Sup y'all. I'm charged up.
After playing some gen 3 ou I wanted to try using DD tyranitar in sun moon ou. I decided to go with a sticky web team since tyranitar at +1 speed is still not that fast. While this team is not the most optimised or effective team, DD tyranitar is pretty fun to use and can be surprisingly effective at sweeping. Here's the team.
Galvantula @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Compound Eyes
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Thunder
- Volt Switch
- Bug Buzz
- Sticky Web
This boy is my sticky web setter. I decided to use a scarf set to allow the bug to revenge kill greninja once it has set up sticky web. Thunder and bug buzz for stab attacks and volt switch for momentum.
Tyranitar @ Leftovers
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Stone Edge
- Crunch
- Earthquake
Big boy Ttar. A simple and straightforward set. Stone edge and crunch for damage, with earthquake to hit megearna and make me less reliant on stone edge against ground weaks like heatran, tapu koko and toxapex. I'm currently running adamant since at +1 speed with sticky web up almost everything gets outpaced anyway, but considering switching to jolly so that at +1 it outspeeds metagross, which isn't affected by sticky web pre mega evolution.
Pinsir-Mega @ Pinsirite
Ability: Aerilate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Feint
- Return
- Earthquake
Pinsir is here to break through or at least weaken the mons that can take a hit from tyranitar. landorus-T, garchomp, ferrothorn, skarmory etc. Standard moves and spread for mega pinsir.
Tapu Fini @ Leftovers
Ability: Misty Surge
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Moonblast
- Nature's Madness
- Defog
- Taunt
Fini is my hazard control. It's also my switch in for greninja and other special attackers. Moonblast for stab, nature's madness to weaken apposing tapu fini for tyranitar and defog and taunt to remove/prevent hazards.
Tapu Lele @ Choice Specs
Ability: Psychic Surge
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Psychic
- Moonblast
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Focus Blast
Tapu lele is the second wall breaker of the team. With specs it kills basically everything and can be deadly with sticky web up. Standard moves and spread.
Ferrothorn @ Leftovers
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Relaxed Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Stealth Rock
- Gyro Ball
- Leech Seed
- Knock Off
Finally, ferrothorn is here to get up rocks and wear down physical threats. Standard max phys def spread with the usual moves. I have knock off over power whip because I saw pokeaim use knock off ferrothorn in spl.
That's the team. The biggest threat to the team is missing stone edge. Some other notable threats are: zard X, which is annoying to switch into and hard to revenge kill and metagross, which can stop tyranitar sweeping if it hasn't mega evolved before switching in on sticky web. Also, I have nothing to stop set up sweepers. Give it a try. Improvements would be appreciated.
Peace.
