ORAS NU [Creative title goes here]

Hi, there has been a while since I last posted a Rmt, if I'm not mistaken this will be my third NU rmt. And it's a pretty cool one btw. I wanted to build a team around AoA samurott because it has limited switch-ins and can destroy entire teams, so... that's it.

Samurott @ Life Orb
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam
- Megahorn
- Taunt

As I said, I wanted to build around AoA samurott. With a life orb it hits hard as hell and can break walls by preventing them from healing with taunt. It's also a cool spdef malamar check, because megahorn KO's it at +0/+1 and at +2 with some residual damage. Taunt prevents walls from healing. Naturally, I looked at what can check samurott to decide my new team member.

Golurk @ Colbur Berry
Ability: Iron Fist
EVs: 252 HP / 116 Atk / 140 Def
Impish Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Shadow Punch
- Drain Punch
- Fire Punch

Golurk provided stealth rock support, which is necessary in every competitive team. And is also a good check to tauros and archeops while being able to take a banded knock off from sneasel and three zen headbutts from tauros with the following EV spread and a colbur berry. Iron fist is the best ability for golurk, it gets a lot of punching moves, so iron fist makes it a good tank.

Fletchinder
Ability: Gale Wings
EVs: 144 HP / 252 Atk / 112 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Acrobatics
- Will-O-Wisp
- Swords Dance
- Roost

Atm I was getting 2-0'd by lilligant, and fletchinder provided a grass resist to synergize well with samu and lurk. It's a really standard spread that lets you outspeed max speed base 70 without a boosting nature while giving you some bulk. Will-o-wisp is prefered to hit common checks in the switch. It can cripple lanturn, rhydon, regirock and other things. It's also a good revenge killer for fighting types like sawk and gallade.

Sandslash @ Leftovers
Ability: Sand Veil
EVs: 172 HP / 252 Atk / 84 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Knock Off
- Rapid Spin
- Stone Edge
- Earthquake

I needed a spinner because I was using fletch. Sandslash unfortunately gives me another water weakness, but has the ability to catch standard lanturns in doubles to OHKO it with EQ. Stone edge KO's fletchinder and flying types that may come in against an expected EQ. Knock off is pretty obvious, best move in the game that can hit things like vileplume.

Ferroseed @ Eviolite
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 88 Def / 168 SpD
Relaxed Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Spikes
- Leech Seed
- Gyro Ball
- Knock Off

I was looking a bit weak to kabutops and a late game klinklang, so ferroseed entered the team to provide spikes support and also to give me a nice AoA samurott switch-in. This mixed spread lets me take hits on both defensive sides. And knock off over protect or t-wave is to help me against things like xatu.

Mesprit @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Psychic
- Healing Wish
- U-turn
- Dazzling Gleam

Scarf mesprit seemed really cool because of healing wish and a powerful spammable stab move + a nice coverage for dark types + u-turn to switch out when the counter comes in. Timid is weak, so modest is the way to go, you still outspeed swellow with a modest scarf anyways. It's also another revenge killer outside of fletchinder, I can't let the burd do everything so that's another reason to add mesprit.

Samurott @ Life Orb
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam
- Megahorn
- Taunt

Golurk @ Colbur Berry
Ability: Iron Fist
EVs: 252 HP / 116 Atk / 140 Def
Impish Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Shadow Punch
- Drain Punch
- Fire Punch

Fletchinder
Ability: Gale Wings
EVs: 144 HP / 252 Atk / 112 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Acrobatics
- Will-O-Wisp
- Swords Dance
- Roost

Sandslash @ Leftovers
Ability: Sand Veil
EVs: 172 HP / 252 Atk / 84 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Knock Off
- Rapid Spin
- Stone Edge
- Earthquake

Ferroseed @ Eviolite
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 88 Def / 168 SpD
Relaxed Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Spikes
- Leech Seed
- Gyro Ball
- Knock Off

Mesprit @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Psychic
- Healing Wish
- U-turn
- Dazzling Gleam

Hey bro,

Cool looking team you have here. All Out Attacking Samurott is severly underated in NU this generation, and its good someone like you have spotted this and want to use it to the fullest of its effect. I like the hazards stacking core you have, but i feel like you put to much emphasis on normal type physical attackers, and loads of mons like Kangaskhan, have like 2 or 3 checks on your team. This isnt usually a problem, but the fact you are missing checks to vital pokemon that arent bad in the meta is what scares me most at the minute. I see a glaring weakness to Magmortar, since whenever it gets a free switch on, for example, ferroseed, Fire Blast + Tbolt is way to difficult for your team to switch into. Every time it comes in, it will do huge damage to your team. Other mons lacking checks in your team include the cm psychics, mainly Xatu especially if Uxie or Xatu carry grass coverage (not too uncommon imo) they just tear through your team. Other things to worry about are Sneasel where knock off does a huge number to your team. Klinklang is also a problem. Substitute sets settup all over Mesprit and Ferroseed and proceed to beat you if Golurk becomes even slightly weakened, which would be very hard not to happen.

As far as your defenses are concerned, Sandslash to me is quite redundant in checking mons on your team. It shares a ground type with Golurk, and the only real benefit you get from it is spin support. As a result, i feel like if you replaced Sandslash with a mon like Archeops, it would greatly benefit your team. Offensive Defog Archeops > Sandslash performs many vital utilities that were previously incapable by Sandslash. First and foremost, Archeops is a much faster defogger, in fact, fast enough to outspeed every relevant fire type in the tier and force them out with either a high powered acrobatics or earthquake / stone edge. This deals with your Magmortar weakness and helps your main win-condition, fletchinder to be able to sweep. If you are feeling cheeky, you could even run aqua tail as your second coverage move to hit rhydon, but thats not neccesary.

Thats all for mon changes, now ill try and correct the more niggly changes, like EV spreads, so your team is more efficient with dealing with each mon. First up is Samurott. AoA Samurott is normally Life Orb 3 Special Attacks + AJ > your current set. Megahorn on the AoA set doesnt really bop anything in particular, and generally, Samu prefers the grass coverage to hit bulky water types e.g. Quagsire. Aqua Jet is used in the filler as nice priority, and besides Fletch's acrobatics, your team lacks in this aspect as well. I would also suggest running 8 Attack EVs on Ferroseed, so that it can 2HKO Klinklangs Substitute 100% of the time. I will also suggest running Earthquake > Fire Punch / Drain Punch on Golurk. Earthquake is a neccesary coverage move on golurk, and together with shadow punch, basically lets Golurk hit the entire tier for neutral damage with its substitute. Lastly, i would suggest running Thunderbolt > Dazzling Gleam as your coverage move on Mesprit. This is because Mesprit hits much more of the tier for neutral damage with Thunderbolt than it does with dazzling gleam. You can also now switch it in on Scalds from Waters such as prinplup and proceed to hit back with Thunderbolt. Its overall easier to use coverage move than the afformentioned Dazzling Gleam, which doesnt hit anything relevant that Uturn doesnt already. It also lets you check the ever-prominent Xatu with Thunderbolt now, even if it gets up a free CM. Overall now, Sneasel isnt as much of a threat as it was in the beginning. It has a lot fewer settup oppurtuinities and chances to just click Knock Off. It should be easier to handle than it was before.

Archeops
Ability: Defeatist
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Acrobatics
- Earthquake / Stone Edge / Aqua Tail
- Roost
- Defog

Samurott @ Life Orb
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam
- Grass Knot
- Aqua Jet

good luck with your team in the future, hope it goes well for you :]
yours in mons,
~HJAD
