[OVERVIEW]

  • Decidueye's strength lies in its access to Swords Dance which boosts it's already good attack.
  • Decidueye has access to a spammable Ghost-type move, which also gives it the ability to trap Pokemon like Alomomola, and it's own signature Z Move Sinister Arrow Raid.
  • Decent all around bulk allows Decidueye to set up against most teams.
  • Decidueye's great offensive typing makes it the perfect stallbreaker as it allows Decidueye to pressure Alomomola and Quagsire.
  • Suboptimal Speed makes Decidueye vulnerable to most offensive teams.
  • With no way to boost it's Speed Decidueye is easily revenge killed by faster threats such as Hydreigon, Infernape, Mega Manectric, and Mega Aerodactyl.
  • With a lack of coverage Decidueye stuggles to break through Dark-, Dragon-, and Steel-types like Hydreigon, Cobalion, and Scizor.

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

  • Swords Dance allows Decidueye to boost its attack and release its powerful STAB moves. It's boosted Attack stat allows for it to 2HKO Blissey and have a chance to OHKO Alomomola.
  • Spirit Shackle is a strong STAB move with decent base power that traps any opposing Pokemon hit with the move. Decidueyes ability to trap gives it an opportunity to break through any Physical walls like Mega Aggron by unleashing its Z Move.
  • Leaf Blade is another strong STAB move that is useful against the many bulky Water- and Ground-types in the tier like Suicune, Alomomola, Swampert and Hippowdon. It also allows to Decidueye to neutrally hit trapped targets harder than Spirit Shackle.
  • Substitute gives Decidueye a splendid matchup versus stall. It walls both Blissey and Alomomola and can easily set up as its typing allows for it to not be walled by Quagsire.
Set Details
========

  • Maximum Attack and Speed investment is optimal for Decidueye as it is an offensive sweeper.
  • A Jolly nature allows Decidueye to outspeed most walls and slower offensive threats like Primarina.
  • Overgrow is Decidueye's only possible ability, it is useful when Decidueye is low on HP and is able to release powerful Leaf Blade's.
  • Decidium Z lets Decidueye use Sinister Arrow Raid, it's strongest attacking move which can blow through many aformentioned walls.
  • Grassium Z combined with Leaf Blade allows Decidueye to use a 175-Base Power Bloom Doom that can defeat foes such as Alomomola that Sinister Arrow Raid cannot.

Usage Tips
========

  • Decidueye's bulk, access to Swords Dance, and great STAB moves make it a threat to most bulky teams. It is an amazing stallbreaker that can break through Alomomola, Blissey, and Quagsire while also handeling Amoongus at +2 attack.
  • Decidueye with a lack of Roost does not have much offensive longevity. It should only be brought in on a free switch to preserve its HP.
  • Only set up a Swords Dance on a forced switch or when the opposing Pokemon is locked into a resisted attack.
  • As Spirit Shackle has less resistances than Leaf Blade it is optimal to be spammed to trap defensive threats.
  • Leaf Blade should only be used for offensive pressure where as Spirit Shackle is used for offensive utility.
  • Sinister Arrow Raid should only be used against walls that otherwise would not be killed. Its use is required against Pokemon like bulky Scizor and Mega Aggron.
  • Avoid putting Decidueye in situations where it can be burned. If it is burned its offensive presence is severely damaged.
Team Options
========

  • Choice Scarf users that are able to break through Dark- and Steel-type walls, such as Cobalion and Alolan Muk, like Infernape are good pairs for Decidueye.
  • Strong Dark-resistant special attackers like Primarina are excellent choices. Primarina threatens most of the physical walls with strong special attacks clearing the way for Decidueye to possibly sweep. Dark resists can pressure Pursuit users and make Decidueye a more efficient breaker.
  • Entry hazard support from Pokemon like Klefki, Hippowdon, and Gliscor make it easier for Decidueye to break down bulkier walls like Mega Aggron and Alomomola.
  • Hazard removal is also very useful as residual damage is detrimental to Decidueyes usefullness as a wallbreaker.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

  • Decidueye can possibly run Defog if there is no other Hazard removal. This is sub optimal since Decidueye doesn't have excellent defensive stats.
  • Sucker Punch can be used to allow Decidueye to not be revenged by fast Psychic and Ghost-type threats like Chandelure, Latias, and Gengar.
  • Roost allows Decidueye to be used more in a game. Roost gives it a favorable match up against Pokemon like Mega Aggron.
  • Life Orb can also be used if the team has another Z Move user, but it limits its wallbreaking capabilities by taking away its powerful attack.
Checks and Counters
===================

**Dark-type Pokemon**: Faster Dark-type Pokemon such as Hydreigon, Krookodile, and Mega Sharpedo are able to outspeed Decidueye and revenge kill it.

**Pokemon With Access To Pursuit: Pokemon like Krookodile, Scizor, and Mega Aerodactyl threaten Decidueye by Pursuit trapping it.

