in, lol). I mainly just wanted to use some favorites of mine, and I have a basic strategy down.
Scrafty (female)
Item: Big Root
Nature: Careful
Ability: Shed Skin
EVs: 252 Sp. Defense, 252 HP, 4 Defense
-Drain Punch
-Bulk Up
-Rest
-Crunch
So I kinda use Scrafty as my beater. I've found that after a few Bulk-Ups, she's near impossible to kill, and max-PP'd Drain Punch along with Rest ensures that she stays alive for a while.
Bisharp (female)
Item: Muscle Band
Nature: Adamant
Ability: Defiant
EVs: 252 Attack, 252 Speed, 4 Sp. Defense
-Sucker Punch
-Swords Dance
-Brick Break
-Night Slash
Bisharp is my hit-and-run pokemon. I usually use her to finish off a weakened opponent with Sucker Punch, or if I'm able, set up with Swords Dance first. Break is there to take care of screens along with taking out other steel-types.
Rotom-W
Item: Life Orb
Nature: Modest
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 232 HP, 208 Speed, 68 Sp. Attack
-Pain Split
-Volt Switch
-Hydro Pump
-Will 'O Wisp
Rotom is my scoot for the team, Volt Switching in and out of battle. Pain Split is usually able to be abused combined with my high maximum HP and Life Orb, and Will 'O Wisp is there to disrupt physical attackers.
Whimsicott (female)
Item: Leftovers
Nature: Bold
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 252 Defense, 252 HP, 4 Special Defense
-Substitute
-Leech Seed
-Taunt
-Encore
Whimsicott is another wall for my team. I find that she can stay alive a long time and disrupt potential setups with Encore if I switch her in to, say, a Salamence or something trying to execute Swords Dance or whatnot. I WILL say that since I just finished EV-training it, I am still unfamiliar with the strategy of using Taunt and Substitute at the right times (since I've never actually used Substitute before).
Darmanitan (male)
Item: (haven't decided, might go with Choice Scarf or Choice Band).
Nature: Adamant
Ability: Sheer Force
EVs: 252 Speed, 252 Attack, 4 Special Defense
-Flare Blitz
-U-Turn
-Rock Slide
-Earthquake
I use Darmanitan as a speedy sweeper, since he can deal a LOT of damage very quickly with Flare Blitz. Also he's able to use Rock Slide pretty well due to his ability, which I have found can make short work of baddies like Skarmory.
Sigilyph (female)
Item: Flame Orb
Nature: Sassy
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 HP, 200 Defense, 56 Special Defense
-Cosmic Power
-Stored Power
-Roost
-Psycho Shift
The story behind this Sigilyph is my friend found it (shiny) in the Desert Resort. He vehemently dislikes Sigilyph as a Pokemon so he just gave it to me! :D I realize it doesn't have that great of a nature, but it's here because it means a lot to me, and the strategy is pretty effective. Stalling with Burn, Roost combined with the massive power of Stored Power after a few Cosmic Powers makes him an amazing special sweeper.
So that about wraps it up. This is my OU team, one that I have put a lot of time and work into. Idk how this forum's community or rules are towards newbies, so please feel free to leave comments and feedback, I'd like to enter some tournaments at some point, so this would be the team I choose! :D
