Decent UU Team that Needs Some Improvement?

I've spent some time working on this team and I have tested it many times on Shoddy and on the DS. My conclusion is that the team has issues with Earthquake; specifically ones coming from Choice Scarf/Band users. I'm not sure on what to do to handle those pesky Pokemon. Well here's the team.

Froslass @ Focus Sash
Ability: Snow Cloak
Nature: Timid
EVs: 252 Sp. Attack/252 Speed/4 HP

-Spikes
-Taunt
-Destiny Bond
-Ice Beam

Froslass is perfect as a lead because she out-speeds most opposing leads. The first move I would use would either be Spikes or Taunt. If I know the opponent is going to switch Pokemon, then I use Spikes. Otherwise, I'd use Taunt. Froslass has been very successful in setting up 2 to 3 layers of Spikes. Destiny Bond is to force the opponent to switch if their Pokemon is powerful enough to OHKO Froslass.

arcanine-1.png

Arcanine @ Life Orb
Ability: Intimidate
Nature: Jolly
EVs: 252 Attack/252 Speed/4 HP

-Morning Sun
-Flare Blitz
-Extreme Speed
-Iron Head

Arcanine is a very good physical sweeper with high speed. Unfortunately, he has a terrible weakness to Earthquake. But against other types of Pokemon, he does major damage. Morning Sun is to heal Life Orb and Flare Blitz damage, Flare Blitz for a powerful STAB move, Extreme Speed for a powerful priority move, and Iron Head for Rock-types.

porygonZ.png

Porygon-Z @ Life Orb
Ability: Adaptability
Nature: Timid
EVs: 252 Sp. Attack/252 Speed/4 HP

-Nasty Plot
-Tri Attack
-Dark Pulse
-Ice Beam

An amazing special sweeper. Porygon-Z has always been my favorite Nasty Plot user. This Pokemon is devastating to opposing Pokemon with Tri Attack. Dark Pulse is for Ghost-types who resist Tri Attack and Ice Beam is for Dragons.

registeel.png

Registeel @ Leftovers
Ability: Clear Body
Nature: Careful
EVs: 252 HP/252 Sp. Defense/4 Attack

-Stealth Rock
-Thunder Wave
-Earthquake
-Iron Head

Registeel is a great Pokemon as a special wall. He is resistant to most special moves. If Fire types come in, then I can switch in Milotic. Stealth Rock is for an extra entry hazard, Thunder Wave to slow down fast Pokemon, Earthquake for opposing Steel-types, and Iron Head for a decent STAB move.

clefable.png

Clefable @ Toxic Orb
Ability: Magic Guard
Nature: Adamant
EVs: 252 HP/252Attack/4 Speed

-Protect
-Softboiled
-Facade
-Meteor Mash

The typical Toxic Orb abuser. Protect is used to activate Toxic Orb, Softboiled to recover damage, Facade as a powerful STAB move, and Meteor Mash for Rock-types and the chance to raise the attack stat. The Pokemon has problems with mostly Ghost-types because of their resistance to Normal attacks. But that's where I switch in Porygon-Z or another Pokemon.

sza98j.png

Milotic @ Leftovers
Ability: Marvel Scale
Nature: Bold
EVs: 252 HP/252 Defense/4 Sp. Attack

-Recover
-Surf
-Ice Beam
-Hidden Power Grass

I realized that since she is neutral to Earthquake, raising her Defense would be a good idea. Basically I switch in Milotic whenever a Pokemon is giving Registeel trouble. The Defense EVs allow her to take Fighting and Ground attacks that hurt Registeel. She has a great Sp. Defense that will protect her from many attacks. Recover is for healing, Surf for a powerful STAB move, Ice Beam for annoying Dragons with Earthquake, and Hidden Power Grass for opposing Water-types.

Hello

I notice you have a big weakness to Rock Polish Torterra. This could be solved by using a Scarfed Porygon-z who could take Torterra out with Ice Beam before he starts his sweep.

i_porygon-z.gif

Porygon-z @ choice scarf/ timid/ download
4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe

- Ice Beam
- Thunderbolt
- Tri Attack
- Trick

--> Porygon-z makes an excellent revenge killer. Ice Beam and Thunderbolt gives it the Boltbeam combo which can hit a lot of foes for at least neutral damage. Trick Attack will be you main move. It's STAB'ed and to get the added effect (either inflicting a burn, paralysis or freeze) is a nice bonus as well. Trick can let you screw over walls and can help you against stall teams. Although you could go with Hidden Power (fighting) in the last moveslot as well.

Hope this helped!

I havn't get enough time for a full rate but put haze over ice beam or HP electric. It will really help against curse users

The reason why people choose Bold and max defense on Milotic is because it's typing is far better to absorb physical attacks. Grass and Electric are almost always special and Milotic does a better job walling physical attackers then special attackers. Think of all the special moves you're gonna switch Milotic into. Surf, Ice Beam, Fire Blast, etc.. It resists all of these so there's no point putting in SpD ev's unless you have a specific purpose in mind. With that I say switch to a Bold nature, and make the ev's 252HP/248Def/8Spe. The 8 Speed allows you to outspeed max speed Adamant Aggron. I would actually go for 12 Speed ev's because it's always nice to be one step ahead of the opponent, and you never know when it can come in handy against an opposing Milotic. And with these new set of ev's Milotic can basically switch into any STAB Earthquake user and threaten them off or KO them besides Torterra (Rhyperior, Donphan, Quagsire, etc..). I'd also suggest changing Hidden Power Electric to Grass because it provides better utility, and you may also consider Haze over Ice Beam to rid of the opponents stat boosts.

