VGC CoRzzTheGod Needs You To Help Fix His First VGC team! (MegaGross team)

After pondering several possibilities as a Pokemon to build a team around, I decided to commit to Mega Metagross. It took me a little while to build this team because I, for the most part, have no idea what I'm doing. I'm just going by what other people have built and shared on forum sites like this and adding my own little touch. Without further ado:

Metagross @ Metagrossite
Ability: Clear Body
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Substitute
- Zen Headbutt
- Iron Head
- Protect

MegaGross hits hard. And by "hits hard", I mean he hits like a damn tank. I like using a Substitute with max EVs in HP so I can have a few safe rounds with MetaGross because he gets OHKO'd relatively easily with high damage dark and fire STABs. Other than that, I go for Zen Headbutt and Iron Head STABs for high damage and Fairy killing. I end it with Protect to deal with Fake Outs and other stuff MegaGross has to deal with that hurts.

Jellicent (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Cursed Body
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Calm Nature
- Scald
- Recover
- Will-O-Wisp
- Taunt

Jellicent is not a Pokemon I see very often on Showdown. I see way more Rotom-Wash for Will-O-Wisp but I like Jellicent's Recovery ability, makes him a huge headache. I think Jellicent walls just as good as Rotom-Wash, he just has an issue against Thundorus but there are ways to deal with him. Jellicent tanks every STAB move I've seen hit him so far, so I can get a free Will-O-Wisp and possibly Recover the next turn. I use Cursed Body because it can really mess with a player's gameplan if a STAB is Disabled.

Landorus-Therian @ Focus Sash
Ability: Intimidate
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Rock Slide
- Earthquake
- Superpower
- Protect

Landorus-Therian (aka Lando Calrissian because that's the only nickname you should have for him) deals with the "flying type" issue that many Pokemon have. He takes out Thundorus, Landorus, Charizard-Y, and many others. Lando is such a damn beast with Focus Sash...I almost refuse to use anything else (namely, Choice Band). I have won a couple battles specifically because he can't be OHKO'd and still slaps hard. I don't throw Choice Band on Lando because I don't want to be stuck using Earthquake when Rock Slide or Superpower is needed. Intimidate because every team needs one.

Suicune @ Chesto Berry
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 Def / 252 SpD / 4 Spe
Calm Nature
- Tailwind
- Scald
- Snarl
- Rest

Suicune, I feel, is the best tanky Tailwind Pokemon in the game. He has Scald for burn, Snarl to drop SpA, and I use a Chesto Resto set to keep him on the field longer to revamp Tailwind or for more stat drops. I used hella bulky EVs so Suicune can tank like a boss. Pressure because Water Absorb is pointless in the meta and Pressure can be helpful with low PP moves.

Gardevoir (F) @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Synchronize
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Calm Mind
- Moonblast
- Psychic
- Protect

Firstly, I love Gardevoir and there aren't many Psychic types I'd use over her. She is a great wall builder but I decided to use her for her SpA since I do not have a SpA sweeper yet on this team. Calm Mind for higher SpA and Spe, making her faster than most Pokemon in the meta. Moonblast and Psychic for STABs and I think Moonblast is one of the strongest moves in the game. Protect for..well...protection. Sitrus Berry for the added HP and Synchronize to lower Will-O-Wisp spam.

Heatran (F) @ Assault Vest
Ability: Flame Body
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 Spe
Modest Nature
- Lava Plume
- Flash Cannon
- Dragon Pulse
- Ancient Power

As I looked at my team, I had two glaring weaknesses - Grass and Ice. While neither of these types are too common in the meta, Heatran does do a great job dealing with the potential Mega Venusaur or what have you. Lava Plume for widespread damage, Flash Cannon for Steel STAB, Dragon Pulse to deal with Dragons and Ancient Power for fliers. I use Flame Body so Pokemon will have to resort to SpA damage to be safe from Burn and Assault Vest for added SpD.

