Introduction
Hello and welcome to my new RMT ! This time I'm back with a playstyle I never tested as I love Stall or Balanced rather than Heavy Offense. But one day I felt a little boring with my old Full Stall team and decided to give HO a little try and wasn't disappointed at all. As I'm a beginner in this playstyle, I decided to use a core know for being quite efficient and threatening : the DeoSharp core.
But let's have a look at the team itself :
Team Preview
At first glance, this team seems pretty classic : DeoSharp core, a Fairy-Steel-Dragon offensive core and the very used Thundurus-I. I had a Keldeo instead of Azumarill in the beginning but after some advices from my tutor Remedy ( thanks to him btw for his great help ), I took the little blue bunny who fitted the team very well.
In-depth
The Wall (Deoxys-Defense) @ Red Card
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Spd / 4 Def
Jolly Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Spikes
- Taunt
- Magic Coat
A pretty classic Deoxys-D. His goal is to set up as many hazards as he can while avoiding my opponent to set up them and then die. Taunt is for avoiding my opponent to set up in front of him and Magic Coat to win against another Deoxys-D or -S lead. Red Card is the most used item on him and for the good reason that it allows to do some Hazard Stacking.
Other ideas : I used to have Superpower on him and 44 EVs in Atk in order to beat Bisharp which is a good way to begin the match but as I already have this move on Thundurus I finally gave it up. Should I reconsider my choice ?
Black Knight (Bisharp) @ Life Orb
Ability: Defiant
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Knock Off
- Sucker Punch
- Iron Head
- Low Kick
The second obvious part of my DeoSharp core. With his amazing ability, Bisharp helps keeping the hazards on the field if my opponent fears my free set up if he tries to use Defog. This poke can destroy an entire unprepared team if he manages to get this boost, killing everything with his amazing STABs or priority. Knock Off and Iron Head are obvious STABs on him, the first removing annoying items like Choice ones, Leftovers, Assault Vest or Eviolite ( making Chansey very weak for example ). Sucker Punch is a very dangerous priority move if used correctly and Low Kick over Pursuit as I don't need to Pursuit a lot of things ( my team can handle Lati@s and Aegislash without it ) and to deal easier with other Bisharp or weakened Heatran for example.
EVs Spread is to hit very hard ( even more with the Life Orb boost ) and to outspeed as many things as possible.
Other ideas: Pursuit or Swords Dance over Low Kick
Black Glasses or the Plate over Life Orb as the recoil can sometimes be a little annoying
Zeus (Thundurus) (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Naive Nature
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Thunder Wave
- Superpower
The King of Gods : Thundurus-I. This poke is so amazing ! He can be a great special sweeper but my tutor Remedy told me I should use it as a mixed sweeper ( Focus Blast < Superpower especially due to the accuracy ). Actually, as Thunderbolt is his main STAB and HP Ice for Gliscor and Landorus, Superpower alwoys to beat some pokes such as Bisharp, Excadrill or weakened Heatran But he can also be a great utility poke with priority Thunder Wave which can stop a big sweep or just disturbing a Stall poke. Naive Nature and EVs spread are to hit hard with special moves and physical one, Life Orb to have even more power.
Other ideas: Focus Blast over Superpower to hit Excadrill harder but f..ck the bad accuracy.
Leftovers over Life Orb to increase staying power, especially if I have Rocks on my field.
Goya's Rabbit (Azumarill) @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Huge Power
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Waterfall
- Aqua Jet
- Play Rough
- Belly Drum
A classic but powerful BellyAzu was the thing my team missed at first. The blue bunny can set up against a lot of threats to other membres of the team like Conkeldurr. Waterfall and Play Rough for big STABs and Aqua Jet for nice priority are mandatory for him. 252 EVs Atk are obvious, 252 Spd to be faster than some threats and 4 SDef to increase bulkiness a little.
After the +6 giving by Belly Drum, Azumarill can sweep teams if the faster pokes have been killing before. The only thing I'm a little disappointed with is that despite of his Water type, he can't deal very easily with Talonflame who is already a big threat to my team.
Other ideas: Choice Band set
252 HP over 252 Spd or even another spread to be more bulky, I don't know
( maybe the 252 Spd are not needed... )
GhostBuster (Aegislash) @ Air Balloon
Ability: Stance Change
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SAtk
Quiet Nature
IVs: 0 Spd
- Shadow Ball
- Shadow Sneak
- Sacred Sword
- King's Shield
My second special sweeper and also the second part of my Fairy-Steel-Dragon core. Aegislash is one of the most used poke in XY OU for a good reason. The set is pretty classic so I won't speak a lot about him. Shadow Ball for big STAB, Shadow Sneak for priority and revenge killing, Sacred Sword to deal with Bisharp or Tyranitar and King's Shield because it's King's Shield. EVs spread classic for this set and Quiet Nature + 0 Ivs speed to be sure I won't outspeed something and be killed because of his very low defenses in Blade-Form.
The biggest hesitation is for me the item. I prefer Leftovers on him by far but as my team is pretty weak to heavy Earthquake users like Excadrill who can kill Thundurus with ease, I decided to try Air Baloon after an advice from my tutor and it has been pretty effective until now so...
Other ideas: Leftovers over Air Baloon
Sun Time (Charizard) @ Charizardite X
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Outrage
- Fire Punch
- Roost
Last but not least, my Mega : M-Charizard X. This guy is so powerful, breaking even great physical walls like Skarmory. After 2 Dragon Dance, he can OHKO nearly everything with Outrage which is an amazing STAB and my only answer to Quagsire if I hit him on the switch. Fire Punch for other STAB as I don't like Flare Blitz recoil which destroys his quite good bulkiness and Roost for increasing my staying power as I don't have anyway to clear the hazards on my field.
The nickname is to make my opponent thinks I'm using a M-Charizard Y ( I love when Blissey tries to wall me thinking that ). I'm still hesitating between Adamant and Jolly Nature as both can be interesting for him. Please tell me what you think about it.
Other ideas: Jolly Nature over Adamant to outspeed threats
Earthquake over Roost for Heatran ( even if I can set up on him as Remedy told me )
Last words
So this is my new HO Offfense, hoping you enjoyed it if you decided to try it ( feel free to post good replays ^^ ). I just would like to do a big shout-out to my tutor Remedy who helped me to improve it.
Thanks for reading and don't hesitate to comment !
