With a Speed donation, Crawdaunt transforms from a slow wallbreaker into a terrifying sweeper. Between its naturally high Attack and Adaptability, Crawdaunt is able to threaten a large portion of the metagame with its powerful STAB moves; it notably 2HKOes defensive stalwarts like Landorus-T and Corviknight. Crabhammer and Knock Off have fantastic neutral coverage with only a few relevant exceptions, namely Tapu Fini and Urshifu-R. Swords Dance capitalizes on the numerous switches Crawdaunt forces, letting it boost past even the bulkiest of walls. Aqua Jet is useful to revenge kill faster foes. Its high Attack, Adaptability, and Choice Band give it tremendous power, letting it 2HKO all but the bulkiest of foes. Crabhammer is Crawdaunt's strongest move and breaks through many defensive stalwarts like Landorus-T, Corviknight, and Clefable. Knock Off has great neutral coverage with Crabhammer and has the added utility of removing items from switch-ins. Knock Off does lose power after the first hit, making Crabhammer a generally more reliable move. Close Combat hits Ferrothorn for significant damage, who would otherwise greatly annoy Crawdaunt once its item is removed. Aqua Jet revenge kills frail offensive threats like Tapu Koko and Zeraora as well as cleans up heavily weakened teams. Partners like Tapu Koko, Weavile, and Rillaboom enjoy the openings Crawdaunt creates and are excellent wincons to partner with Crawdaunt. Black Glasses or Mystic Water can be used on the Swords Dance set to avoid Life Orb recoil. Heavy-Duty Boots is also an option to avoid entry hazard damage, but damage amplification items are generally preferred. Liquidation is an option over Crabhammer for a perfectly accurate Water-type attack, but the extra power of Crabhammer is generally better. Dragon Dance can be used over Swords Dance, especially if Crawdaunt is receiving Speed from a slower god like Yveltal, but it is not nearly as immediately threatening as Swords Dance.
