With Levitate, Cresselia provides an immunity to the likes of Great Tusk's Headlong Rush, which is hard to find on sun teams and which partners like Iron Moth, Ninetales, and Raging Bolt greatly appreciate. Moonlight lets Cresselia stay healthy throughout the game, unlike Hatterene which can play a similar role with Healing Wish but lacks reliable recovery. Thunder Wave is used to cripple offensive threats like Dragonite, Ogerpon-W, and Iron Valiant. Ice Beam is the attack of choice and threatens Gliscor and Dragonite. With 52 Speed EVs Cresselia outspeeds Kingambit, allowing it to pull off a Thunder Wave or Lunar Dance before Kingambit can retaliate. Tera Steel provides Cresselia with a resistance to Fairy- and Dragon-type attacks like Dragapult's Draco Meteor and Iron Valiant's Moonblast, which fellow sun teammates like Raging Bolt, Walking Wake, and Great Tusk struggle against. In turn, these Pokemon take on the likes of Gholdengo and Ting-Lu which Cresselia finds itself helpless against.
