After breeding foar good iv's and ev training to my heart's content, I am currently in the process of building a decent team. Please give me feedback on how I may be able to do better with the pokemon I am currently using here.
Ariados
Ability: Insomnia
Item: Mental herb
Relaxed Nature
252 ev's (HP)
252 ev's (SpD)
Remainder (Def)
Moves:
Sucker Punch
Toxic Spikes
Sticky Web
Poison Jab
What?!? Ariados?!? It may seem strange to have a previously near-useless pokemon in standard play, but I feel that It may have some use as an entry hazard setter. It has access to both toxic spikes and sticky web so I feel that it could benefit my team in that regard. The ev spread gives it decent bulk and sucker punch gives it some offensive priority and poison jab gives it a stab attack to almost never use unless situationally. If there is another better move I could swap out poison jab for please inform me. Mental herb also prevents it from being taunted while insomnia prevents smeargle from sporing it. It is already pretty slow so a relaxed nature could be plausible.
Bastiodon
Item: Leftovers
Ability: Sturdy
Relaxed Nature
252 ev's (Hp)
156 ev's (Def)
100 ev's (SpD)
Moves:
Metal Burst
Protect/Roar
Rest
Sleep Talk
Another oddball choice. Since talonflame is running a muk (pokemon pun intended) online, I decided that a sneaky, pseudo-wobbufett strategy could be plausible. With titanic defences, sturdy, and metal burst; Bastiodon could work as a decent anti-attacker. It may seem gimmicky, but it has worked in practice. Sturdy helps it suicide KO earthquake users such as garchomp. The only real downside to Bastiodon In this situation are pokemon with ground or fighting coverage and mold-breaker. If up against pokemon of that sort it will be forced out. Case in point, Excadrill. It's rest-talk strategy is also very shaky, but roar may be able to remedy that sort of. Although protect can let it gain some health back with leftovers.
Ditto
Item: Choice Scarf
Ability: Imposter
No specific nature required
252 ev's (HP)
Moves:
Transform
My team is looking very sluggish right now, so I feel some speed would be nice. Specifically, a revenge killer. Ditto is one of my premier choices for a revenge killer on most of the teams I use (Some unfortunate soul once tried sweeping me with Deoxys-A) and can be extremely effective. Choice Scarf is mandatory as well as Imposter and max Hp. There isn't much else to say about Ditto, as this is it's only usable move set, but is still great; however, alongside sticky web, Ditto would not enjoy a speed drop so I could swap out Ditto for a different speedy threat.
Porygon2
Item: Eviolite
Ability: Trace
Relaxed Nature
252 ev's (Hp)
128 ev's (Def)
128 ev's (SpD)
Moves:
Thunderbolt
Ice Beam
Toxic
Recover
Porygon2 is a great defensive pokemon. It has the infamous BoltBeam combo and has fantastic defensive stats with the Eviolite. It's ability Trace is also helpful against intimidate users like Gyarados, Salemence, and Landorus-T. It doesn't need speed so I think a relaxed nature could be decent for it.
Avalugg
Item: Assault Vest
Ability: Own Tempo
Careful Nature
252 ev's (Hp)
252 ev's (SpD)
Remainder (Def)
Moves:
Rapid Spin
Avalanche
Earthquake
Crunch
It may have a poor typing for a traditional Rapid Spinner, But Avalugg's great bulk could allow it to moderate succeed. Max SpD and Hp ev's give it some decent mixed bulk while working ad an offensive spinner. It has pretty good coverage with Earthquake, Avalanche, and Crunch also. It should be worth noting at this point that a lot of pokemon I've posted so far are very uncommon because I'm using that to my advantage. More commonly seen pokemon are easily predicted.
Azumarill
Item: Expert Belt/Lum Berry
Ability: Huge Power
Adamant Nature
252 ev's (Hp)
252 ev's (Atk)
Remainder (SpD)
Moves:
Waterfall
Play Rough
Return/Aqua Jet
Superpower
My favourite pokemon of all time actually wasn't going to be on this list, but after carefully looking at my team so far, I noticed a big, glaring weakness to fighting. Since Azumarill is now a fairy type, I decided that a bulky Azumarill could be usable. I don't bother with Spe ev's because Azumarill is very slow (Trickzumarill was actually my Azumarill on my BW Trick Room team alongside Dusclops, Marowak, and Aron) So more bulk made more sense to me. Lum berry could protect it from burns or paralysis, but Expert belt could give it more damage output. Return also balances out the coverage, but priority Aqua Jet is also nice.
That is my plausible team so far! Please give me tips if you can :D
