DeoSharp and their Threatening Friends

Introduction

Hello and welcome to my new RMT ! This time I'm back with a playstyle I never tested as I love Stall or Balanced rather than Heavy Offense. But one day I felt a little boring with my old Full Stall team and decided to give HO a little try and wasn't disappointed at all. As I'm a beginner in this playstyle, I decided to use a core know for being quite efficient and threatening : the DeoSharp core.
But let's have a look at the team itself :

At first glance, this team seems pretty classic : DeoSharp core, a Fairy-Steel-Dragon offensive core and the very used Thundurus-I. I had a Keldeo instead of Azumarill in the beginning but after some advices from my tutor Remedy ( thanks to him btw for his great help ), I took the little blue bunny who fitted the team very well.

In-depth

deoxys-defense.gif

The Wall (Deoxys-Defense) @ Red Card
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Spd / 4 Def
Jolly Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Spikes
- Taunt
- Magic Coat

A pretty classic Deoxys-D. His goal is to set up as many hazards as he can while avoiding my opponent to set up them and then die. Taunt is for avoiding my opponent to set up in front of him and Magic Coat to win against another Deoxys-D or -S lead. Red Card is the most used item on him and for the good reason that it allows to do some Hazard Stacking.

Other ideas : I used to have Superpower on him and 44 EVs in Atk in order to beat Bisharp which is a good way to begin the match but as I already have this move on Thundurus I finally gave it up. Should I reconsider my choice ?

bisharp.gif

Black Knight (Bisharp) @ Life Orb
Ability: Defiant
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Knock Off
- Sucker Punch
- Iron Head
- Low Kick

The second obvious part of my DeoSharp core. With his amazing ability, Bisharp helps keeping the hazards on the field if my opponent fears my free set up if he tries to use Defog. This poke can destroy an entire unprepared team if he manages to get this boost, killing everything with his amazing STABs or priority. Knock Off and Iron Head are obvious STABs on him, the first removing annoying items like Choice ones, Leftovers, Assault Vest or Eviolite ( making Chansey very weak for example ). Sucker Punch is a very dangerous priority move if used correctly and Low Kick over Pursuit as I don't need to Pursuit a lot of things ( my team can handle Lati@s and Aegislash without it ) and to deal easier with other Bisharp or weakened Heatran for example.
EVs Spread is to hit very hard ( even more with the Life Orb boost ) and to outspeed as many things as possible.

Other ideas: Pursuit or Swords Dance over Low Kick
Black Glasses or the Plate over Life Orb as the recoil can sometimes be a little annoying

thundurus.gif

Zeus (Thundurus) (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Naive Nature
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Thunder Wave
- Superpower

The King of Gods : Thundurus-I. This poke is so amazing ! He can be a great special sweeper but my tutor Remedy told me I should use it as a mixed sweeper ( Focus Blast < Superpower especially due to the accuracy ). Actually, as Thunderbolt is his main STAB and HP Ice for Gliscor and Landorus, Superpower alwoys to beat some pokes such as Bisharp, Excadrill or weakened Heatran But he can also be a great utility poke with priority Thunder Wave which can stop a big sweep or just disturbing a Stall poke. Naive Nature and EVs spread are to hit hard with special moves and physical one, Life Orb to have even more power.

Other ideas: Focus Blast over Superpower to hit Excadrill harder but f..ck the bad accuracy.
Leftovers over Life Orb to increase staying power, especially if I have Rocks on my field.

azumarill.gif

Goya's Rabbit (Azumarill) @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Huge Power
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Waterfall
- Aqua Jet
- Play Rough
- Belly Drum

A classic but powerful BellyAzu was the thing my team missed at first. The blue bunny can set up against a lot of threats to other membres of the team like Conkeldurr. Waterfall and Play Rough for big STABs and Aqua Jet for nice priority are mandatory for him. 252 EVs Atk are obvious, 252 Spd to be faster than some threats and 4 SDef to increase bulkiness a little.
After the +6 giving by Belly Drum, Azumarill can sweep teams if the faster pokes have been killing before. The only thing I'm a little disappointed with is that despite of his Water type, he can't deal very easily with Talonflame who is already a big threat to my team.

