Creation of Annoyance

So with all that said, do you think this team would hold up well?

Well...my second team posting here. The first one (a Hail Team based around Kyurem Set-Up and coverage) wasn't even commented on. Hopefully, that will change. Anyways, let's begin with my general set of rules I follow when Team Building. The biggest one is that I always keep a self-followed Item Clause Rule when Team Building to promote uniqueness and diversity. You can have a couple Hard Hitters and a couple Tanks, but you can't overload the entire team with either one. With that said, enjoy (though sorry about the lack of pictures; I'll update when I'm behind an actual computer and not an iPad :/ )

Team Lineup:

Flyin' Kid (Reuniclus) (M) @ Flame Orb
Trait: Magic Guard
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SDef
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Calm Mind
- Psyshock
- Recover
- Trick

In Black and White, this set was...STILL not familiar to everybody. This set has always been my personal favorite of all the Reuniclus Sets, even if nobody else likes it. Anyways, Reuniclus is THE definition of annoyance when used this way. Tricking a Flame Orb onto an opponent can completely ruin them, whether a wall or a Physical Attacker. The next set of business is to set up on Calm Mind and use Psyshock to attack and Recover to...well, Recover! This set has put common sights in a bit of pressure. Breloom, Scizor, Jirachi, Tyranitar, Jellicent, Skarmory--it has annoyed all of those Pokemon before (though Tyranitar still can't be touched). Once the crippling is complete, you can lay back with Leftovers and have some fun or hide until you're ready to Trick a Choice Band/Toxic Orb on a particularly annoying Pokemon like Alakazam, Latios, etc.

Rosebush (Ferrothorn) (F) @ Choice Band
Trait: Iron Barbs
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 Atk / 248 HP / 8 SDef
Brave Nature
IVs: 0 Spd
- Power Whip
- Spikes
- Bulldoze
- Gyro Ball

This is yet another marvel introduced in Black and White, yet was never seen again. I ask you this: How many times have you been Taunted when using Spikes? Well, no longer! With Rosebush here, Taunts from Jellicent are their own demise when meeting the wrong end of Power Whip, which promtly OHKOs each of them. Anything lacking a Fire Move dare not switch into Rosebush, as her thorns mean some business, particularly Gyro Ball. Despite only seeing use against faster foes, it still sees to it that those foes are alive no longer. Most of my personal OU Success came from the sheer annoyance of both Flyin' Kid and Rosebush, as when combined, the crippling of specific Pokemon and the confusion created with an unusual set makes these two combined my best core in the team.
As a final note, Spikes doesn't sound like the best thing to be locked on, but you can find Pokemon to set up on for that, particularly Skarmory that lacks Taunt (not mine ^_^ ).

Ram (Terrakion) @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Justified
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature
- Close Combat
- Stone Edge
- X-Scissor
- Zen Headbutt

I have this weird thing about reviving old sets or just plain making them up (I once made a Starmie hold Icy Rock for Hail, making it act as a secondary Weather Inducer). With that said, Ram, my Choice Scarf Terrakion, has been my personal favorite Revenge Killer. This mostly follows the set you'll find in the Smogon Breakdown, so go there for information...but there is one important twist: Zen Headbutt. Without it, the Poison and Fighting Pokemon that would love to switch in would wreck you. Zen Headbutt gives you an answer to Tentacruel, Conkeldurr, Breloom, the Nidos, etc. People switch Keldeo in to tank a Close Combat ONLY TO BE IMMEDIATELY DESTROYED! This makes Terrakion truly annoying to face in some battles. Sadly, it can't battle on its own, but the rest of the team makes for excellent support.

