Critical Hits

Do Razor Claw and Scope Lens do the same thing?
If Absol (w/Super Luck) use Night Slash (JP Name: Blade Test), what are the odds of critical hit if holding one of the above items?

Hm.... its a shame Absol can't learn Focus Energy.
So Absol + Super Luck + Night Slash + Scope Lens= 50% critical hit chance.... insteresting...

oh ick ._.
that would have been cool to use Focus Energy on it and have 100% crit rate on a STABed Physical move off of Absol's base Atk...

yeah but 50% is pretty good. I think Im gonna use Night Slash, Mean Look, Perish Song, and Aerial Ace. Aerial Ace beats both Absol's weaknesses and in case of trouble (steel types) I use Mean Look, hope I live, Perish Song, switch into a pokemon that knows Protect, and Protect/Detect until it feints.

Absol isn't likely to survive for long enough to get Perish Song to work either. Mean Look/Baton Pass/Night Slash/Psycho Cut could work ok, provided you trap something slower.

Jynx, Gengar and Mismagius can pull it off to an extent as they have sleep inducing moves - Absol doesn't.

Anyway, I'm getting way off topic now unless this has become an Absol discussion thread while I wasn't looking.

Your thinking of Umbreon (i love the little thing)
It just rips stall teams apart like a T-rex on steroids!

IIRC, Mismagius does not have a sleep inducing move...

Maybe he's thinking of GSC Misdreavus. It got Hypnosis from the NYPC.

Mismagius has Pain Split for its recovery anyway, which Absol doesn't get.

You don't need the scope lens for absol.

Every offensive move has 1 critical level

Super luck adds 1 critical level(same with scope)

Nightslash(and the other high crit moves) have 3 crit levels

1+1+3=5

Max crit level is 5(50%)

So you should use a salec berry with Absol.

This should go in the absol discussion topic, but whatever, when you're talking about the best crit sweeper, only the most topics!

Nightslash(and the other high crit moves) have 3 crit levels
Even if you're correct (I'm certain they have 2, and each 1 is 12.5%), they have 3, which means they don't add the one that you say every offensive move has. Add one from Super Luck and you get 1 + 3 = 4.

Every move always has a default 1 critical.

1+1+3

Although, we can't know for sure unless we test it, I'm pretty sure that's how it goes.

Essentially, 5 levels. Okay, that's nice. I see where I was wrong. Counted the 3 as 3 instead of 1+3, and then used the 1. Okay, so scope lens should be used.

Thanks, although I'm kinda sad about not being able to use salec berry.

Yeah, but it's not like having 50% CH is like having 50% increased damage. Even if you were always faster, you wouldn't necessarily power through everything before they could hit you, unfortunately. But Absol is cool, oh yes.

The glory of criticals is going through Curse/BulkUp/IronDefense defenses, of course. It really is like having 50% more damage though, seeing as how half the time you have 1, half the time you have 2, the average is 1.5x. Additionally, criticals are never "truly" expected. They can take out people who use Recover/SlackOff to heal by criticalling twice in a row, for example.

Now the REAL crit abusers are Kingdra/Octillery/Raperaperapion. Snipe is ungodly. Even with one less "level" of critical due to no Strong Luck, double critical is obscene. Two crits in a row kills everything. Everything.

Problem is that two HITS in row can kill anything if they come from the right pokemon. All crits do is add a static amount of unpredictability (interesting phrase yes) to the game, making them a shaky thing to base a pokemon's average damage output on.