Like I said, this is the first time I made and could use as much help as you guys are willing to hand me. I believe this team plays well, I just have a Speed issue. I have several Bulky Pokemon and Suicune's Tailwind deals with the Speed problem but if Suicune faints, I'm going to be slow.

I find many of my matches being close and my record is about average. I feel like it's mostly because of how new I am to the competitive game, coming from Call of Duty and Mortal Kombat.
Any and all help is appreciated.

Thanks!

Hey dude cool team :) I'm going to go through each Pokemon individually and give you my insight on them:
Metagross: Mega Metagross NEEDS max speed. I wouldn't trust the suggested spread thing on PS for VGC Pokemon spreads. You should use Max Speed Jolly nature for Mega Metagross. Other than that, it looks fine
Jellicent: Usually I only see Jelli on Trick Room teams so it's nice to see it on a non-TR team. I suggest changing Taunt on Jellicent to Shadow Ball as that gives you a secondary STAB as well as a soft check to Aegislash and opposing Mega Metagross. Sorry but I don't really use Jelli much outside of TR so I don't have a good EV spread for you.
Landorus: looks fine, personally i don't like Focus Sash on it since the only thing that can take it out is an Ice move anyways but that's up to preference I guess
Suicune: Rest suicune honestly is more of a singles kind of thing, since VGC games are so fast. You're much better off with Ice Beam on that slot to give you an answer to Mega Mence and Landorus as well as changing the item to Sitrus Berry. My suggested EV spread that you should use is 252 HP / 100 Def / 100 SpA /52 SpD / 4 Spe with a Bold nature
Gardevoir: Garde by itself is kind of bad tbh. You're much better off with something like Specs Sylveon with the moves Hyper Voice, Psyshock, Sleep Talk/Hyper Beam/Moonblast, Shadow Ball with an EV spread of 116 HP / 92 Def / 252 SpA / 48 Spe with a modest nature. There are a ton of Steel types/bulky mons/Pokemon that can OHKO garde easily this year so honestly it isn't the best to use right now. Set-Up moves like CM with a somewhat frail Pokemon like Garde isn't the best either.
Heatran: AV heatran imo doesn't really do much. You're much better off using Shuca/Chople Berry with the moves Protect, Flash Cannon, Earth Power, Heat Wave. Heat Wave is superior to Lava Plume because it's stronger and it doesn't hit your teammate either. Flash Cannon is STAB and Earth Power lets you beat opposing Heatrans. Flash Fire should be the ability cause currently Flame Body is unreleased. I would also change the EV spread to 72 HP / 252 SpA / 184 Spe with a Modest nature.

Other than that dude, your team looks great. Hope I helped and good luck with the team :]

Awesome dude, this helps a lot! I was thinking about replacing Jellicent because I only use him as a Will-O-Wisper. I was considering just doing the Rotom-Wash thing because that will take care of Water types that I have an issue with. Rain Dance teams seem to blow through Lando and Heatran obviously and I don't REALLY have an answer for them. So maybe I'll Will-O-Wisp, Hydro Pump, Thunderbolt, Protect on Rotom-Wash with Leftovers?

Yeah that's probably your best bet since you have Sitrus on Suicune already tho I guess you could replace the Sitrus with a rocky helmet since Rotom benefits more from the Sitrus. Rotom can't do much to ludicolo tho since he can just Giga drain rotom so if you want a definite answer to rain, you could use Ferrothorn

Which set are you thinking? I'm guessing a Leftovers set with Power Whip, Gyro Ball or Thunder Wave, Leech Seed, Protect? I don't have a leftovers Mon if I took out Jellicent.

You don't really need a leftovers mon since passive recovery is kind of bad in VGC. The games are fast so those HP that you recovered wont make much of a difference. Really the only time you use leftovers is when you've already used Sitrus berry and for Pokemon that use Substitute. For ferrothorn, I suggest using power whip, gyro ball, leech seed, and protect with 252 HP 208 Atk 52 Def brave nature

So Rocky Helmet on Suicune and Sitrus on Ferro?
