Dancing in the Sun

Whats up, Smogon. I am new to the site, but have been battling for a long time. I think I made a pretty solid Sun team here. I tested it on Showdown and had some pretty good results. What I try to do is set up a sweep with Sawsbuck or Volcarona and win.

I started with Sawsbuck and Volcarona because I wanted to sweep with them.

Sun helps boost Volcarona's Firey Dance and activates Sawsbuck's Chlorophyll.

Entry Hazards would help my setups sweepers sweep, so I settled on Forretress. Forretress could also be my spinner to keep stealth rocks from taking away half of Volcarona's HP

I thought a pokemon that could be a mixed wall, pass wishes and spread status would be a bonus for my team, so I chose Chansey.

The 6th pokemon on a team is usually the glue that holds the team together. Salamence does just that. He can rip holes through teams and destroy them.

In Depth

Ninetales@Leftovers
Ability:Drought
Evs: 252HP/252Def/4SpD
Nature: Bold (+Def, -Atk)
-Flamethrower
-Will-O-Wisp
-Sunny Day
-Solar Beam
Ninetales is here to set up sun and cripple physical attackers. The EVs are a little bit wierd. No one uses a physically defensive Ninetales. My reasoning is that Tyranitar is a threat to Volcarona. They try to earthquake it. I switch to Ninetales and live the EQ. Then, I proceed to Will-O-Wisp. Flamethrower is so that I have a reliable STAB move. I experimented with Fire Blast at one point, but I hate it when Fire Blast misses. Sunny Day is a bit redundant on Ninetales, but I use it when Poilitoed or other weather inducers come in. Solar beam is so that I can hit bulky water types and Tyranitar.

Sawsbuck@Life Orb
Ability: Chlorophyll
EVs:4HP/252Atk/252Spe
Nature: Adamant (+Atk,-SpA)
-Double Edge
-Horn Leech
-Jump Kick
-Swords Dance
Sawsbuck is one of my setup sweepers. all I have to do is get one swords dance up and sweep. He outspeeds almost everything in the OU metagame with the Chlorophyll boost. He is walled by Gengar, but Horn Leech should take out a nice chunk of HP after a Swords Dance. Salamence can also deal with it. I chose Double Edge over Return because it does a little bit more damage. I can heal off the recoil with Horn Leech. I used Nature Power at one point instead of Jump Kick, but I found myself walled by Heatran with Air Balloon.

Volcarona@Leftovers
Ability: Flame Body
EVs:108HP/148Def/252SpA
Nature: Bold (+Def, -Atk)
-Quiver Dance
-Fiery Dance
-Bug Buzz
-Morning Sun
Volcarona is one of my favorite pokemon. For some reason it finds its way into almost all of my teams. Once it gets a up a Quiver Dance or two, it smashes through teams. I use the bulky set because I like Volcarona staying around for a long time to set and sweep, but I am wondering if I should make it a more offensive set and replacing Morning Sun with HP Ground so I don't get walled by Heatran. Fiery Dance and Bug Buzz are the standard STAB moves and provide decent coverage. Morning Sun is my main source of recovery. I heal off Stealth Rock damage if Forretress fails to Rapid Spin.

205.png

Forretress@Leftovers
Ability:Sturdy
EVs:252HP/252Def/4SpD
Nature:Bold (+Def,-Atk)
-Rapid Spin
-Volt Switch
-Stealth Rock
-Spikes
Forretress' job is to set up hazards and spin away hazards that threaten my team. The extra damage taken by switching in helps my sweepers a lot. If Forretress dies early without setting up hazards, I will usually lose the battle. I prefer Volt Switch over Gyro Ball because I can escape from Magnezone with Volt Switch and keep my momentum going. The rest of the moves are pretty standard and are self explanatory.

Chansey@Eviolite
Ability:Natural Cure
EVs:252HP/252Def/4SpD
Nature:Bold (+Def,-Atk)
-Wish
-Protect
-Seismic Toss
-Toxic
5th Generation gave us many changes in the metagame. One of them was the item Eviolite. In my opinion, Chansey is better than Blissey. Chansey is a freaking awesome mixed wall. She has a defense higher than Swampert and a special defense close to Blissey. She has the ability to pass 352 HP wishes to the rest of my team. She can stall out other pokemon with toxic, protect, and seismic toss. My team would not be successful without Chansey.

Salamence@Life Orb
Ability:Moxie
EVs:64/Atk/192 SpA/252Spe
Nature:Naive (+Spe,-SpD)
-Fire Blast
-Earthquake
-Outrage
-Draco Meteor

MixMence is a beast. He can take out half of the opponent's team if they are not prepared. He has awesome coverage with Fire Blast and Earthquake. When paired with his strong STAB moves of Outrage and Draco Meteor make him virtually unstoppable. Salamence can remove threats like Heatran and help Volcarona and Sawsbuck sweep. Sometimes Salamence sweeps teams by himself.
Currently Testing-Latios as suggusted by Jirachi
Conclusion
My team is pretty well balanced and I'm pretty sure it will be successful if I can fix my weaknesses. I think dragon types can sweep my team. I might need another steel, but I can't replace anyone. I need advice for that. Criticism will be appreciated.

Hi

Fighting pokemon, especially Sub SD Terrakion and Infernape can give this team a hard time. Infernape's great coverage and power boost in the sun can seriously take out at least 1 pokemon every time it comes in, which can be done by switching on Forretress using any other move than Volt Switch, and it can also come in on Chansey and Ninetales since those don't really threaten it. The only pokemon you have that isn't beaten on 1 on 1 is Sawsbuck, but it has to go for the revenge kill since it can't come in at all, because most of the move Infernape can carry will hit it for super effextive damage, except for Stone Edge, and I guess you could take an HP Ice. Infernape can also carry Mach Punch which really destroys any chance of Sawsbuck revenge killing it. Sub Terrakion can hit your whole team for super effective damage except for Forretress which doesn't do anything back, and again, Sawsbuck is your only revenge killer, which loses if Terrakion has a Substitute. I think Latios could easily replace Salamence on this team, for numerous reasons. For one, it checks most of the Fighting pokemon in the tier that give you so much trouble, while not being a sitting duck when the weather is rain, since most of your pokemon will be. Latios is a formidable offensive pokemon and it can cripple Stall teams with Trick, if you're worried about losing your wallbreaker.

However that does make you weaker to another great threat to Sun teams: Heatran. Heatran can take pretty much everything Latios can throw at it in sun while Salamence could defeat it easily with Earthquake, which is why you should swap Morning Sun on your Volcarona for HP Ground, which destroys most Heatran aiming at walling you and your team. With a spinner as reliable as Forretress, Volcarona will probably be safe from entry hazards when entering the field.

Set:
Latios @ Choice Specs
Levitate
Timid
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
-Draco Meteor
-Psyshock
-Hidden Power Fire
-Trick

Good luck!

Seeing that you have a sun team,i think forretress doesnt suit your team because of that
because of its X4 weakness to fire.i change it for a Donphan offensive Phan because of what you said at the end of your RMT you said that Dragons could sweep your team because of this i think Donphan with Ice Shard would allow you to KO these Dragons,Also to use it to resist the fire moves you boost so heres the set

Donphan@Leftovers
Ability:Sturdy
Impish
Evs:252 Hp,252 Def,4 Atk
Moves:Ice Shard,Stealth Rocks,Earthquake,Rapid Spin

hope this helped

Hetran Spec Def with SR/Roar can be a verry big problem for you.
I think It's a best Idea to play Donphan like RS and why not use Dugy for trap this tran and help Volcarona to sweep after.

But GG, good job ^^
