It was a rare thing to earn the Karate Master’s respect, and all of his pupils knew that it was the perfect time to show what they could do. Every idea was transformed by the excitement of all who watched. Sounds of applause and laughter filled the air. Finally, after everyone is finished, the Master claps once. The students of the dojo turn to listen to what he is about to say. He selects three of the students, and they come to stand by his side. “Teach this trainer what you have learned at the Iron Fist Dojo.” He smiles proudly while the students begin to show the trainer their knowledge in full.

Congrats ARandomPerson for winning with Swarm Attack!
Move Name: Swarm Attack
Typing:
1642047949913.png

BP: 20
PP: 10 (Max 16)
Accuracy: 90
Secondary Effects / Effects: Inflicts damage, hitting the target up to three times per use. Its base power will increase by 10 with each successive strike, so the first, second, and third strikes have powers of 20, 30 and 40, respectively. Each hit has a 10% chance to decrease def by 1.
Suggested Distribution: :Scyther: :Scizor: :Heracross: :Pinsir: :Forretress: :Beedrill: :Ariados: :Yanma: :Ledian: :Parasect: :Crobat: Line (They're also known for swarming things so it fits)
This move's main purpose is to be a stronger bug stab than hidden power while still giving Megahorn it's place as the best bug move. It's multi hit nature is both a blessing and a curse. Since it has an accuracy check for each hit (Like triple kick or the future triple axel), It's effective accuracy is 73%, which is just slightly more accurate than thunder (And the future focus blast). However, each hit also has a chance to lower the target's def, giving it an effective 27% chance to do so (Again, similar to thunder's 30% paralysis rate). This can be great for forcing switches. Not to mention, each hit also has a separate chance to crit with a rate of about 19 percent. All this leads to a fun and unpredictable yet reliable move to use. It's flavor is mostly just based on swarms of bugs. I would think that the Pokémon using this move calls a swarm of bugs to help them attack or attacks as if they were part of a swarm. Also thank god technician doesn't exist yet
1642614747509.png

Congrats Ema Skye for winning with Black Hole!
Move Name: Black Hole
Typing: Dark
BP: 100
PP: 5/6/7/8
Accuracy: 100
Secondary Effects: Sets a 'Black Hole timer' for 3 turns. After 3 turns, both active Pokemon are damaged by the move. Damage is calculated with halved Special Defense and it isn't affected by STAB.
Suggested Distribution: :umbreon: :houndoom: :murkrow: :clefable:
Pretty cool Perish Song/Future Sight/Explosion hybrid. It has the same timer as Perish Song, can't be blocked like Future Sight and has its power doubled like Explosion. This move does require the right team support to use, as you will need a Pokemon able to survive the Black Hole (as Future Sight doesn't block Protect, so it has to take the damage, but, like Future Sight this gen, it doesn't get a STAB boost).
1642614795261.png

and
Congrats Lord Zorz for winning with Parry!
1642091924284.png
Move Name: Parry
Typing:

BP: -
PP: 8
Accuracy: -

Effect: When used, the text “x is attempting to Parry!” will pop up at the start of a turn, if the move fails the text “But x failed to parry!”.
When hit by a move, the damage is reduced by 20-30%, and the user uses one of their other 3 moves, akin to SleepTalk.
If this move fails, another PP is drained from the move.

Known Bug: If this move is called by Sleep Talk, even when the user is faster, the failstate is still achieved, making stalling with the two moves fail and just draining PP from Sleep Talk.

The move functions like Protect/Detect in the sense that repeated uses have a chance to outright fail with the chances of success halving each successful attempt.
Suggested Distribution: :machamp: :electabuzz: :golduck: :magmar: :Primeape: :hitmonlee: :hitmonchan: :hitmontop:
The Parry, a tried and true fighting game mechanic found in some of the greatest--It's a move that can put you into extreme advantage or give you a chance of pivoting momentum back in your favor.
All 'mons sans Machamp can struggle a lot in OU and require too much support to really feasibly be put on a team, but, with the ability to Parry, they can turn a number of situations where they'd simply be 2HKO'd(due to crummy defensive stats) to instead be 3HKO'd instead, the list includes all Cross Chop applicable 'mons(hence Machamps inclusion), as well as all 3 of the hitmons, and allows them to carve out their own niches even when compared to one another.
As a small example, Machamp is slower, while Primeape is faster, in situations where Machamp is 2HKO'd, he can choose to parry on either of his turns to instead be 3HKO'd, while Primeape can be even OHKO'd! Thankfully with a parry, this can change, and using their speed they can instead threaten their own 2HKO.
This is simply scratching the surface with the move. reducing damage and having more lefties recovery is always nice, but when used in a way to stall, the PP is drained. Not entirely impossible strategy but unintelligent abuse is discouraged.
The flavor of this move is the user taking the brunt of the attack with their palm in a defensive stance, and quickly countering with their own move.
1642614862077.png

There will be a short discussion period in our discord server where we'll discuss the distribution of the winning moves, so feel free to join us and share your thoughts!