Other ideas: Choice Band set
252 HP over 252 Spd or even another spread to be more bulky, I don't know
( maybe the 252 Spd are not needed... )

FsMKqrU.gif

GhostBuster (Aegislash) @ Air Balloon
Ability: Stance Change
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SAtk
Quiet Nature
IVs: 0 Spd
- Shadow Ball
- Shadow Sneak
- Sacred Sword
- King's Shield

My second special sweeper and also the second part of my Fairy-Steel-Dragon core. Aegislash is one of the most used poke in XY OU for a good reason. The set is pretty classic so I won't speak a lot about him. Shadow Ball for big STAB, Shadow Sneak for priority and revenge killing, Sacred Sword to deal with Bisharp or Tyranitar and King's Shield because it's King's Shield. EVs spread classic for this set and Quiet Nature + 0 Ivs speed to be sure I won't outspeed something and be killed because of his very low defenses in Blade-Form.
The biggest hesitation is for me the item. I prefer Leftovers on him by far but as my team is pretty weak to heavy Earthquake users like Excadrill who can kill Thundurus with ease, I decided to try Air Baloon after an advice from my tutor and it has been pretty effective until now so...

Other ideas: Leftovers over Air Baloon

charizard-megax-gif.12816

Sun Time (Charizard) @ Charizardite X
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Outrage
- Fire Punch
- Roost

Last but not least, my Mega : M-Charizard X. This guy is so powerful, breaking even great physical walls like Skarmory. After 2 Dragon Dance, he can OHKO nearly everything with Outrage which is an amazing STAB and my only answer to Quagsire if I hit him on the switch. Fire Punch for other STAB as I don't like Flare Blitz recoil which destroys his quite good bulkiness and Roost for increasing my staying power as I don't have anyway to clear the hazards on my field.
The nickname is to make my opponent thinks I'm using a M-Charizard Y ( I love when Blissey tries to wall me thinking that ). I'm still hesitating between Adamant and Jolly Nature as both can be interesting for him. Please tell me what you think about it.

Other ideas: Jolly Nature over Adamant to outspeed threats
Earthquake over Roost for Heatran ( even if I can set up on him as Remedy told me )

Last words

So this is my new HO Offfense, hoping you enjoyed it if you decided to try it ( feel free to post good replays ^^ ). I just would like to do a big shout-out to my tutor Remedy who helped me to improve it.
Thanks for reading and don't hesitate to comment !

Importable and replays coming soon

Great team :D But you should get one attacking move on your deo. A lot to chose from, Knock Off to hit Espeons, Superpower for ferros and T-tars os something else. And maybe Nasty Plot over T-wave? You can literally sweep any teams, if you manage to set up 1 or 2 times.
Flare Blitz over Fire Punch. Blitz gives you a lot more power, even though it involves some recoil damage. But otherwise, a great team.

Never, ever dont run twave thundy. Superpower>taunt/coat is commonly used for bisharp, to an extent ttar but thats about it. Twave is great too. Nice n standard deosharp btw :]

Thanks for the replies !

I agree with ApplepieFTW, T-Wave is really needed on Thundurus, it's maybe his greatest move and what makes him so useful. Nasty Plot is nice too but I can find room for it in my moveset so...

About Superpower I used to play with it before but I think I need both Taut and Coat ( the first for set-up sweepers and the second against opposing Deoxys ). Actually I have big problem with Deoxys-S who can Taunt me as he is faster and then proceed to set up the hazards and maybe even get a kill with Psycho Boost.
So what should I change : Taunt or Mirror Coat ?

Other ideas ?

And I also noticed that you run 252 speed EV's on your Azumarill, and I can understand why BUT Azumarill doesnt outspeed much. Therefor you should use those EV's on HP to make it bulky, because a 6+ aqua jet does a lot of damage, and then you can take som hits aswell

I use 252 EVs Speed on Azumarill because he sometimes need them. It's sometimes difficult to set up the Belly Drum and without the +6, Aqua Jet is not that threatening. So the speed helps me to hit with Play Rough or Waterfall for example. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Bump !

Please I really need help.
About Charizard, should I go with Flare Blitz and Dragon Claw or Outrage and Fire Punch ?

Flare blitz and dragon claw because locking yourself into outrage can give your opponent a free switch in into a fairy or steel type

Thanks for reply !

I know being locked sucks but Flare Blitz recoil can be very annoying and Outrage helps to kill some pokes on the switch or by its huge power like Quagsire ( who is very difficult to kill btw ). But if several people think I should use Dragon Claw and Flare Blitz then I will try this.