**Strong Physical Attackers**: Decidueye lacks physical bulk which makes it weak to strong physical attackers such as Mega Aerodactyl and Scizor.

**Physically Bulky Offensive Threats**: Pokemon like Cobalion, Scizor, and Stakataka all have high Defense Stats which allow them to live Decidueye's attacks and threaten it.

**Residual Damage**: If Decidueye does not have Roost it can easily be worn down by Stealth Rocks, Spikes, and Toxic Spikes which make it more easily revenge killed and less of an offensive threat.

**Scald And Willow Wisp Burns**: A burn limits Decidueyes offensive utility and decreases its offensive longevity making it a poor breaker.

hey, amcheck here, I would advise waiting for qc input before implementing anything

[OVERVIEW]

  • Decidueye's strength lies in its access to Swords Dance (this boosts its already good attack, and I would separate this sentence from the spectal thief one because expanding on swords dance by saying it has the base attack to utilise it well is good)
  • the strongest Physical Ghost type attack in the game (spectral thief is 90, so reword this to say a spammable physical ghost-type attack. I would also mention the trapping aspect here because it's really good for beating stuff like amoonguss and trapping alomomola so it doesn't just switch out to get all the hp it took from leaf blade back), and it's own signature Z-Move Sinister Arrow Raid.
  • would definitely mention its typing here; its offensive typing lets it pressure 2 key stall pokemon in alomomola and quagsire, and the fact that the unaware user, which is supposed to stop setup, can't take a hit makes it a decent breaker.
  • Decent all around bulk allows Decidueye to setup against most teams.
  • Suboptimal speed makes Decidueye vulnerable to most offensive teams.
  • With no way to boost it's speed and non STAB priority Decidueye is easily revenge killed. (by faster threats such as choice scarf hydreigon/infernape and mega manectric/aerodactyl)
  • With a lack of coverage Decidueye stuggles to break through Dark, Dragon, and Steel types like Hydreigon, Cobalion, and Scizor.

[SET]
Decidueye @ Decidium Z/Grassium Z
Ability: Overgrow
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe

The set is formatted wrong, and it should be done like this

[SET]
name: Swords Dance (or whatever you want to call the set)
move 1: Swords Dance
move 2: Spirit Shackle
move 3: Leaf Blade
move 4: Sucker Punch / Roost
item: Decidium Z / Grassium Z
ability: Overgrow
nature: Jolly
evs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe

Moves
========

  • Swords Dance allows Decidueye to boost its attack and release its powerful STABS or sweep with Sucker Punch. (give more examples and expand, say that it allows decidueye to threaten blissey and alomomola at +2 (2hko and roll to ohko respectively))
  • Spirit Shackle is a strong STAB with decent Base Power that traps any opposing Pokemon hit with the move. Decidueyes ability to trap gives it an opportunity to break through any Physical walls. (specify amoonguss here because at +2 zmove ohkoes and normal spirit shackle traps and 2hkoes so it can't get regenerator recovery from switching, and it can also check and trap mega aggron if roost is run, because boosted spirit shackle + z move will ko it)
  • Leaf Blade is another strong STAB move that is useful against the many bulky Water and Ground types in the tier like Suicune, Alomomola, Swampert and Hippowdon. (also hits trapped neutral targets harder than spirit shackle)
  • Sucker Punch makes up for Decidueyes lack of Speed and allows it to faster offensive threats like Latias and Starmie. (word missing here)
  • Roost is helpful if Decidueye is breaking through bulkier walls and gives it offensive longevity. (would expand on offsneive longevity for clarity by saying it allows decidueye to constantly check and trap threats like mega aggron, if its been chipped it could get koed by heavy slam before it can ko aggron) because these analyses are used by newer players a lot so clarification is good)

Set Details
========

  • Maximum Attack and Speed investment is optimal for Decidueye as it is an offensive sweeper.
  • A Jolly nature allows Decidueye to outspeed most walls (mention alo/quagsire because it can potentiaslly ko before they can scald) and slower offensive threats like Primarina.
  • Overgrow is Decidueye's only possible ability, it is useful when Decidueye is low on HP and is able to release powerful Leaf Blade's.
  • Decidium Z gives Decidueye it's strongest attacking move which can blow through many walls.
  • add a point about grassium z - nukes stuff like alomomola but isn't as good because then you're walled by mega aggron unless you're at like +6

