Death by rachi

hey guys. 5th gen era is coming to an end in about 6 months, so i decided to make a team centred around 2 of the more annoying pokemons in OU, being subcm rachi and dugtrio, and a volt turn combo built around it for tempo, and a clean up sweeper being latios, and of course politoed for the goddamn rain.

Scizor (M) @ Choice Band
Trait: Technician
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SDef
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Bullet Punch
- U-turn
- Pursuit
- Superpower

First off would be CB scizor. It not only is part of my voltturn combo with rotom-w, it also... really i think you all know what this pokemon is for and how it fits on almost every team. I dont think i want to explain for this guy, but i have to. Bullet punch is a priority move yeah, pursuit is a very useful trapping move, i dont know what to do without it. I have never used superpower before, and i dont see much of a need to, even though its pretty much the only fighting type move in my team other than reversal from duggy.

Rotom (Rotom-W) @ Leftovers
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SAtk / 252 SDef
Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Volt Switch
- Hydro Pump
- Pain Split
- Will-O-Wisp

My other part of the volt turn combo. Rotom-wash is running a specially defensive set to tank some hits since if you noticed, i hardly have anything willing to take any hit on this team. Pain Split for some form of recovery, will o wisp to cripple the physical attackers that may cause some problem to rachi, and hydro pump to dripple pokes up under rain.

Dugtrio (M) @ Focus Sash
Trait: Arena Trap
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Earthquake
- Stealth Rock
- Reversal
- Stone Edge

This is one of the most troll pokemon ever. High speed combined with arena trap for its ability is frustrating. Combined with a volt turn combo, this triple dick head can kill lots of pokemon. It is also my stealth rock setter if it gets a chance, and reversal/ stone edge is for coverage (somewhat). Even though hazards break its sash and i have no bouncer/spinner, disallowing it to set up rocks or use reversal properly, i dont see it as much of a problem since its main job is to trap and kill.

Politoed (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Drizzle
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SAtk
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Scald
- Ice Beam
- Toxic
- Protect

politoed just sits there setting up rain, tank a few hits maybe, burn a few physical attackers, poison a few special attackers, maybe ice beam an unsuspecting dragonite, and protect to waste a few turns. politoed is a cool guy. He has a pretty blank portfolio, so i have nothing else to say about him.

Jirachi @ Leftovers
Trait: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Substitute
- Calm Mind
- Thunder
- Water Pulse

Now we welcome the star of the team. Jirachi, terror of dark side, Mighty overlord of the universe, the shadow of god, king of misery, the one and only, hax lord rachi. If this baby gets switched in onto something like a ferrothorn, its most likely gg, unless the opponent has 2 things that can outspeed and ohko rachi. Jirachi easily sets up a 101hp sub on a lowly creature, and a few calm minds if it gets the chance while it is slowly setting up hazards, the it dishes out a 120bp 100% accurate crippling thunder, with 60% chance to paralyze the opposing side, and a 60bp rain boosted water pulse, with a 40% chance to confuse. And not only that, with 100hp, SpA, and Speed, this is outspeeds, tanks, and dishes out huge damage, making it a fearful sweeper.

Latios (M) @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Draco Meteor
- Dragon Pulse
- Psyshock
- Surf

Together with Dugtrio, Latios here, is my clean up sweeper, if jirachi does not do its job properly, this bad boy comes in after the steel types are gone and fire off strong hits, and switching out if it has to. I am not sure if i should replace dragon pulse with thunder/HP fire. what do you think?

If you ever want to try this team out

Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SAtk / 252 SDef
Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Volt Switch
- Hydro Pump
- Pain Split
- Will-O-Wisp

Dugtrio (M) @ Focus Sash
Trait: Arena Trap
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd

Hi there,

Your team seems the standard Rain team in the Tornadus-T era, Dugtrio + Tornadus-T + Latios was one of the best offensive core and I am glad that someone use a similiar core even if Tornadus-T is now banned from OU tier.