Mammoth (Mamoswine) (M) @ Life Orb
Trait: Thick Fat
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- Ice Shard
- Icicle Crash
- Stealth Rock

I...I lost my Mamoswine today in my Soul Silver Nuzlocke when battling Lance, so I'm still a little emotional over that. I'm sorry, but...Mamoswine is an absolute monster to behold. It is, as the Smogon Breakdown says, the best Anti-Meta Pokemon in the OU Tier. Every team needs at least 1 Stealth Rock user, and when the opportunity arrises, Mammoth can do so. Ice Shard is amazing Priority and has helped me defeat faster foes like Gengar. Icicle Crash...oh the head desking of this move. This and Earthquake creates serious Mindgames with opponents. Earthquake-Weak Pokemon, many times, switch out to their Dragonite for aid and immunity...only for my Prediction to be completely correct and I OHKO it with Icicle Crash, even with Multiscale up! With Life Orb, it gives Mammoth enough power to go against many foes and has even become a decent answer to Ninetales if Flyin' Kid is out and can't Calm Mind anyways. Now it's time for me to moarn the death of my Wookie in Soul Silver...

Spin Star (Starmie) @ Leftovers
Trait: Natural Cure
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 248 HP / 32 Def / 4 SAtk / 224 Spd
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Rapid Spin
- Recover
- Thunder Thunderbolt *Thanks*
- Hydro Pump

Is it bad to base a Pokemon off of one set and then throw twists in there? Well, I did it. At first, I wanted a typical Starmie, but I got immensely annoyed with Rain Teams. I then figured that I could just use Spin Star as I would a Rain Team Starmie...sort of. My personalized Rain Starmie holds Damp Rock and uses Rain Dance, but I digress. Anyways, Spin Star is my Rain Team Check. Hydro Pump does so much in the rain and Thunder is THUNDER HITS ALL! The best part about Spin Star is its role as the Team's Rapid Spinner, something that not many people put in their teams. I always need a Rapid Spinner or I'm guaranteed to lose. Starmie fits so many roles, even the ability to check Keldeo (I personally think that Keldeo is somewhat broken anyways).

Shadow (Gengar) (M) @ Black Sludge
Trait: Levitate
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Substitute
- Disable
- Shadow Ball
- Focus Blast

My team holds the honor of having both 1st Gen Pokemon that have stayed OU for their entire Lives. This is the one Gengar set I've grown to absolutely love: SubDisable Gengar. I've battled my fair share of battlers that were...pretty good at defeating every Pokemon in my Team, but then absolutely lose when Gengar comes out to play. Shadow here is responsible for about 20% of the Rage Quits--the other 80% comes from Flyin' Kid and Mammoth. Anyways, I can't add anything outside of the Smogon breakdown itself, but I'll say this: Disable a Choice-Locked Pokemon and they Struggle. You Sub enough and finish them off with Shadow Ball or Focus Blast. Of course, the combination can also force switches. Everybody keeps yelling that "Oh, Gengar sucks," but clearly never fought one themselves. It's quite fun to be using Shadow, as his mind games piss many-a-player off, and has remained my absolute favorite Pokemon since 1st Gen. ^_^

I have one big problem with Thunder on Starmie: if it goes up against sun, it loses a lot of usefulness. As a result, Thunderbolt may be a safer choice.

Yeah, I thought for a bit about that one because Thunder would be a significant trade for Power over Accuracy. Oddly enough, Lucky has been on my side when going against Sun Teams. I'll do a couple more battles and see if the switch is still worth it.

Nice team. I have a problem with mamoswine though. If it is your stealth rocker it gives Volcarona a huge hole to set up and wreak havoc on your team
and by switching out it means volcarona gets another boost leading it to +2 and wrecking your whole team. Giga drain easily OHKoes Terrakion after a +2.

To stop this I suggest giving Mamoswine Focus sash and Endeavor. It's a bit gimmicky but it works and it usually means volcarona isn't much of a problem after ice shard finishes it off.

Mammoth (Mamoswine) (M) @ Focus Sash
Trait: Thick Fat
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- Ice Shard
- Endeavor
- Stealth Rock

I'll give it a try tomorrow and see how it does. I think I can get my brother to help out with testing, too.
