There hasnt been a discussion about this pokemon in an extremely long time and with alot of more of us in possesion of D/P i think its time to take a 2nd look at this dark poke

Now thats a hell of a movepool........it rivals gengar and lucario in the amount of moves this thing learns and that jus says alot right there

CG Darkrai.......with the attack boost this thing can hit really hard and it still has the option of sleeping a pkmn if still using dark void........to me this moveset limits Darkrais potential somewhat

CM Darkrai......a beast in its own right.......also has decent enough attack to FP so it was added there jus for the sake that it might put the hurt on a special wall such as blissey that wants to switch in on it

Sub CM Darkrai..........sortof like a better jynx with this move set.........sleep something sub up and proceed to cm up and sweep......has easier counters than the other sets thought due to only using one type of attack

SD Darkrai.........not a bad set and probaly a very unpredictable one as darkrai will probaly mostly be special users.....no STAB in this moveset but its reasonabe noe the less given Darkrai's base 90 attack.

Ok its safe to say that Darkrai is a top tier pokemon with its stas and movepool.....but i for one dont think it shud be sent off to ubers without some serious thought........provided sleep clause is on this isnt pokemo isnt that hard to deal with
it has average defences and mediocre life not a gud combination for surviving attacks .........yes it can calm mind and sweep extreemly well due to its speed and diverse movepool......but after finding out this things movepool its not as hard to counter ..........and for the majority if its move sets blissey beats it like 80% of the time also due to Cscarf its speed might not help it in those cases........by all means i think this shud be an ou pokemon even though it is very capable of competing in the uber tier with its STAB dark attacks and fast sleeping move.........

bad dreams wont always be that usefull as a trait with sleep clause......but sometimes ppl act like it cant miss <_<

Its 80%, best sleep move yet, really, except for spore. But I think this hits both pokes in a 2v2, so if thats your cup of tea, he pwns.

Theres no reason for this thing NOT to be uber. Hes soooo uber.
He has so many move possibilities, a wonderful support pool, a great ability, incredible special attack and speed.
He doesn't really need all that much HP or def. He can outrun so much stuff in OU (if he was ever allowed in) and with that special attack, it'll be a lot of OHKOs.
 
The issue I have with Darkrai isn't really focused on the Pokemon, itself, rather than the fact that people seem to think that Dark Void is the *only* trick it has. Darkrai isn't limited by Sleep Clause anymore than Gengar, Crobat, Persian or any other fast sleeper is, and those Pokemon can easily bypass those moves for other things, just as Darkrai can. The fact that it can Burn, Sleep AND Paralyze its opponents reliably means that Dark Void is just one of several options that Darkrai can exchange.

The only thing that limits this Pokemon is that it doesn't learn Flamethrower, Aura Sphere and Earthquake. Other than that, its versatility makes it almost unstoppable.
 
to use max spd and special attack AND attack if you want any novelty focus punch set you need to invest all your Evs into those 3 stats.
It will have to use mild/hasty to be mixed. If its not mixed it is probably stopped by blissey/regice depending on his movepool always.

Darkrai has 70 base hp(281) 90 defenses(216) (194 with minus nature)
I dont think it can take strong physical hit and live, for example LO garchomp,LO metagross OHKO it with their non SE stab attacks.
CSpokemon with STalk as a filler in their moveset like heracross can switch and get set up(!) on dark void.
If he is allowed in OU, counters will be found those are examples that just came in my mind these 2 minutes it took me to post.

TTar is more uber than him imo, so unless Darkrai tested to see if he is THAT uncounterable in a most likely offensive/fast metagame then you cant say its uber or not.
 
The counters are in game, no focus blast Snorlax, Blissey, Porygon- Z, Lucario, T-Tar can beat it, No Fire Move Metagross, Jirachi, Scizor can beat it,No electric move Gyrados can beat it,Registeel and Regice can t-wave it and without speed its is bait, I am pretty sure Breloom, Inferape,any thing mach punch hurt crap out,It plays the guessing game with weavile and Swellow. Aero and X-Scissor,U-turn carrying Crobat are faster than it.I can't see it switching in on Sala,Garachomp,and Rhypeior and liking it specially with spikes,slealth rock,toxic spikes,sandstorm in play, Heatran,Gallade aint shaking in fear from it.I have not even mention random stuff like explosion,werid things carrying hp fighting or bug or random bug or fighting move.

Also doesn't dark void put itself to sleep too?I know it has nice trait, speed, special attack its not that scary(considering Manphany,azleaf,T-tar allowed)It can be stop.
 
............I'm just going to lock this.........because I told you guys a thousand times.........no tier discussion..............

Just to show you guys how sick I am of this, I infracted everyone who was involved in discussing Darkrai's uber-or-not status for the #12851279th time.

This thread also needs more pacman, and that shouldn't be the case.
