ORAS OU Completely Random Team (Peak 1500s)

I myself always loved to play the low ladder the teams were more unique (unconventional but humorous), because of that whenever I hit 1400+ I would go back down. People and teams became predicable and I lost interest with going higher. Alas though I felt like having some fun and seeing how much RNG liked me. The mega was selected through the use of a random generator, because why not.

Process I guess:

The Mega being

Lopunny.
I find Lopunny to be nice on hyper offensive teams a high speed stat paired with the high attack stat but is frail. So I just went standard with the set. Will get around to changing it later I told myself.

The next mon was a Metagross to pick up Lopunny's weaknesses. Made it a defensive wall to start with max attack to still do work against Fairies and fighting types after living a hit.

I had a Gyarados & Dugtrio in place of Garchomp here for awhile but found out shortly that my weakness for Metagross weren't beaten. Metagross became a standard AV set while Garchomp became my check with Lopunny.

Now having a 4x weakness to Ice I picked a Volcanion as it had a nice way to counter water types that had been ruining not long before. The pair of Garchomp and Volcanion a nice way to beat the choiced Rotoms. The unchoiced well that's a whole other problem. Volcanion is my special wallbreaker that wasn't there before.

This is thus the end of the process. I added two set up sweepers into my team clearing a big weakness I had for stall walls. This also made me change my Lopunny set (Finally). I made it a Substitute baton pass lead that would quickly end games in the lower ladder. Togekiss is also my defoger as rocks were starting to become a problem.

Team Member and Unpaid Job:

Furry (Lopunny-Mega) @ Lopunnite
Ability: Scrappy
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- High Jump Kick
- Substitute
- Return
- Baton Pass
I most times lead this Lopunny in most games unless I feel they are Hyper Offense. I do sub turn one as I hope they set up hazards. Then I just either KO the mon in front of me or baton pass out into Togekiss or Weavile to set up and do work. Not much else to it Max speed to speed tie with Manectric as it was giving me problems in the lower ladder. Switching to Adamant didn't give me any different KOs from what I could tell just made revenging easier. Have been tempted to go with a healing wish set as a second life for my Volcanion, but have so far decided against it.

Its a Spider Kill It (Metagross) @ Assault Vest
Ability: Clear Body
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 HP / 160 Atk / 96 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Zen Headbutt
- Meteor Mash
- Earthquake
- Bullet Punch
The only Shiny I allow on a team (since Victini can't be shiny). I have found this set to work well for me. Earthquake for Excadrill and Heatran who for some reason felt safe switching in. I wanted some form of priority against mons who run sash or are faster than my remaining mons. Has saved me more times than it should have. Then just plain duel STAB for hitting hard. I originally had pursuit over Bullet punch but I felt I wasn't using it to the best of its abilities so I switched it off. The spread is the common set for this AV mon all seems well so I didn't dwell on changing it.

I'm Hungry (Garchomp) @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Rough Skin
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Lax Nature
- Dragon Tail
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Fire Blast
Your common Rocky Helmet Chomp. My Bird counter for Lopunny along with my hazard setter. I found myself sacking this a lot after it does its job. Phaze mons out when they try to set up along with weaken physical sweepers for late game sweeping, which is either Weavile or Togekiss depending on remaining mons. Not much else to it besides Fire Blast for the people who forget to switch their Ferrothorn out (Happens sometimes). A change in set has crossed my mind but no clue what to change it to.

Ka-Boom (Volcanion) @ Choice Specs
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 248 HP / 252 SpA / 8 SpD
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Fire Blast
- Steam Eruption
- Sludge Wave
- Focus Blast
Much like the name implies I throw it in and I hope it blows something up. Haven't done much work into the spread just hit Fire Blast/Steam Eruption and see the HP bar drop. I run Sludge Wave over Earth Power for fairies and opposing Volcanion. The Focus Blast for Chansey so it doesn't get clicked much. If it knew other grass moves besides HP Grass and Solar Beam I would change it but alas it does not. I ran choice scarf for a while but wasn't hitting hard enough for my liking so I went to specs and haven't went back since.

