'Sup, guys? I got bored and wanted to build a team around Diggersby. The result was a balanced team. I'm quite happy to reach 1585, but I feel like I need some help to get further. I feel like I can improve this team with your help.
Hustla tha Rabbit (Diggersby) (M) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Huge Power
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Return
- Earthquake
- Quick Attack
- Swords Dance
Hustla tha Rabbit in the house, man! Apparently, I wanted to build a team around this broken bunny. With Swords Dance, Hustla can punch (or dig) holes in the opposing team. I use this bunny early-game to weaken walls for Mega Pinsir to sweep late-game. Quick Attack is a good move for revenge killing.
2-Bit (Pinsir) (M) @ Pinsirite
Ability: Hyper Cutter
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Return
- Earthquake
- Quick Attack
2-Bit is here to fill up the last spot of the Swords Dance spam core. He is like Hustla's homie (hence the gangster name); they can weaken their checks together and wreak havoc. Earthquake is used to hit Heatran, Tyranitar, and Jirachi. Return and Quick Attack are for dealing major damage and revenge killing, respectively.
The Plant (Celebi) @ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 HP / 156 Def / 84 SpD / 16 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Giga Drain
- Recover
- Thunder Wave
- Stealth Rock
The Plant is crucial to carry out paralysis support and set up Stealth Rocks. It it a catch-all (or catch-most?) check to notable physical attackers, like Azumarill, Mega Lopunny, and Breloom. Giga Drain is a STAB move for those living under a rock, and Recover is mandatory.
Mexican Wolverine (Weavile) @ Life Orb
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Icicle Crash
- Knock Off
- Ice Shard
- Pursuit
The Mexican Wolverine can Pursuit trap annoying and fast Pokemon, like Tornadus-t and Gengar. Icicle Crash and Knock Off are a no-brainer, and Ice Shard can revenge kill.
Swanggin (Heatran) @ Power Herb
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Magma Storm
- Earth Power
- Taunt
- Solar Beam
Swanggin is a crucial component with the stallbreaker set, as it can get rid of obnoxious walls that can trouble my team, especially the imfamous Mega Sableye. Therefore, Magma Storm and Taunt are needed. Earth Power is good for taking down opposing Heatran as well as Charizard X without Earthquake.
I found VoltTurn cores to be annoying, so I chose to have Solar Beam to punish Rotom-w.
Snipars (Starmie) @ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 248 HP / 16 SpD / 244 Spe
Timid Nature
- Reflect Type
- Scald
- Rapid Spin
- Recover
Snipars is needed to spin away hazards.
Offensive variants can't switch into crap. This one, though, can Rapid Spin more reliably and occasionally multiple times. It has Reflect Type to prevent being Pursuit trapped by Tyranitar and friends, while Scald can burn switch-ins. Since this is a bulky set, Snipars has Natural Cure, Recover, and Leftovers.
Replays: In the replays, my Pokemon do not have the exact sets as the ones above. For instance, until replay 3, Swanggin was the specially defensive variant.
1. http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/ou-245088664 diggersby 5-0
2. http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/ou-245095871 had some trouble with the Jirachi-Landorus-tTurn core, lost battle. I decided to get the bulkier variant of Starmie, as it died from an Earthquake after Stealth Rock
3. http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/ou-245149385 celebi had Stealth rock, and heatran was the stallbreaker variant. Magma Storm hitting every time though... Wasn't so fair... If only my heatran did not survive that low kick... (It would really stink!)
4. http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/ou-245165525 what happens when you don't have a fairy type...
5. http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/ou-245169108 volt turn cores... Next time I'm teaching heatran solarbeam
6. http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/ou-244995536 Good job, Plant, I'm proud of ya.
Threat list: When editing my team, I strive to cover as many threats as I can. So far, I do not find any particular Pokemon extremely threatening to my team. However, U-turn cores pose as problems sometimes.
Mega Charizard X: Not much of a threat. I just need to be aware to preserve Hustla's Focus Sash when battling Earthquake variants, though.
Talonflame: Swanggin cannot really check it well, and I have to make sure Hustla's Focus Sash is not broken. Talonflame can easily revenge kill 2-Bit, Mexican Wolverine, and Snipars. Maybe I should replace Solar Beam with Toxic on Swanggin...
Landours-t and Scarfed Jirachi U-turn core: I find this obscenely annoying, if you look at replay 2, although I did not play so well in that battle. Nevertheless, the core can wear my team down easily and take my momentum away. Overall, many VoltTurn/U-turn cores are a bother as well.
Mega Sableye: I do not have much trouble beating them with Swanggin. However, I have to watch out for Calm Mind variants. Replay 4 shows this, though I had some bad luck, too (2-Bit gets KOed by a critical hit Dark Pulse).
Manaphy: Ugh... Ice Beam variants can be a hassle, as they hit The Plant. I have to make sure Swanggin survives a Scald and then hits them back with a Solar Beam. Otherwise, I have to take pains to revenge kill it with either Hustla, 2-Bit, or Mexican Wolverine. However, I never lost to Manaphy, so it probably isn't so bad after all.
Tornadus-t: Mexican Wolverine has a fun time Pursuit trapping it to death. Also, The Plant can take a Hurricane or Knock Off and cripple it with Thunder Wave, leaving Tornadus-t open to being killed by Hustla and 2-Bit. In this case though, I just have to pray that the green bird does not hit The Plant with U-turn.
Mamoswine: It is relatively hard to switch in to it, but Snipars and 2-Bit can revenge kill it, although 2-Bit would take a lot of damage from Ice Shard.
Weavile: Only Swanggin and Hustla have a chance of killing it. Swanggin will lose to Low Kick variants. However, Mexican Wolverine can pick off weakened ones with Knock, given that it is healthy enough to take a Knock Off itself.
Maybe there are more threats than the ones above, so let me know in the comments! I feel like this team needs pivots, as they benefit my sweepers. It is relatively hard for my sweepers to get momentum due to the lack of pivots, so I present to you the Possible Additions of the Future!
---Possible Additions of the Future:---
Hyper Offensive variant:
-Scarfed Magnezone, Offensive Landorus-t, Rain Dance + Tail Glow Manaphy, and Memento Latios are replacements in the HO variant of my team. I'm currently using this team in my test account, so I do not know much about it currently. Maybe I will discuss this in my next thread.
Replacing Snipars with a more reliable hazard controller: I don't find Snipars fitting to my team. I feel like there is a more reliable Spinner/Defogger, like Latios and Mew.
Thanks, guys, for your help!