Our next slate will be a custom items slate. Slate 3 will officially open later today, so please do not post submissions yet. Otherwise, hope you all have a great day!

ninjala-ninjala-season6trailer.gif
In the waters of Johto lies the most magnificent treasures known to mankind. The Sunken Chest, as it is known, has great power that one cannot imagine. The finest crafts of fallen kingdoms are kept inside this unbreakable chest. It is said that the chest carries great weight, holding dozens of gold coins, crowns, and even advanced crafting tools, and that its discovery will allow Johto to prosper greatly. But the most precious treasures are never talked about. It was theorized in only one article out of millions, written by Professor Fuji's father: "The Sunken Chest carries some of the best, most prized signature items for trainers to train their Pokémon with. What makes these items so powerful is currently unknown. Maybe they're enchanted, or maybe...” By tkmof~11209

Prompt:pikachu:
You have been tasked with creating Signature Items - You can create up to three submissions.

Each submission must contain a new signature item for a Pokémon/Pokémon line (at max two signature items can be given to a Pokémon/Pokémon line (similarly to Ditto's signatures)). -This is unnecessary of course, but is an option.

*A Signature Item can only be given to one Pokémon species or line per submission (i.e. Ampharos Line).

Canon examples of signature items:marowak:
  • Lucky Punch: Chansey
  • Stick: Farfetch'd
  • DeepSeaTooth, DeepSeaScale: Clamperl
  • Metal Powder, Quick Powder: Ditto
  • Soul Dew: Latias, Latios
Code:
[B]Signature Item Name[/B]:
[B]Effect[/B]: [Ex. If held by Cubone or Marowak, doubles its Attack stat.]
[SPOILER="Description"]
[Here you should talk about your new item's competitive use/any flavor related to it.]
[/SPOILER]
Important Consideration:snorlax:
Signature items should be strong enough to be useful over Leftovers, without creating too large meta shifts. While it's important to consider this, be bold! Send ideas to the submission feedback chat in our Discord. - Stay tuned for more posts regarding item balancing!

Vetos will be done based on balance and competitive integrity.

Submissions close on Friday, January 28th!

Also, we have another special announcement for you all:
:electrode: Lord Zorz has joined the Crystal: Sevii Islands Council! :electrode:

unknown-7.png

Pictured: Lord Zorz being accepted into the inner circle, circa 2022. (By Albatross)
"As you know," He started, "We have recently been delighted with the addition of Rezzo on the executive directing team. While our team is great, I do believe that there is a missing piece to our puzzle. Lord Zorz has been working phenomenally as a developer and community advocate, and I believe our team is not complete without him!"

Lord Zorz confidently stood before the executive directors: the four staff members responsible for the coordination of Pokemon Crystal: Sevii Island's development. JosJet, the overseer of the project; Albatross, the lead designer; Paulluxx, head data analyst; and Rezzo, head of research. "Now then, do you, Lord Zorz, accept the position of Co-Executive Director and Community Organizer?" JosJet said. "I do." Lord Zorz responded. A wave of applause and joy expelled from the other developers at the meeting. "Though we are only at the beginning of development, the future looks ever prosperous!"

Please welcome Lord Zorz to the C:SI Council! Zorz has been such a helpful and active community member here. He's been super nice, and is always sharing wonderful ideas for the mod. It's great to officially have him as a part of the Council. Congratulations Zorz!

As we go into Slate 3, the first coveted item slate, I think it's best we acknowledge the Donphan in the room:

Leftovers
At the end of every turn, holder restores 1/16 of its max HP.
- - -
The item used by over 95% of the Pokémon in gen 2, but, this is not to deposit the notion that leftovers is overpowered and is a 'problem' that we need to fix. No, simply by virtue of the maxed EV system, the lowered chip of no perma-sandstorm, only one layer of spikes, and the lower power of moves overall... Even stuff like Gengar can stick around for a number of turns! This means that naturally, leftovers will slot in nicely into this environment and is a snug fit. A few things can break this mold, notably Marowak's Thick Club, and more niche things like Magnet on Zapados. To the point where the second most used item in the meta is.... No item, for Thief!

What does this mean for the slate? Well, it means that any item has to keep in mind that it has to compete with Leftovers and itemless(thief), as it can be very tempting to make an item like Choice Band or Scarf that will simply make the entire balance of the tier out of wack but will have a impact regardless. I think so far our submissions have been creative and well thought out, and I believe they'll continue to do so, so let me help bring up a 'trap' of making an item submission(as I've talked with Rezzo about this a little bit already).

