okay heres my dp team which i posted here waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back, but then garchomp got kicked and then platinum came and i have no idea how to revamp my team, so pls help guys, i really want to take a step closer to making that perfect team, somehow.
THE TEAM:
FIRST EDIT: Insan3 and Rag's comments. Changed team to combat threat of Lucario, Salamence and Scizor better, as well as improved the pokes on the team.
Ambipom (F) @ Life Orb
Ability: Technician
EVs: 4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spd
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Fake Out
- U-turn
- Brick Break/Shadow Claw
- Double Hit
---
AMBIPOM! love him. hes my lead, fake out and double hit can do heavy damage, and he can come in later to solve the problem of reversalers and flailers at 1 health with fake out. i can't decide between brick break or shadow claw, personally i haven't been seeing much ttar use, so i go with shadow claw for the time being, but i dunno, normally when i use BB i end up u-turning when gengar or bronzong or the like show up, since i cant do anything else.
Breloom (F) @ Toxic Orb
Ability: Poison Heal
EVs: 44 HP/252 Atk/212 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Swords Dance
- Seed Bomb
- Mach Punch
- Spore
---
whoo theres breloom whos out there just to annoy with spore and subseed. don't know if i want to make the above change also, but with more and more fast paced sweepers arriving with the advent of platinum moves, maybe stalling isn't such a good idea.
EDIT 1: Changed to make breloom's movepool complement his stats, slow subs aren't THAT useful, and with SD i have a much better physical sweeper in tow.
Zapdos @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 164 HP/120 Def/224 SAtk
Bold nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Thunderbolt
- HP Ice
- Heat Wave
- Roost
---
Zapdos! A platinum threat to counter platinum threats. with given EVs,
(considering all are max attack)
Scizor:
SD Bullet Punch: 4HKO
SD X-Scissor: 3HKO
SD Superpower: 4HKO, factoring attack drops, and assuming he does max damage every time.
Lucario(assuming LO):
SD Bullet Punch: 4HKO
SD Extremespeed: 2HKO
SD Crunch: 2HKO
SD Close Combat: 2HKO
SD Ice Punch: 2HKO
Zapdos attacks towards them:
HeatWave > Scizor: 2HKO with Occa, OHKO without normally.
HeatWave > Lucario: OHKO normally.
so i can switch in on their SDs and whack em hard. i found the EVs given on smogon also make their hits like Lucario's Ice Punch a 2HKO, so i figured, why not pump ma special attack to ensure the KO on lucario, while still surviving the hit? Problem is Zapdos becomes a one shot counter, being unable to do much else after countering them due to low health. or maybe i can come in on CB earthquake or snuff and roost up.
EDIT 1: Changed to Zapdos, bulky sweeper, to combat new platinum threats.
EDIT 2: Gave up on making Zapdos an effective counter for salamence, since the OHKO wasn't confirmed.
Suicune @ Life Orb
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 4 Hp /252 Spe/252 SAtk
Modest nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Ice Beam
- Surf
- Calm Mind
- HP Electric
---
I'm not sure on sweepercune, im more comfortable with Leftovers Surf/Icebeam/CM/Rest, my calmcune that i used before plat with 252hp252def, but perhaps this will work better, i want a bulky sweeper, so i just put those evs, comments on whether this will work, and if it will, a good bulky spread for it?
EDIT: i put on the max spatk spread, yay for sweep. considering Hydro Pump for extra power, but i'm thinking that the accuracy and the PP isn't that worth it.
Raikou @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 64 HP/252 Spd/96 SAtk/96 SDef
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Substitute
- Calm Mind
---
A very good CM sweeper, and coincidentally a good shaymin-s counter, being able to take earth power and deal back an easy KO with HP Ice, but since a lot of shaymin users know that, they won't leave it in on Raikou anyway. Basic strat is to sub and see what they do, whack if i get my sub up on something that can potentially kill me and switch or if they lower my health to un-subbable level, and boost up if they don't switch, or dont break my sub, if a special attack breaks my sub, i CM until i can make an unbreakable sub.
Shaymin-s @ Life Orb
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 Spd/252 SAtk/4 SDef
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Air Slash
- Seed Flare
- Earth Power
- Hidden Power [Fire]
---
Everyone's using this beast, well i wouldn't call it that, coz it doesn't look like a beast at all. LO sweeper for versatility, got those two STAB moves there, seed flare being the gayest move in the game IMO, earth power for weakened metagrosses, electivire, etcs. HP fire is cool, for zong, forretress and scizor, WHICH IS BLINDINGLY COMMON. i didn't put psychic anywhere coz i dont see crobats. not at all.
I'm thinking of replacing any member of my team and dumping a Earthquake/Crunch/Rest curselax in, yes without his STAB body slam, coz i tested it in breloom's slot and it got me a few nice comebacks so im considering it. comments please and RMT
EDIT 1: I think my team is a lot sturdier now, but i still hit hard only on the special side of the spectrum. i want to make it more mixed, any ideas, anyone?
THINGS THAT IRRITATE ME: (with reference to Jumpman16's threat list)
Gengar: ARGH. Maybe i have a hard time with perfectly countering him, but im sure that i can weaken and kill him off fast due to his low defenses.
Dugtrio: I can't do anything if he traps ambipom, breloom or raikou, so technically cant counter this guy coz i cant switch in anything. hopefully be able to play around it.
Machamp: Shaymin takes this beast hands down. Yeah if i lose shaymin then my team will be machamp weak. OH maybe zapdos can take its hits because its defensively oriented, and deal back STAB thunderbolts and snuff.
Snorlax: ouch, painful thing to counter. perhaps shaymin seed flare? no i can't pose an immediate threat, nothing in my team poses an immediate threat to this.
Heatran: Suicune for most variants, as it resists both of heatran's STABs, and skymin if its weakened, unless its scarfed on fire blast, then i'd rather not risk letting skymin die.
Celebi: Zapdos can take some hits and deal Heatwave, but i dont like being seeded, so celebi will usually worry me.
Mamoswine: Probably comes in on Ambipom if its curser, raikou if otherwise, since those are the two best oppurtunities to come into the battle, for my team anyway. ambipom u-turns to suicune to hit it on the other side of the spectrum, while raikou switches to zapdos or skymin from the predicted EQ, then hit him hard with heatwave and earth power. skymin might not KO, so im worried.
Kingdra: argh with DD scope lens sniper outrage this thing can be a monster, otherwise, its still mega scary. No absolute counter in my team.
