Checks & Counters
########
**Special Attackers**: Strong special attackers can take advantage of Crustle's low Special Defense and deal heavy damage. Clawitzer doesn't take much from any of Crustle's moves and can OHKO back with Water Pulse provided Sturdy is broken, making it an effective check.
**Status**: All status hurts Crustle; burns half its Attack and wears it down, Toxic wears it down quickly, and paralysis stops the Shell Smash set's sweeping capabilities
**Bronzong**: Crustle can't do anything to Bronzong, and Bronzong can use Toxic or set up Stealth Rock or Trick Room
**Taunt Users**: Taunt users such as Mega Banette can stop Crustle from setting up entry hazards or Shell Smash.
**Physical Walls**: Physical walls, especially Steel-types such as Steelix, can stop Crustle's sweep with little effort.
**Trick and Switcheroo users**: Trick and Switcheroo users such as Rotom-C and Delphox can severely cripple Crustle as they can lock it into a hazard move, Shell Smash, or make it essentially useless if it is given a Choice Scarf as Crustle has very low Speed.
########

Defensive
########
name: Defensive
move 1: Stealth Rock
move 2: Spikes
move 3: Stone Edge / Rock Blast
move 4: X-Scissor / Toxic
ability: Sturdy
item: Leftovers / Mental Herb
evs: 224 HP / 252 Def / 32 SpD
nature: Impish
Moves
========
- Stealth Rock is for damaging opponents that switch in, potentially crippling them
- Spikes deals additional damage when switching in
- Rock Blast is useful for breaking Substitutes and Focus Sashes
- Stone Edge can be used for more reliable power, but is less accurate and does not get past Focus Sash
- X-Scissor is a reliable STAB move
- Toxic can be used to stall for residual damage
Set Details
========
- HP EVs provide a Leftovers number with an extra point to round down Stealth Rock damage
- Maximized defense to take physical hits to the best of its ability
- Impish nature to add to its Defense
- Rest is invested in Special Defense
- Leftovers for residual recovery
- Mental Herb can be used to guarantee a hazard is set up
Usage Tips
========
- Setting up Stealth Rock is the number one priority, followed by Spikes
- Can come in on physical hits and begin setting hazards
- Can wall physical attackers
- Should be used in the early-game to set up hazards as fast as possible for the rest of the match
Team Options
========
- Pokemon with good Special Defense to come in on Crustle's weaker side
- Offensive Pokemon that appreciate the hazards Crustle sets
- Pokemon that provide Wish support, as Crustle has no reliable recoveru
Shell Smash
########
name: Shell Smash
move 1: Shell Smash
move 2: Stone Edge
move 3: X-Scissor
move 4: Earthquake
ability: Sturdy
item: White Herb / Life Orb
evs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
nature: Adamant
Moves
========
- Shell Smash is used to instantly boost to +2 in Attack and Speed
- Stone Edge is Crustle's most powerful STAB move
- X-Scissor is a more reliable secondary STAB move
- Earthquake is helpful for coverage
- Knock Off is decently powerful and removes the opponent's item
Set Details
========
- EVs and nature maximize Attack and Speed, the most important stats for a Shell Smash sweeper
- White Herb clears the drop to its defenses
- Life Orb can be used for the extra power it provides
Usage Tips
========
- Switch in on something it can force out and use Shell Smash
- Try to come in off of a U-turn, Volt Switch, a KOed team member, or a resisted hit as Crustle does not like taking more damage than it needs to, especially if it chooses to use Life Orb
- Boosts from Shell Smash make it an effective sweeper as well as a wallbreaker
Team Options
========
- Pokemon with U-turn, Volt Switch, or Baton Pass to help Crustle come in
- Users of aforementioned moves should be slow to get Crustle in as much as possible
- Pokemon that can remove physically bulky opponents such as Gligar, Alomomola, and Doublade
Other Options
########
- Poison Jab can be used to hit Fairies hard, but offers no utility outside of that
- Aerial Ace can be used to hit Fighting-types
- Counter can be used to hit physical attackers hard, but requires prediction and Crustle has a high Defense stat