Looking closely at your team, it looks quite weak to Breloom, it can Spore your Latios and then it's quite hard to handle, it beats without any problem Politoed, Rotom-W and Dugtrio and even Jirachi and Scizor can have some problems with it. To solve this weakness, you have two way, the first is to use Psyshock on your Jirachi, replacing Water Pulse of course, which would allow you to KO Breloom back after his Mach Punch. The other, the more gimmick way, is to use Sleep Talk instead of your Dragon Pulse. Sleep Talk would allow you to switch into Breloom's Spore safety and to KO it with Draco Meteor or Psyshock, after a Spore on your Latios, Breloom usually stays in and uses Sword Dance or Bullet Seed so you should surprise it with Sleep Talk and to KO it quite easily. Both these options help you against Amoonguss too, it isn't an offensive threat but it can wall Politoed, Dugtrio and Rotom-W and in a similiar way it can Spore one of your mons (and sometimes it can paralyze another one with Stun Spore, which is quite bad for your).

Personally, I'd go with Psyshock on your Jirachi, which allow it to be a better wall-breaker, (Stall teams seems hard to handle to yours on the paper, they can setup entry hazards on your whole team and then just Chansey walls Politoed, Rotom-W, Latios and Jirachi) to use a different move on your Latios. I think Trick is your best choice here, it allows to block some setups (Volcarona's Quiver Dance for example, which smashes your whole team if Stealth Rock is up) and to fight Stall teams more easily too.

Another thing I'd suggest to you is to try Tentacruel instead of your current choice of Rotom-W, which can help you against threats like Volcarona and Keldeo (big threats on the paper for this team) and which helps you, again, against Stall teams as well. It also allows to spin away the entry hazards and that helps a lot Dugtrio which is running a Focus Sash (Focus Sash mons without Rapid Spin and Magic Bounce users are bad in my opinion because 99% of actually teams has Stealth Rock which make pointless your Focus Sash). You may try the classic support Tentacruel from this page of the site, it should be fine in your team.

Good luck!

Hi Dude,

Cool team you have, sincerly!
SubCMJirachi is very dangerous for unprepared teams.
Scizor and RotomW are very cool to do great damage and then give way to Jirachi!
But, but, Dugtrio may be replaced by Landorus-Therian since the fightspam is very dangerous for you and, yes, you are weak to Breloom and with this you can check it, so wonderful!

Now I suggest you to change Will-o-Wisp of Rotom-W in Thunder Wave, with this you can better check under rain Volcarona and also Lati@s (and in rare cases Venusaur)!

Then, I suggest you a last change for your team aka ScarfPolitoed>DefensiveToed for Dragonite and you can do Encore when you are in trouble!

2s1ayxg.png

Landorus-Therian @ Leftovers
Jolly Nature - Intimidate
252 HP / 244 Def / 12 Spd
Earthquake - U-Turn - Hidden Power [Ice] - Stealth Rock
With this EVs you exceed Tentacruel, RotomW and Breloom.
Hidden Power Ice>Stone Edge to beat Lando-T opponent or Garchomp and obviously Dragonite, Salamence etc.

hey there, pretty good team, but I dont think it has enough offense to fuel a win against certain matchups.

A Choice scarf latios may be one of the best cleaners in the game, but it has awful coverage and it is super dependent on your team members doing enough damage to opposing pokemon to warrant its usage. You have volturn offensive to try to handle the steels that wall a majority of your pokemon, but dugtrio is not efficient at setting them up.

Because of this I would replace latios with Keldeo. Keldeo has much better coverage than latios and has amazing synergy on a rain team. Surf's beocme Draco meteors with perfect accuracy and no drawbacks in the rain. however, Keldeo does make you a bit more vulnerable breloom, celebi at the cost of handling scizor, mamo, and tyranitar better.

I would also like to suggest a nasty plot bp'g celebi over your rotom. BP and volt switch both give you momentum, but celebi has key resists and consistent recovery which Rotom can't provide for you. It's becoming a very common trend and a + 2 Scarf Keldeo can easily sweep teams. Celebi allows you to take random status, and is a great answer to breloom and other fighting types in general. It also has pretty good synergy with Dugtrio so you can BP into it if someone unexpectedly brings in their Tyranitar or ninetales in on it.

good luck!
