Hey there,
My name is Acatia, and I like to make teams I find unconventional (sorta at least I like to think they are). As a quick word of introduction, I should point out that at all cost will I try to avoid using pokemon sets that you see on everyone's grandmother's team just cuz they are the best, think in previous generations Skarm/Bliss for example. I understand this might lead to some "Why would you use Shaymin? Celebi is so much better" type of moments for the usual rater but lets think outside the box here, should be more interesting then a recycled Latios/Scizor/Landorus/Aegislash set festival I'd think (again, at least I hope so). I try to be original (heck I was complimented for it in the past) so just bear with me since feedback is welcomed (lashing isn't but I trust this to remain civilized).
Side Note
This is my first 6th gen actual team (up to now I've been randomly breeding pokemons.. time to do something now), I'll do my best to at least keep track of tiers, but should I miss on a recent change please let me know so I can rework the troublesome components.
The team, as the title implies is Wifi based (that's why it take so long to breed everything), unfortunately I didn't get to be one of the rare people who got Pokébank in the 5mins it was up, so everything locked in previous generations has to come from a lucky Wonder Trade, aka don't expect Heatran or Thundurus here.
The team has had many revisions in terms of style, but hopefully the general idea makes sense now.
I like team preview, do you?
Strategy Meeting, Got Your Game Face On? Then Its GO Time!!
Name: Moegami (although just Pheonix might just work too)
Gender: Female
Item: Leftovers/Lum Berry
Ability: Gale Wings
Nature: Adamant
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 Spe
-Brave Bird/Acrobatics
-Flare Blitz
-Bulk Up
-Roost
Thankfully Talonflame was my first pokemon I breed perfectly this generation, so I sort of started from there. A slighly bulkier version of setup Talonflame. The EVs bring HP to 359 for SR reasons (although that's taken care of later too) and the Atk and Spe sit at 287 and 290 respectively.
The moveset is a bit traditional per say, but it works. The only real ongoing question I'm having lies between Leftovers+Brave Bird or Lum Berry+Acrobatics as the former is more reliable, but I've had enough Toxic/TWave used on me to warrant the latter. The only problem is if I don't use the Berry, Acrobatics is far weaker then Brave Bird.
Name: Black Star
Gender: Male
Item: Choice Band / Life Orb
Ability: Reckless
Nature: Jolly
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
-Brave Bird
-Double Edge
-Close Combat
-Uturn
After Facebook recommended me to like the site, I immediately got hit my a post of how effective flying type really got nowadays, and to my surprise one of my favorite flying types was suggested to pair a new favorite of mine.
What does Talonflame not like, Rotom-W/H, Rock types maybe, well thanks to Staraptor, all of that is taken care of, plus the things that Star doesn't enjoy such as Aegislash get taken care of by Talon, so really it's a win win. Of course neither of them really enjoy switching in rock or Rotom, but that is taken care of later.
The EV spread puts HP at 311, maximized Atk and Spe at 339 and 328 respectively to pack some serious hurt with those boosted Double Edge in that dumb washing mashine's face. Close Combat because that's what Staraptor makes em rock and steel type think twice, Uturn for scouting and Brave Bird for DA POWER!!
Seriously, getting to use Staraptor seriously for once is pretty sweet.
Name: Bagpipe
Gender: Male
Item: Leftovers
Ability: Sturdy
Nature: Relaxed
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 Sp.D
-Stealth Rock
-Rapid Spin
-Volt Switch
-Earthquake/Gyro Ball
You might have noticed, but with that many birds, I could probly retain the use of a spinner. Now on this role I considered both Forretress and Donphan as they both fit that category, but can also both setup Stealth Rocks. Both are quite bulky but Forretress possess a trick the elephant can't do and that's slow Volt Switching. The issue with the birds is they aren't especially defensive behemots, so switching into incoming attacks that aren't resisted at the very least is a bit iffy, especially from the reliance of recoil power moves, this is taken care of by safely switching after a very slow Volt Switch and at 354 HP and 379 Def, his odds of doing so are pretty darn good.
The final move is situational, Forretress already has 3 utilities, but EQ does give a weapon against a few useful types. Gyro Ball is iffy, sure it can be very slow in Forretress' "hands" (well w/e he has anyway), but I feel EQ has a broader purpose.
I'm sort of curious how relevant Overcoat could be, but Sturdy is still pretty darn good.
Name: Val Elenium
Gender: Female
Item: Leftovers
Ability: Overcoat
Nature: Impish
EVs: 248 HP / 216 Def / 44 Sp.D
-Foul Play
-Roost
-Defog
-Taunt/ Knock Off
Call it paranoia, but with that many birds, I really don't think only 1 SR removing member is safe, plan B falls into Mandibuzz. Now here again I was puzzling myself between Mandibuzz and Crobat, both can Defog, Roost and Taunt but Mandibuzz is bulkier and helps cover Venusaur's psychic weakness. Taunt feels more favorable for the expected Sylveon and Florges switch ins. Knock Off would be useful, but Taunt will shut those up completely, and even if she can't effectively deal significant damage to either of those, at least she can stop them from doing their cleric jobs.
Name: Rilakkana (he's no kuma, but it's the same)
Gender: Male
Item: Leftovers
Ability: Unaware
Nature: Relaxed
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 Sp.D
-Earthquake
-Scald
-Recover
-Toxic
Hai, Rilakkana desu. Here we come to supply type synergy. Forretress already was sort of taking Rock and Ice type moves for the birds, but Quagsire shuts down electric, absorbs rock even better and isn't burned to a crisp by fire. It's also worth noting Quagsire might be clueless, but he's damn good at it to check setup users with his Unaware, checking namely Mawile and physical Lucario. Scald and Toxic spread plenty of status accordingly, EQ for main STAB and Recover cuz no f***s are given. With 394 HP and 269 Def + Recover and Unaware that's some well used type synergy.
Name: Tropical
Item: Venusaurite
Ability: Overgrowth -> Thick Fat
Nature: Sassy
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 Sp.D
-Giga Drain
-Sludge Bomb
-Synthesis
-Earthquake
Adding some more type synergy with quite basicly EVERYTHING, Venusaur makes a lot of sense to end close my team match up (even if at first I wasn't thinking of having any mega to begin with). Here I'm trying a slightly different style from the Mega Venusaur I've been seeing and switching from physical to special tank basicly cuz I already have Quagsire, Forretress and Mandibuzz as physically bulky. The moveset covers pretty wide, unfortunately I have to run Sassy over Calm due to Earthquake, but Venusaur outside of the sun isn't super fast anyway so w/e.
The EVs bring me at 364 HP, 283 Def and 372 Sp.D which should allow it to avoid being OHKOed by Alakazam and special based Lucario.
Gone But Not Forgotten
......well nothing at the moment really.
Thats it! Discussion Start!