Other ideas about my whole team ? I know it's pretty classic and I would like to make it more different ^^

Try a Wobbuffet instead of Thunderus-I It actually works very well XD
oh btw you have a glaring dark weakness that Azumarill alone cannot cover for, perhaps add in AV Conkeldurr? not sure who to swap out though!

Wobbuffet sucks imo. If I wanted a Trapper I would have used Gothitelle instead.
The Dark weakness is not very annoying as Azumarill has enough bulk to take Dark moves with ease. Thundurus and Bisharp kill very easy Dark pokes with Superpower or Low Kick.

Other ideas ! About Charizard moveset or Superpower on Deoxys ?

i like your team :P
very nicely thought out :P

but i would consider adding a swords dance to your GhostBuster (Aegislash) @ Air Balloon
it really works for me !
if you get a x3 attack - a shadow sneak can take out anything with first hit and scared sword for the eggmons and others that resist :P
even a x2 will work very well !

hope i helped

Thanks for your reply MONKEY.D.LUFFY !

I agree Swords Dance can be amazing on Aegislash. The only problem is that it is not a Physical sweeper but a Special one. The goal of Aegislash is here to spam Shadow Ball to do big damages. Shadow Sneak and Sacred Sword are just a nice priority and a way to deal with my counter like Bisharp, Blissey or Tyranitar. And I already have 3 physical sweepers so...

oh sorry i didn't see that :P

umm i tried a mega charizard x with earthquake before and it worked very well !
it takes out quite a few steel and poison types but either than that - i think your team is perfect ! :P

i like it :P

your team is pretty weak to sand rush drill which is getting more common and can sweep your team. The only poke that can handle it is azumarill but after loosing a bit of health from belly drum it dies to a life orb eq because you have 75% of health.

252+ Atk Life Orb Mold Breaker Excadrill Earthquake vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Azumarill: 289-341 (84.7 - 100%) -- 6.3% chance to OHKO

so I would change it to the choice band set where it can still kill conk and can survive talonflame's choice band adamant bb and ko back with waterfall.

252+ Atk Choice Band Talonflame Brave Bird vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Azumarill: 283-334 (70 - 82.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock

Hope I helped!

Thanks for the replies !

MONKEY.D.LUFFY:

Earthquake is nice for M-Charizard X to kill Heatran very easily but as I can set up in front of him, I prefer Roost which increases my stay power.
I'm happy that you enjoy my team ! But my team isn't perfect as I'm not the first on the ladder ( I think it's also me who make big missplays but don't say anything ^^ )

hey yal:

True, I'm very weak to Sand Rush Excadrill and I have difficulties to fix this weakness... It's because of him that Aegislash hold an Air Baloon and not Leftovers.
About Azumarill, the Choice Band set is amazing ( I used to play with it a lot ) but I also like Belly Drum huge power who is one of my biggest win condition. I will test for sure though.

I will add some replays and the threat list soon but I'm still busy this week ( exams... ).

Other ideas about my team ?

Thanks for the reply !

Yeah Quagsire is very annoying and Grass Knot is a nice idea but it will be difficult to find room for this move.
I'm thinking to do Superpower > Magic Coat on Deoxys-D and giving him a Mental Herb to avoid being Taunted and then Taunt my opponent.
If I do that, I may change Superpower on Thundurus or Low Kick on Bisharp for Grass Knot but I don't know if it will be that useful.

Should I do this ?

Hello, really nice team here.

Firstly you probably should run Timid>Jolly on Deoxys-Defense, since it takes you less foul play and confusion damage.

Quagsire and Mega Venusaur look like a huge pain in the ass against your team, and Charizard is really your only way that you can take down both. However it also comes with a dreadful Stealth Rock weakness and you can't really stop your opponent from getting it up after Deoxys-Defense dies. Perhaps you can run Mega Gyarados>Charizard since Mold Breaker Ice Fang does a huge chunk to Mega Venusaur and Mold Breaker negates Quagsire's Unaware.

You may also want to change Hidden Power [Ice] to flying on Thundurus-I to hit Mega Venusaur since you have dragons covered anyway (azu+aegi).

Hi and thanks for the reply !

Timid > Jolly on Deoxys-D seems nice. I will definitely change this.
About Gyarados, why not but I already have a good Water type with Azumarill. It's a nice idea though so I will test it and replace Azu by something else.
And for HP Ice, its goal is to hit Gliscor, Landorus-I or T and Garchomp so I will keep it.

Other ideas ?