Registeel already has a ton of defense and resists the attacks you need him to. Most Physical attackers use Ground or Fighting attacks and sometimes even Fire which makes Registeel a weak main physical wall. That's why I suggest you make the spread 252HP/100Atk/156SpD with a Careful nature. This allows Registeel to easily soak hits from Bulky Waters and other special attackers like Sceptile and Mismagius, who can be a big threat to your team after a Nasty Plot boost. Iron Head is a 3HKO on Mismagius without prior damage while she struggles to do much back.

You have a big Fighting-type weak, and with only one immunity (and no resists) you can really struggle against them. I never got why people keep Froslass as a lead, so many leads are meant to dismantle her. Taunt/Pursuit Ambipom, Scarf Venusaur, Shadow Ball/Shadow Sneak Spiritomb, Scarftres, etc... I suggest moving Froslass out of the lead spot and changing it with he bulky set.

Froslass(F)@Leftovers
Nature:Timid
Ability:Snow Clock
Ev's:248HP/228Def/32Spe
-Spikes
-Taunt/Destiny Bond
-Pain Split
-Ice Beam

This Froslass is guaranteed more Spikes then the suicide lead. With this set is can easily defeat all the spinners especially Donphan. The ev's allow it to survive two Pursuits from Ambipom and four Pursuits from Spiritomb without Choice Band. The HP ev's allow Froslass to take minimum damage from SR. 32Spe with a Timid nature allows Froslass to outpace neutral natured base 95s such as Leafeon.

With that I suggest you move Arcanine to the lead slot and switch out Iron Head for Toxic. This allows you to hit Bulky Waters on the switch-in and cripple them to hopefully sweep with Arcanine later in the match. And it also helps bypass lead Froslass's Destiny Bond.

Last is Clefable. The set seems to do it's own thing and not support the team, so I suggest you switch it to a Wish set. This way you can switch Froslass in on the predicted Fighting attacks and Recover health, and Wish is all around a great way to support any team.

Clefable(F)@Toxic Orb
Nature:Calm
Ability:Magic Guard
Ev's:252HP/252SpD/4Spe
-Wish
-Protect
-Seismic Toss
-Toxic/Encore

With this set Clefable can still absorb status while aiding the team. It's special bulk allows it to handle most weak special attackers, and Encore can allow your teammates an easier time to switch-in (as can Wish). Protect is nice for a scouting move and complements it's other moves nicely, while Seismic Toss is the offensive move of choice because of it's consistent damage output.

If you wanted a more offensive status absorber, I suggest a Hariyama.

Hariyama(M)@Flame Orb/Toxic Orb
Nature:Adamant
Ability:Guts
Ev's:252Atk/100Def/100SpD/56Spe
-Close Combat
-Payback
-Ice Punch
-Bullet Punch/Facade

After the Guts boost very little is really safe to switch into Close Combat. Payback for Ghosts and Ice Punch for coverage mainly a way of disposing Altaria and Torterra in one blow. If you decide to use this and put it in the lead position (which is actually pretty fucking good), go with Bullet Punch to 2HKO Froslass with Payback+Bullet Punch, otherwise you can go with Facade as your strongest means of hitting certain Fighting resists like Weezing.

Hope I helped and good luck!

@Delko:
I don't really like that set because it requires a lot of switching. I don't want Porygon-Z to be a revenge killer; it does a good job as a special sweeper. Also, I prefer Adaptability over download for a powerful Tri Attack. However, I do like the idea of Ice Beam. I will replace Hidden Power Fire with Ice Beam.

@Golden Sun:
I've tried Haze on Milotic before and it did not work out well. Curse-users are not really a threat because Milotic uses Special Attack and most Curse-users usually do not have a high Special Defense.

@Thund91:
I've thought about Bold Milotic and I believe that makes sense. I will switch Milotic's and Registeel's roles around. Milotic will have more defense EVs to defend against Registeel's weaknesses, and Registeel with have more Sp. Defense EVs to defend against Milotic's weaknesses. I've also though about Hidden Power Grass and I believe I like that idea because of opposing Quagsire and other Water-Electric types.
I've decided to keep my Registeel the same except that I will switch its nature and the EVs to a more Sp. Defense oriented Pokemon.
I've decided to keep my Froslass because it is meant to only set up Spikes. I'm pretty good at predicting what the other lead Pokemon is going to do. Taunt them if they are going to set up or Sleep Powder, Spikes if they're switching, Ice Beam for damage, Destiny Bond after my Focus Sash activates.
I'm keeping Arcanine as a physical sweeper because it forces a lot of switches for unprepared opponents.
I'm not very fond of Wish users because I could never time it correctly. I like Clefable's current set because it has been successful for me against other Pokemon.

I'd suggest switching Leftovers for Life Orb on Porygon Z. Leftovers wouldn't heal that much considering the mediocre health it has. With Life Orb, it should be able to sweep late game without spending too much time on nasty plot. Combine it with a nasty plot and I don't see much stopping you.

That might be a good idea. I might also change Porygon-Z's nature to Timid because it needs to be faster.

My changes are Unbolded.

Arcanine-Changing life orb to choice band can let you hit harder and no recoil can be a good thing when you switch into rocks and take 25%, while you lose the ability to change moves. Changing morning sun and Iron head to Thunder fang can let you hit water and flying types, as well as ghost and psycic types, i also never really found a good use for iron head on arcanine.

Clefable-I have found that if you like running physical clefable, that if you can clear anything that could counter this set it can work extremely well late game.
252 hp/252 def/6 atk
-Cosmic Power
-Facade
-Softboiled
-Belly Drum

once any threats are cleared, you can switch in, cosmic power a couple of times, softboil then belly drum and proceed to sweep :naughty:

I hope these suggestions help you :]
