Been Working on this team for a few hours now with some success but I could definitely use some advice for any ways to make this team a bit more consistent.
Volcanion @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Steam Eruption
- Earth Power
- Sludge Wave
- Flamethrower
So firstly, I wanted to center the team around Scarf Volcanion. No real reason in particular I just have always thought this is an underrated mon. Pretty much just max-max-timid.
Moltres @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpA
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Mystical Fire
- Roost
- Defog
- Scorching Sands.
Next up is moltres. This pokemon really appreciates Volcanion for the water switch in and Moltres is a pretty reliable defogger overall. Just your basic set.
Landorus-Therian (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Impish Nature
- Toxic
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Protect
In order to help with the blatant electric weakness is the obligatory landorus. I decided on defensive lando as well (mainly to counter other lead-landorus).
Blissey (F) @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Soft-Boiled
- Teleport
- Seismic Toss
- Thunder Wave
In order to finish out the defensive core we have Blissey. Thunder wave + Volc flamethrower usually helps deal with mag as long as it doesnt have a million boosts (which it tends to get anyway). Bliss also helps with Spectrier and helps out the team on the special side.
Latios (M) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Draco Meteor
- Thunderbolt
- Psychic
- Trick
The next pokemon is Scarf-latios. This mon hits like a truck most of the time and also helps to deal with things like opposing blissey with trick. (In practice I seem to catch ferro more but Im not really in dire need of a ferro counter). Overall I just needed a quick mon that could help with the strong lack of damage on the team.
Tapu Fini @ Leftovers
Ability: Misty Surge
EVs: 252 Def / 252 SpA / 4 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Calm Mind
- Draining Kiss
- Taunt
- Surf
The final mon is set-up fini. It goes to show that even with defensive moltres and lando I still need a counter to Urshifu. This mon sets up pretty well once things like mag are gone and is more often than not the one that finishes games.