Usage Tips
========

  • Decidueye's bulk, access to Swords Dance, and great STAB's make it a threat to most Bulky teams. (would definitely call it a wallbreaker here and make it clear the mons it can break like alomomola/quagsire/blissey at +2/amoonguss at +2 to emphasise this)
  • try to preserve its hp as much as possible especially if lacking roost, as it can't check amoonguss or aggron if it's low on hp. because of this, bring it in on free switches/voltturn
  • add a point on when to set up sd - on forced switches/against weaker/resisted attacks like earthquake/volt switch
  • spirit shackle is the most spammable move due to its trapping effect and fewer resists comapred to leaf blade
  • leaf blade should be used to threaten pokemon that it hits super effectively and as a stronger attack for trapped neutral pokemon (eg if you trap roost gliscor)
  • Sinister Arrow Raid should only be used against walls that otherwise would not be killed. Its use is required against Pokemon like bulky Scizor and Gliscor. (honestly not sure about gliscor here because leaf blade breaks it fine; I would mention aggron here instead)
  • Decidueye can't sweep until faster threats resistant to Sucker Punch have been dealt with. (not sure about calling it a sweeper at all because it's more of a breaker, so maybe reword this to say it can sweep less bulky teams if sucker punch resists like infernape, cobalion etc are eliminated, but it can be difficult due to sucker punch being non-stab and weak)
  • try to avoid burns from scald from the poekmon that it should be beating, as this limits its effectiveness severely

Team Options
========

  • Scarfers that are able to break through Dark and Steel type walls like Infernape and Cobalion are good pairs for Decidueye. (scarf cobalion isn't a thing so remove that. cobalion can be given as an example of a steel type though, and add alolan muk as a dark-type wall)
  • Strong Special attackers resistant to Dark types like Primarina are excellent choices. Primarina threatens most of the Physical walls with strong Special attacks clearing the way for Decidueye to possibly sweep. (emphasise that dark resists can threaten pursuit users for decidueye, so it's not threatened by this when it tried to break)
  • add entry hazard support so decidueye can break bulkier teams more easily (+2 252 Atk Decidueye Leaf Blade vs. 40 HP / 252+ Def Alomomola: 426-504 (88.5 - 104.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock) from pokemon like gliscor/hippowdon especially, as these can threaten steel and fire-types and switch in on them
  • hazard removal is also useful so decidueye isn't chipped a lot, removers like empoleon and tentacruel have decent synergy with decidueye

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

  • Decidueye can possibly run Defog if there is no other Hazard removal. This is sub optimal since Decidueye doesn't have excellent Defensive stats.
  • Substitute can help Decidueye set up against stall teams that rely on status to beat it, even though Decidueye already has a great match-up versus stall
  • possibly mention life orb here if the team has another z-move user, but it limits its wallbreaking capabilities and leaves it worn down too much

Checks and Counters
===================

This is also formatted incorrectly, use **Heading**: instead of bolding to work better with dex formatting

**Dark-type Pokemon**: Faster Dark-type Pokemon such as Hydreigon, Krookodile, and Mega Sharpedo resist Sucker Punch and can easily revenge kill Decidueye (mention pursuit from the aforementioned krookodile as well as alolan muk)

**Strong Physical Attackers**: Decidueye lacks physical bulk which makes it weak to strong physical attackers such as Mega Aerodactyl and Scizor. (a pursuit mention works well with scizor)

**Physically Bulky Offensive Threats**: Pokemon like Cobalion, Scizor, and Stakataka all have high Defense Stats which allow them to live Decidueye's attacks and threaten it.

**Residual Damage**: If Decidueye does not have Roost it can easily be worn down by Stealth Rocks, Spikes, and Toxic Spikes which make it more easily revenge killed and less of an offensive threat.

add revenge killers and burns - revenge killers stop decidueye's attempts to break the team and burns halve its attack so it doesn't threaten bulky teams anymore

you should probably implement at least some of what the amcheck says, like how you formatted the set wrong. QC would definitely point that out anyways and it gives your analysis a bad look off the bat (I'm just trying to help; I don't want to see QC start rejecting the analysis if it isn't up to snuff)

Hi, i dont wanna talk too much about the quality of this analysis as ur new to writing. A lot needs to happen as there's litteraly only 3 points in Team Options and Usage Tips lol. U should implement some of marthaa's am check because this will make it easier for QC to actually start checking. Though, I am not QC.

Decidueye @ Decidium Z / Grassium Z
Ability: Overgrow
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Spirit Shackle
- Leaf Blade
- Substitute

This is the set u should be using. The set u have rn is, uh. bad.

First of all, what marthaa did is an amateur check or amcheck for shlrt. Anyone can make one of those where they give their own comments. Next, the writer has the absolute right to decide what to implement and what not to in the amcheck, at least until QC says otherwise, so usually there's nothing wrong with waiting for QC input.

However, this doesn't mean completely ignoring it. You haven't even implemented something like correcting a wrong format for the set. Seriously, you've got another analysis in QC with the right format, so this is something you should already know.

At a glance, the analysis is lacking in a lot of details. Just from the overview alone, there's no mention of what exactly Decidueye does for a team and how what it has access to allows it to fulfil that role as opposed to simply having x arbitrarily. Fix these before QC officially get to it.

hey there, sorry this has been left so long
are you still interested in writing this analysis especially after the next big tier shift? if you are, can you please try to update it for the current meta and if not, feel free to let us know
