Covering Weaknesses...

Hey everybody, this is my second RMT EVER! Yay lol. I wanted to build this team around my defensive core of Latias, Tentacruel, and Ferrothorn. For my offense I really wanted to use Trick Room V-Create Victini as it's such an interesting set. (I saw this on a RMT, sorry I fogot whose it was, but it wasn't my idea) :naughty: And on with the team itself:

Dragonite @ Choice Band
Trait: Multiscale
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spd / 4 HP
Adamant Nature
- Superpower
- Dragon Claw
- Earthquake
- ExtremeSpeed

Choice Banded Dragonite is not to be joked with for sure. Banded Nite is nearly always my lead as its hard. I usually still save it for late game when I can abuse banded ESpeed to clean up.

Ferrothorn @ Rocky Helmet
Trait: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 Atk
Relaxed Nature
IVs: 0 Spd
- Stealth Rock
- Leech Seed
- Gyro Ball
- Curse

I really enjoy using a Curse + Gyro Ball Set. I usually set up Rocks at the start of the game and run leech seed considering that I run the combination of Rocky Helmet + Iron Barbs. Pretty self-explanatory but a set that has been working for me.

Tentacruel @ Black Sludge
Trait: Rain Dish
EVs: 252 HP / 236 SDef / 20 Spd
Calm Nature
- Rapid Spin
- Toxic Spikes
- Scald
- Protect
My Special Defensive wall and my spinner which is very much needed considering that I like to preserve Dnite's Multiscale, and the 25% that Victini loses every time it switches in although I save it for late game. A pretty standard set as I like to set TSpikes if I get the chance.

Latias (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 SDef / 96 HP / 156 SAtk / 4 Spd
Calm Nature
- Rest
- Dragon Pulse
- Psycho Shift
- Sleep Talk
This Latias is there to take what Ferrothorn and Tentacruel can't. Dragon Pulse is my standard attack and Rest+Sleep Talk, and sometimes if I get
lucky I can land Psycho Shift :D

Gengar @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 SAtk / 4 HP
Timid Nature
- Shadow Ball
- Thunderbolt
- Focus Blast
- Hidden Power [Ice]
I needed a scarfer and a spin blocker and went with Gengar. I'm not too certain with Gengar and kind of leaning towards replacing him with Latios. Anyhow, this is a scarfer with Shadow Ball for STAB, and the rest of the moves to hit for supereffective damage? Lol, wasn't sure how to state that.

Victini @ Charcoal
Trait: Victory Star
EVs: 252 Atk / 248 HP / 8 Def
Brave Nature
IVs: 0 Spd
- V-create
- Trick Room
- Bolt Strike
- Brick Break
When I first saw this set, it didn't seem too good, but I tried it and when I can get it to work, Victini just wrecks through. I start it off with a V-Create and then use Trick Room. After one V-Create and Trick-Room, I can practically out speed almost anything late game. Bolt Strike and Brick Break for things that resist V-Create. Charcoal for a boost on V-Create. :)

All criticism would be well appreciated. Also, I love abusing opponents weather with Victini's boosted V-Create and Tentacruel's Rain Dish :)

Importable:
Ferrothorn @ Rocky Helmet
Trait: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 Atk
Relaxed Nature
IVs: 0 Spd
- Stealth Rock
- Leech Seed
- Gyro Ball
- Curse

Latias (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 SDef / 96 HP / 156 SAtk / 4 Spd
Calm Nature
- Rest
- Dragon Pulse
- Psycho Shift
- Sleep Talk

Victini @ Charcoal
Trait: Victory Star
EVs: 252 Atk / 248 HP / 8 Def
Brave Nature
IVs: 0 Spd
- V-create
- Trick Room
- Bolt Strike
- Brick Break

Tentacruel @ Black Sludge
Trait: Rain Dish
EVs: 252 HP / 236 SDef / 20 Spd
Calm Nature
- Rapid Spin
- Toxic Spikes
- Scald
- Protect

Gengar @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 SAtk / 4 HP
Timid Nature
- Shadow Ball
- Thunderbolt
- Focus Blast
- Hidden Power [Ice]

Dragonite @ Choice Band
Trait: Multiscale
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spd / 4 HP
Adamant Nature
- Superpower
- Dragon Claw
- Earthquake
- ExtremeSpeed

nice team although when i first saw this team i could have sworn it was to be a rain team... dun dun duuurn
but its not :D
hears a few tidbits that should help.
1. give dragonite dragon dance and get rid of his choice band without dragon dance dragonite is neither fast enough nor strong enough to pull off a sweep if your going to use dragonite give him a life orb and dragon dance so as that he can rip through unprepared teams... and stuff
2. gengar really wont be needing any more speed so get rid of his scarf if he needs a choice item give him specs
3. get rid of charcoal on victini as viky needs all the power it can get and charcoal doesnt give a boost to the bolt strike or brick break, you may also wish to consider being a bit more extreme in that you throw more evs into sp atk and that you give vik a modest nature and get rid of its phisical moves.

apart from those things mentioned above this is a nice team with a good defensive core and few outstanding weaknesses. hope to see you around and i wish you all the best :)

Hi,

i see some potential on this team so ill give you some suggestion. I really like the idea of troom victini sweeping in the lategame, however i think some of your sets needs a tweak or two.
First of all, you have choice banded dragonite without outrage. While i understand you dont want to be locked, the damages it can do are too good to not use it. If you really want to use dragon claw, then you can try it instead of superpower, but not outrage.

