Conkeldurr has a lot going for it to thrive in the OU metagame. With respectable bulk, a powerful STAB in the form of Close Combat, and a strong priority attack, Conkeldurr can really shine given the right support. Thanks to its ability Guts, Conkeldurr can become pseudo-immune to status and Knock Off once Flame Orb activates. Close Combat is its main STAB attack, and hits tremendously hard once boosted by Guts, allowing Conkeldurr to 2HKO Skarmory and Hippowdon. While less powerful, Drain Punch does provide some healing for Conkeldurr, increasing its lifespan throughout the match. Mach Punch is very useful in picking off weakened threats, such as Zeraora, Hydreigon, and Urshifu. Knock Off compliments Conkeldurr's STAB attacks, offering coverage against Ghost and Psychic-type attacks. Knock Off also provides utility for the rest of your team to capitalize on. Facade rounds off this set, allowing Conkeldurr to hit bulky Psychic and Poison-type Pokemon such as Slowbro and Toxapex.
Conkeldurr is best suited towards bulky offense and balance teams. Fairy-types such as Clefable and Togekiss are often the best checks to Conkeldurr, making teammates that can prey on these Pokemon good ideas. Ghost-types such as Gengar and Aegislash compliment Conkeldurr's typing, allowing them to beat Fairy and Psychic-types that can give Conkeldurr trouble. Due to Conkeldurr's meddling speed, Conkeldurr is rather easily revenge killed once it's worn down over the course of the battle. Because of this, entry hazard control in the form of Excadrill and Corviknight can be very beneficial. Both Excadrill and Corviknight are also able to check Fairy-types consistently. Bringing Conkeldurr safely through the use of Teleport is excellent support. Teleport Clefable in particular is also able to provide Wish support, keeping Conkeldurr healthy through the duration of the match. Lastly, strong special attackers such as Togekiss and Alakazam can often muscle through Conkeldurr, so pairing Conkeldurr up with a strong special wall such as Tyranitar or Blissey is a good idea.
