[SET COMMENTS]
Dragon Dance turns Tyranitar into a fearsome wallbreaker and win condition by bolstering its already phenomenal Attack and helping to circumvent its mediocre Speed tier. Loaded Dice, in combination with Rock Blast, hits extremely hard after a Dragon Dance and allows Tyranitar to bypass Sturdy and Disguise from Ogerpon-C and Mimikyu, respectively. Stone Edge is an alternative for more freedom in item choice, albeit at the cost of being less reliable. Earthquake nails Tinkaton, Toxapex, Cobalion, and Heatran. It is also a decent neutral attack against Conkeldurr and Keldeo. Protect is an alternative to scout Choice-locked Pokemon, especially Choice Scarf users, as they will typically be faster than Tyranitar after a Dragon Dance. Protect also prevents Lokix from revenge killing Tyranitar with First Impression. Other item options include Lum Berry to avoid status from Rotom-W, Clodsire, and Heatrans' Flame Body. This can potentially allow Tyranitar to Dragon Dance an additional time or ensure its sweep is not hindered. Leftovers are an alternative for passive recovery, which helps Tyranitar take advantage of its defensive typing better, though it would prefer to stay healthy. A Jolly nature outspeeds Ogerpon-C, Serperior, and Latios at +1; however, due to Tyranitar having a middling Speed tier, still being slower than Greninja and Tornadus-T at +1, it typically requires more than one boost, so an Adamant nature giving more power is an alternative. Tera Rock provides an additional boost to Tyranitar's Rock STAB. After a Dragon Dance, this helps OHKO Rotom-W and Zarude after Stealth Rock. Tera Rock also retains the SpD boost under Sand, and shedding its Dark-typing can help avoid Lokix KOing it. Tera Ground is an option that guarantees the OHKO on Keldeo after Stealth Rock and Toxapex with Earthquake.

Dragon Dance Tyranitar can fit on bulky and hyper offenses, providing a powerful win condition with excellent defensive typing. Excadrill is a natural partner in crime with Tyranitar capable of removing hazards and, if running Sand Rush, can outspeed foes like Greninja, Tornadus-T, and Weavile that naturally outpace +1 Tyranitar. In return, Tyranitar removes many Excadrill checks like Slowking, Rotom-W, and Hydrapple. Alternative checks to Tornadus-T, Heatran, and Latios are appreciated as Tyranitar wants to remain healthy, therefore Pokemon like Slowking and Tornadus-T can help answer them. Both can also give Tyranitar a safe entry with Chilly Reception and U-turn. Slowking is also a phenomenal check to Cobalion and Keldeo, the few Pokemon capable of switching into Tyranitar's STABs. Offensive partners like Scizor, Lokix, and Weavile can pressure these checks with Tyranitar. They also provide priority, which can help circumvent the fact that many offensive threats still outpace Tyranitar after a Dragon Dance. Entry hazard setters like Cobalion, Skarmory, and Sandy Shocks are always welcome to help wear down Pokemon like Toxapex and Keldeo into range of a boosted attack. Serperior and Ribombee can set screens on offensive teams to help Tyranitar accumulate multiple boosts. It also makes it harder for priority users like Scizor and Lokix to revenge kill Tyranitar. Ribombee can also set Sticky Web to make Tyranitar, after one boost, more effective against Greninja and faster Choice Scarf Pokemon.