GSC items are V I S I B L E , you can confidently determine what someone is holding by playing smartly around them, even with no item thief users, you can see the no leftovers heal and be tipped off! Why signature items were chosen for slate 3 here is because these too are visible in the sense of "oh this 'mon that isn't very strong without their signature item didn't heal from leftovers, which means they probably have their signature item...", ala Marowak. This is a defining feature of GSC and while difficult, is great for the identity of the project to try and maintain.

Making an item that is strong enough to compete with Leftovers while not being overcentralizing, talking and thinking about the greater implications of any item addition is a grand time, and, again, a challenge that I look forward to going forward with y'all!

Hellfire Lantern:
Effect: If held by Houndour or Houndoom, its first fire attack always burns the opponent. This item is used up afterwards
With half of its pokedex entries talking abbout burning opponents and no reliable way of doing that I thought this item would perfectly fit Houndoom especially because after using a fire move it can use thief to steal the leftovers from another mon making it worth it to run it over leftovers
Powerlink:
Effect: If held by Doduo or Dodrio, causes its 2-turn moves to be executed in one turn.
Flavor:
This devise links the minds of the different heads so its coordination is good enough to only take one turn for two turn moves.
Competitive:
With a 140bp Stab move in Sky Attack and a interesting option in skull bash of a 110 attack stat, dodrio becomes a effective glass-cannon that can actually become relatively bulky on the physical side after a few turns turning it into a late game cleaner if raikou isnt there and tyranitar is severely weakened
Tyranitar Rock Slide vs. +2 Dodrio: 129-152 (43.1 - 50.8%) -- 2.6% chance to 2HKO
Dodrio Steel Wing vs. Tyranitar: 102-120 (25.3 - 29.7%)

:gs/growlithe::gs/arcanine:
Signature Item Name: Fang of Flames
Effect: If held by Growlithe or Arcanine, Their moves do 1.5x damage to targets above 50% HP.
you deal big damage, might also punish Leftovers healing the target above 50 HP. also punishes healing

:gs/mareep::gs/flaaffy::gs/ampharos:
Signature Item Name: Draco Light
Effect: If held by Mareep, Flaaffy or Ampharos, They gain the resistances of the dragon type.

Yung Dramps

awesome gaming

Signature Item Name: Thunder Dome
Effect: If the holder is Elekid or Electabuzz, grants their first offensive Electric move on switch-in +1 priority.

Signature Item Name: Heat Dome
Effect: If the holder is Magby or Magmar, grants their first offensive Fire move on switch-in +1 priority.
Description: I kept these relatively simple. What you need to know is that this is an attempt to experiment more with strong priority, with each Pokemon having some very intriguing targets to go up against (Starmie and the occasional Aerodactyl for the former, Jynx and Aroofaondo for the latter, Gengar for both). There's also an element of strategy to picking the right time to use your one priority STAB per switch-in: Fire it off immediately or wait it out while using your coverage in the meantime? Magmar is likely overall benefitted a lot more, but that's fine as Electabuzz was already somewhat useableish in OU to begin with.

Gunning for the top

UUPL Champion
Signature Item Name: Sandstone
Effect: If held by Sandshrew and Sandslash, summon Sandstorm for 5 turns on switch-in.
Sandslash is currently a niche Swords Dance wallbreaker in OU. With Sandstone, it can summon a sandstorm which deals 12.5% damage each turn in Gen 2, allowing it to wear down its Water and Grass type checks. Sandslash can also threaten Rock types as well as Steelix who are immune to sand, making it quite difficult for the opponent to deal with the Sand.

Ema Skye

Work!
Signature Item Name: Eternal Bloom
Effect: On switch, sets Sunny Day for 5 turns if the user is Vileplume or Bellossom.
Provides more counterplay to the Electrics by halving Thunder acc and weaking HP Water. This also turns Synthesis into a 50% recovery making them more consistent (not 66% according to Bulba). Typing differences between the two will usually dictate which you want to use. Also provides some cool team support.

A news report has been released about a daring trainer who searched the depths of Johto waters to uncover the mysteries surrounding the Sunken Chest. (Reading off of Newspaper) It says here that they were only able to bring back a Sandstone, a Hellfire Lantern, and a Powerlink. These treasures are said to have the power to grant certain Pokémon special powers. I've always believed that the Sunken Chest was a hoax, so I wonder if that trainer is telling the truth. Apparently a certain group of scientists that reside in the Sevii Isles are going to be doing tests to see if these items actually work. I guess time will tell if the folklore about the Sunken Chest was true all along...

Congratulations Mossy Sandwich for winning with Sandstone!