Second thing, i think you can abuse more of hazards here. Having a spinblocker in the form of gengar i dont see reasons why not to use spikes on ferrothorn. With spikes you can put much pressure to your opponent, which can not spin against scarf gengar. Actually, i think curse its a very bad move for ferrothorn, which risks to be koed by a fire move no matter what, and steel is also resisted by a pletora of things, so i think that spikes instead of gyro ball is more than legit.

As for latias, i doubt your set will work. being asleep is very bad because you will have an almost dead pokemon for the rest of your battle, and all you can do is hope to psycho shift something (something that can only happen one time). Actually i would change it to a calm mind set with Substitute / Calm mind / Dragon pulse / Roost. While its not the best set in the today metagame, full of tyranitar and scizor, i think you can use it properly. In fact, all the checks for this sets (tyranitar, jirachi, scizor) doesnt like spikes and toxic spikes, and since those are things you already have in the team theres nothing wrong about using it.

As for your gengar, you probably want to try destiny bond instead of one of your coverage move. this will let you kill everything no matter what, it saved my ass a lot of times back when i used it with deo-d. I would probably use it instead of thunderbolt since it only hits gyarados but if you want to keep it then use thunder. Rain is everywhere, and even without it 70% of accuracy is not that bad if you need to ko a keldeo or something.

Last thing, i've had a lot of success with a different set of victini. In my weatherless teams i always like to put a random weather changing move to troll my opponent, and victini is the perfect member in your team to do so. Actually i think sunny day can fit very well instead of brick break, mainly for two reason. Brick break doesnt hit anything relevant hard. Heatran and tyranitar are the only things you want to hit with brick break, but bolt strike is only 15 base power weaker than it, so you are going to 2ko it anyway. Tyranitar takes a shitload of damage by a v-create boosted under sun, and btw you have to use victini in the lategame, where probalby tyranitar is already dead. The second reason is that with this set you can weaken any rain team, since they almost always lets die politoed because they dont need it. Sunny day can come in handy to stop those annoying pokemon like rain dish tentacruel and rain stall in general.

As the very very last thing i think you should use different spread on both ferrothorn and tentacruel. While i understand why you use max defense on ferrothorn, i think you also need to take less damage from hydro pump and draco meteor, so i would just go with the spread which is on site. As for tentacruel, i've always found the phisical bulk to be the most important thing for it. Its special defense is already high, and tentacruel really appreciates the bulk to take less damage from power whip of ferrothorn, close combat, weak ground attacks like gliscor's, and so on.
Thats all i have to say, gl.

Latias (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Calm Mind
- Substitute
- Dragon Pulse
- Roost

Ferrothorn (M) @ Rocky Helmet
Trait: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 88 Def / 168 SDef
Relaxed Nature (+Def, -Spd)
- Spikes
- Stealth Rock
- Leech Seed
- Gyro Ball

On dragonite: Dragon claw-->Outrage

On victini: Brick break--> Sunny day

On tentacruel: EVs: 252 HP / 236 Def / 20 Spd with bold nature over your current spread

On gengar: Thunderbolt--> Destiny bond

John:
1. The reason I don't run DD DNite is because it's usually my lead, with a band and max attack, DNite hits practically anything hard (plus Multiscale really helps out)
2. In the end, I went with Alakazam over Gengar despite the fact that I lose a spin blocker. Specs Alakzam w/ Magic Guard seemed like the better choice to me.
3. Personally, I think Charcoal is the best thing simply because a LO or Choice Item limits the Victini set.

Neliel: Thanks for the rate, and I've made some major changes after looking into your post. The first thing I did was get rid of Dragon Claw for Outrage lol.

I ended up replacing Gengar with Magic Guard Alakazam which just seems for feasible to my team. As for the Curse Ferrothorn set, it didn't work for too long where I just replaced Curse with Spikes, and Gyro Ball with Power Whip.

The Latias set doesn't work too often but when it does, it's always fun! However, in the end it's about having the competitive edge, and the calm mind set is defintely the way to go.

Thanks for the Tentacruel and Ferrothorn spreads and the Sunny Day addition on Victini, I'll defintely consider those.

John, running a modest nature on victini would be plain silly. It would lose out on v-create and bolt strike, and for the trick room set, charcoal is recommended
