Dat Non Weather

Hey guys, ITSU here. I was thinking about making a non weather team after reading the latest edition of the smog. I got some nice ideas there, and decided to incorporate them into a team. Im a big fan of a more balanced team, so here's my attempt at a balanced Non Weather team for gen 5 OU. I hope you like it. Please leave some critisism.

Conkeldurr (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Guts
EVs: 120 HP / 252 Atk / 136 SDef
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Drain Punch
- Mach Punch
- Bulk Up
- Payback

So yeah, I decided to start off with Conkeldurr since he is an awesome revenge killer this generation, hitting 404 max attack. with Access to Drain Punch, Bulk Up, and Guts, he has the potential to 2hko Skarmory after a +1 Drain Punch w/ Guts activated. Payback is there to hit ghosts such as Gengar, since they wall Conkeldurr without it for days. Conkeldurr also helps with Excadrill if my Bronzong and Skarmory is down, taking out a weakened Excadrill. All in All, Conkeldurr is a really underrated threat, and should be used more, and is a great addition to my team.

Gastrodon (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Storm Drain
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SDef
Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Earth Power
- Ice Beam
- Toxic
- Recover

Next on the team is my special wall, Gastrodon. Gastrodon is amazing at tanking any special attack you throw at it, successfully walling Rain teams, Rotom-W, and Thundurus due to his amazing ability, Storm Drain. The EVs and nature are standard for Gastrodon, since i didnt need to check anything crazy. Gastrodon is so bulky that it can live a Gengar's Energy Ball and Ice Beam back at full HP. Earth Power is there for STAB, and is my go to move with Gastrodon. Ice Beam is for coverage. Toxic is for residual damage against other Gastrodon and walls. Recover is for a reliable recovery move, and works really well.

Bronzong @ Leftovers
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 84 Atk / 80 Def / 92 SDef
Relaxed Nature (+Def, -Spd)
- Stealth Rock
- Gyro Ball
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Earthquake

Bronzong is a mixed tank, and forms a nice core with Gastrodon. Bronzong sets up my rocks, and is one of my main sand checks, reliably taking care of Landorus, Excadrill, Gliscor, and many other sand threats. Gyro Ball is for STAB, and is my goto move against faster pokemon such as Scarf Tar, Lati@s, and Terrakion to name a few. Hidden Power Ice and Earthquake are there for coverage, and Earthquake against equally slow pokemon. Bronzong is an amazing tank, and forms a great core with my gastrodon, resisting its grass weakness, while Gastrodon takes care of Bronzong's fire weakness.

Dragonite (M) @ Choice Band
Trait: Multiscale
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Outrage
- Fire Punch
- Waterfall
- ExtremeSpeed

CBNite is just a boss. With 403 max attack + band and a 120 BP Stab move such as outrage, it will be hard to live an attack from this guy. What makes Dragonite even more impressive is its ability, multiscale, which basically allows it to live any single hit at full health. Dragonite is also my counter to sun teams, since it can hit everything that sun teams have to offer barring common steels such as Heatran and the occasional spinner Forretress. All of the other moves are there for coverage, and Extremespeed is there for a +2 priority move, which helps me take out scarfers/chlorophyll users.

Gengar (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Shadow Ball
- Focus Blast
- Substitute
- Disable

Gengar is my spinblocker and support pokemon with the standard Sub+Disable set. This set is amazing because it allows Gengar to force out potential checks to Gengar or other pokemon on the opponents team thanks to disable. Examples include Conkeldurr with Payback, and Mienshao with Stone Edge/HP Ice, allowing me to set up a free sub or predict a switch. Shadow Ball is my main attacking move because of STAB and accuracy. Focus Blast is for coverage against steels and anything else that resists Shadow Ball. Not much else to really say about Gengar.

Skarmory (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Keen Eye
EVs: 252 HP / 236 Def / 20 Spd
Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Spikes
- Whirlwind
- Brave Bird
- Roost

Skarmory is my spiker, and another primary counter to excadrill and sandstorm teams. Spikes is there so that i can have more hazards, and make the opponent not want to switch in as often as they would like. Whirlwind is there so that i can phaze pokemon out so they will have to take spikes damage, and force out potential threats to Skarmory or my team, weakening them to an extent. BraveBird is my attacking move so that i dont become setup/taunt fodder, and Roost is for a reliable recovery move.

So thats my team, please leave a luvdisc lol and rate it!

I suggest you drop skarmory for a forretress because skarmory and bronzong pretty much wall most of the same things.. also your zong and dnite are easy set up bait so a spinner would help quite well.

Looks like a cool team. However, Calm Mind Reuniclus and Calm Mind Virizion look like potential problems for your team. Both get their chances at set-up on either Dragonite locked into the wrong move or on Gastrodon (though obv. Virizion has to watch out for Toxic), and then potentially sweep your team. You might be thinking Bronzong is an alright check to Virizion. Thing is, Virizion just needs Bronzong weakened slightly to put it into that 2HKO range, or get a second Calm Mind on Bronzong while taking a Gyro Ball.

Specially Defensive Jirachi over Bronzong helps both issues. Having Bronzong and Skarmory on the same team is redundant, with both checking similar threats. Jirachi is able to take on both Pokemon efficiently between Iron Head and Body Slam (flinchax) while taking their boosted attacks pretty well, and is also able to set-up Stealth Rock, while providing wish support for Dragonite, who desperately needs Multi Scale activated against Sun teams especially. Jirachi also maintains the synergy Bronzong had with Gastrodon, though it takes care of threats to Gastrodon, such as CM Virizion better than Bronzong did. Also, if you want, you can move Stealth Rock on Skarmory over Whirlwind and give Jirachi Fire Punch. This will ensure that you are not set-up bait for Spikes users, as they get quite a few opportunities to set-up on you.

Moveset:

Jirachi @ Leftovers
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 HP / 224 SDef / 32 Spe
Careful nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Iron Head
- Body Slam
- Wish
- Stealth Rock / Fire Punch

Hmm. I was having a problem with those 2 LK. I was using SDef skarmory over my regular one. He easily checks any kind of virizion with the x4 bravebird. I still need something for reuniclus though. Skarm could WW it out, but thats really it. Depending on what kind of Reuniclus it is of course. I easily beat CM by WWing, but trickroom is kind of hard, especially if it has recover. I mainly rely on conkeldurr with the Payback.

Yeah, as I mentioned already, Jirachi > 'Zong you can revert Skarmory back to the physically defensive variant, since your team relies on it to beat the sand sweepers. Jirachi is also a better answer to reuniclus and virizion because with sdefense skarmory you have to rely on phazing, meaning if they're the last pokemon on your foe's team, you lose. With Jirachi you can take them out most of the time with Iron head+Body Slam flinchax (Fire Punch as well for Virizion), and it also supports your team quite nicely with Wish (esp. dnite).

Yeah, ill give it a go. Any ideas for a spinner here also??? It makes me lose with Dnite and if they get a lot of spikes up.