Flying Chansey (Togekiss) @ Leftovers
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 248 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Air Slash
- Dazzling Gleam
- Nasty Plot
- Defog
My only way of removing hazards with defog. Air Slash for that STAB 60% flinch that I totally always get (Yea...no). Dazzling Gleam for all those Dragons that run through teams on this format. Natsy Plot for just random set up or for when I'm behind the Lopunny sub. Works well with the rest of the team as a semi-wall but also can put in work when needed. Was a random spread that PokemonShowdown suggested and it worked so no reason to change it.

Dark Ferit (Weavile) @ Life Orb
Ability: Pickpocket
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Icicle Crash
- Swords Dance
- Knock Off
- Low Kick
Do I truly need to explain? I set up behind a sub and 6-0 a team plain and simple. That is its main job besides a late game sweeper and revenge killer. Not much too it.

Known Threats:
Manectric-Mega outspeeds everything and with the right coverage can put in work on everything. Have found the easiest way is to hope to win a speed tie.
Rotom-Wash I have no way greatly dealing with this wall. A defensive one I would need to be at +2 with Weavile to even have a chance of OHKO. Can wall most of my team but if it is choiced I can bait a water or electric move with Volcanion & Garchomp and counter with the other.
Talonflame can be a problem without Chomp as with Priority Brave Bird with Flare Blitz puts in work.
Thundurus Does a similar thing to Manectric but it can T-Wave instead of simply out speeding me.

✧✧✧Hello, Anime_Fan here✧✧✧

Contrary to the title, this isn't a completely random team (lol). About your team, it has a strong build but...
  • There are some move-sets that need some slight adjustments.
  • You team is vulnerable to Rotom W and Tornadus-T cores.
  • The team suffers from Stealth Rock weakness (this is made worse because defogger is also weak to SR).
  • Metagross serves little purpose on your team. There better pursuit trappers out there that can handle psychics and ghosts.
And so, there are some tips that should really improve your team's performance:
garchomp.png
[Replace Garchomp]
Garchomp @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Rough Skin
EVs: 240 HP / 176 Def / 92 Spe
Impish Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Dragon Tail
- Fire Blast

I recommend a change from a Lax nature into an Impish nature; this will allow Garchomp to tank more hits. I understand a Lax nature preserves the power of Fire Blast, most pokemon that are weak to Fire Blast are often 2hko'd by it anyway. The following EV spread slightly increases Garchomp's Sp Def; a minor increase in Defence and Speed allows Garchomp to take hits and KO a +2 Bisharp.

klefki.png
[Replace Metagross]
Klefki @ Sitrus Berry / Leftovers
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 248 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD / 4 Spe
Calm Nature
- Thunder Wave
- Foul Play
- Magnet Rise
- Spikes

Klefki is another Pokemon that forms a great core with defensive Garchomp. It hazard-stacks with Garchomp and has some great synergy as well. Klefki also provides a form of speed control and hard-walls the Lati-twins, as well as opposing Weaviles.

latest

Lopunny @ Lopunnite
Ability: Limber
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Return
- Ice Punch
- Fake Out
- High Jump Kick

Seeing as your team is more offensive, you'll benefit from a more offensive Mega Lopunny. The use of Fake Out is a very important form of priority, and it gives you a means of beating weakened Talonflames. Ice Punch is also very important, because it stops Mega Lopunny from being walled by the likes of opposing Garchomps and defensive Landorus-T. And that's not all, this M-Lopunny set forms a great offensive core with the Togekiss Stall-Breaker set down below.

togekiss.png
[Replace Togekiss]
Togekiss @ Leftovers
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 248 HP / 84 Def / 176 Spe
Timid Nature
- Nasty Plot
- Air Slash
- Roost
- Heal Bell

Your team needs a way of breaking through stall and defensive teams, and Stall Breaker Togekiss fits the bill. This set completely breaks through Stall teams, and supports the team by removing status. So now you can afford to play a little more recklessly.

With these changes, hopefully your team should perform better in battle, have a nice day :)

PS: Weavile could also take on the role of Pursuit trapping, whilst the addition of Latios can provide offensive pressure and Defog support. Volcanion isn't really need on this team as Latios can beat most that Pokemon Volcanion destroys. Your team also has other way for beating Grass, Ground, Rock and Steel type Pokemon.
