Ok so its been a long time since I played competitvely and such, so I wanted to get back into the swing of things so, after noticing how much has changed I am jumping into a whole new pool of things, but enough the personal talk here is my current Sand team that I have tested a bit and plan to run for the time being seeing as how I used a sand team back then. Right now I am struggling to find someone to fill my last spot for my team I don't know what to put in that void. After taking a step back I lack priority and answers to anyhting with grass or ice. Any suggestions would be much appreciated, besides Genesect, I just personally don't like him.
Tyranitar
Sassy/Sand Stream
Item: Lum Berry
Crunch
Fire Blast
Ice Beam
Stealth Rock
252 HP/64 Sp A/ 192 SpD
A Sandstorm team isn't a Sandstorm team without your Streamer. I decided to go with a bulk build to survive any hits he may get at the opening of the match, he is to set his rocks out quick and get out of dodge just in case my Weather goes bye bye sometime between. I got the Lum Berry on him to protect him from any status happy inflictors, namely Will-O-Wisp. moving onto the moveset it is a fairy typical set, Fire Blast is their for most of his counters and checkers with a decent attack stat, plus the chance burn helps. Ice Beam just because of the horrendous amount of Dragon's in OU, His staple STAB Crunch is self explanatory and finally you of course got Stealth Rock to complete it
Garchomp
Jolly/Rough Skin
Item: Haban Berry
Outrage
Fire Fang
Earthquake
Swords Dance
4 HP/ 252 Attack/252 Spe
Ahhh the good ole Landshark of Doom, as you can see he is my BnB of the team, he can be sent out virtually anytime to ROFLStomp anything in his path. Most of the time people tend to switch into their walls, but by that time its too late, as soon as I get that 1 Swords Dance its pretty much over, the only threat to me is anything Scarfed with a Potent Ice Beam or HP Ice ready to trounce him. I have the Haban Berry on him to reduce the chance of him being KO'ed by the ever so prevalent D-Nite or Salamence. I got Fire Fang in their in Case I see the Thorn, Skarmory, Foretrss, Scizor, Metagross, or Genesect in an attempt to wall me, which brings me to why I use the berry I gate being Outrage locked by the choice items so, anyway, the other 3 are basically the usual, nothing much to explain about it
Gastrodon
Calm/Storm Drain
Item: Leftovers
Toxic
Recover
Ice Beam
Earth Power
252 HP/4 SpA/252 SpD
I didn't see this a lot in Sand teams today and I wondered why this thing is amazing! It virtually walls most rain teams. I usually swap into this as soon as my T-tar leaves simply because Scald is there to ruin my good ole Tar's day with a Burn and most of the time STAB. It virtually walls most of todays biggest water type threats with Storm Drain, plus if rain is up and I get the Drain boost, we pretty much got a Bulky Sweep in our hands. I chose to go the Ice Beam route over Scald, just for coverage, just in I get walled by the same thing or dragons showing their face in the picture
Gliscor
Impish/Poison Heal
Item: Toxic Orb
Toxic
Protect
Ice Fang
Earthquake
252 HP/ 184 Def/72 Spe
My Physical Tank, just their to wall any physical sweepers thrown my way. I got Ice Fang there to and to catch any outrage locked dragons off guard with the Ice Fang. Its also there for any flimsy counters, namely Gengar who has been giving me the most issues lately. I tend to go into protect to see if the Gengar is a Sub+Disable Gar, cause I need that Ice Fang, plus a Subbed, Gengar would just wreck my team disabling all the moves I need to hit hard with, so in short this is an anti Gengar pokemon, it also helps prevent Donphan's trying to plow their way through my defenses with Ice Shard, also it stops Kazam, Trio, or Espeon from setting up.
Reuniclus
Bold/Magic Guard
Item: Life Orb
Psychic
Recover
Calm Mind
Focus Blast
252 HP/ 252 Def/ SpA
My Mid/Late Game sweeper as soon as I get the 1 Calm Mind off, it is pretty much smooth sailing from their. As a fall back if my Chomp goes down early and I need to recover fast, most people think that SS teams have just their bulky or Setup sweeps they rely on I like to have fall backs just in case if it all goes down hill. Most of the time if my Chomp does go down their pokemon are already on the ropes exhausted and inflicted with status's to hinder then and Clus comes to clean up Seeing as how all the EV's have been invested in Def to ensure it surviving any physical torture it can get i need the Calm Mind's to get Clus up to par since it doesn't receive the SpD boost from weather.
