Diggersby [QC 0/3]

[OVERVIEW]

-Thanks to its decent offensive typing in Normal / Ground and ability, Huge Power, Diggersby is a good choice for a wallbreaker in the UU tier.
-It also has two immunities to Ghost- and Electric-type attacks, meaning it can be used as a switch in to those moves.
-However, it is held back somewhat by its average Speed tier that just misses out on outspeeding Pokemon with a Speed boosting nature in the base 80s, such as Mamoswine and Gyarados.
-It is also weak to Ice, Water, and Fighting, which are extremely common attacking types.

[SET]
name: Choice Band
move 1: Earthquake
move 2: Body Slam
move 3: Quick Attack
move 4: Fire Punch / U-turn
item: Choice Band
ability: Huge Power
nature: Jolly / Adamant
evs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

Paragraph 1
-Earthquake is a powerful and spammable STAB move that OHKOs many popular Pokemon in the tier such as Bisharp, Nidoqueen, and Jirachi.
-Body Slam hits most of the things that Earthquake can't decently hard, and the 30% chance of paralysis can slow opponents down to a point where Diggersby can outspeed and KO them.
-Quick Attack can help it clean up weakened teams late-game, after any Ghost-types have been KO'd, of course. Sometimes, Diggersby can use this move to act as a revenge killler.
-Fire Punch allows Diggersby to kill Amoongus, Celesteela, and 2HKO Skarmory if Stealth Rock has been set up. U-turn should also be considered to maintain momentum, but without Fire Punch, it's walled by the aforementioned Skarmory and Celesteela.
-A Jolly Nature is preferred to outspeed Timid Nidoqueen and Celesteela, but an Adamant Nature can be used for extra power.

Paragraph 2
-Diggersby fits in on VoltTurn teams that can safely get it on the field, and Hyper Offense teams that want something with immediate power that doesn't require a boost.
-Slowking is a good partner for Choice Band Diggersby, as it can bring it in safely with Teleport and also restore its own HP with Regenerator.
-Rotom-H forms a nice VoltTurn core with it, as Diggersby can KO the Rock-types that threaten it, and Diggersby appreciates Rotom-H's resistance to Grass- and Ice- type attacks. However, they are both weak to Water, so a Grass-type such as Assault Vest Tangrowth would be beneficial as well.

[SET]
name: Swords Dance
move 1: Swords Dance
move 2: Earthquake
move 3: Quick Attack
move 4: Fire Punch
item: Life Orb
ability: Huge Power
nature: Adamant
evs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

Paragraph 1
-Swords Dance boosts Diggersby's already impressive Attack to 928, which makes it extremely hard to switch in to.
-As mentioned earlier, Earthquake is a ridiculously powerful STAB move that is easy to spam, and at +2, OHKOs a lot of the tier's defensive Pokemon, such as Amoongus, Slowking, and Chansey.
-Quick Attack is for killing things that are faster than Diggersby, like Latias and Keldeo.
-Fire Punch is used so that it isn't completely walled by Grass-types, Skarmory, and Celesteela.

Paragraph 2
-Because Diggersby is incredibly frail, this set is best for later in the game on Bulky Offense teams, when most of the things that outspeed it have been eliminated.
-Speedy Psychic-types like Latias are good choices for partners, as they can kill the Fighting-types that threaten Diggersby earlier in the game.
-Slowking is also a good partner, as it brings Diggersby in safely with Teleport.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============
-Wild Charge can be used instead of Fire Punch to hit Water-types, but it isn't recommended because Fire Punch hits more of Diggersby's weaknesses super effectively.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Fighting-types**: Fighting is a very prominent type in UU, and most of them run Close Combat, which will OHKO Diggersby no matter what Pokemon its being used by.

**Physically Defensive Tangrowth**: Both Choice Band and Swords Dance Diggersby are checked by Tangrowth, as it survives two Fire Punches from Choice Band Diggersby and the Swords Dance variant needs to get a boost before it can kill it. It can also put Diggersby to sleep using Sleep Powder and severely damage it with Giga Drain.

-It also has two immunities to Ghost- and Electric-type attacks, meaning it can be used as a switch in to those moves. This doesn't really matter other than maybe helping it with set up opportunities but even then every elec or ghost type can threaten Diggersby

Add a line here about having access to Swords Dance, which makes it a scary wallbreaker and late-game cleaner.

I'd add how this + having rather mediocre bulk gives Diggersby very few opportunities to set up safely with Swords Dance.

Paragraph 1
-Earthquake is a powerful and spammable STAB move that OHKOs many popular Pokemon in the tier such as Bisharp, Nidoqueen, and Jirachi. filler

-Body Slam hits most of the things that Earthquake can't decently hard, Just list some examples here of Ground resists/immunities and the 30% chance of paralysis can slow opponents down to a point where Diggersby can outspeed and KO them.

-Quick Attack can help it clean up weakened teams late-game, after any Ghost-types have been KO'd, of course. Sometimes, Diggersby can use this move to act as a revenge killler. It should primarily be used to revenge kill weakened foes more so than to sweep. So change this up. List some examples of weakened foes it should aim to revenge with Quick Attack

-Fire Punch allows Diggersby to 2HKO Celesteela, Skarmory after Stealth Rock damage, and physically defensive Tangrowth. kill Amoongus, Celesteela, and Skarmory if Stealth Rock has been set up. Amoonguss takes the same from EQ as FIre Punch U-turn should also be considered to maintain momentum, but without Fire Punch, it's walled by the aforementioned Skarmory and Celesteela.

-A Jolly Nature is preferred to outspeed Timid Nidoqueen and Jolly Tapu Bulu Celesteela, but an Adamant Nature can be used for extra power, notably allowing it to KO the Rotom formes with Body Slam.

Paragraph 2
-Diggersby fits in on VoltTurn teams that can safely get it on the field, and Hyper Offense teams that want something with immediate power that doesn't require a boost. If you were to put it on HO I'd definitely be using SD.

-Slowking is a good partner for Choice Band Diggersby, as it can bring it in safely with Teleport. and also restore its own HP with Regenerator.

CB Diggersby is rather mediocre compared to SD so just remove the set. I have some comments in there I was too lazy to remove but we discussed it internally to nuke this set to oo.

move 1: Swords Dance
move 2: Earthquake
move 3: Quick Attack
move 4: Fire Punch Mega Kick / Fire Punch
item: Life Orb / Silk Scarf

[SET COMMENTS]

Paragraph 1
-Swords Dance boosts Diggersby's already impressive Attack to 928, which makes it extremely hard to switch in to. Instead of saying this just list some examples of OHKOs it picks up with Mega Kick or Earthquake. Also, note how it makes it a fairly decent late-game cleaner with QA.

-As mentioned earlier, Earthquake is a ridiculously powerful STAB move that is easy to spam, and at +2, OHKOs a lot of the tier's defensive Pokemon, such as Amoongus, Slowking, and Chansey.

-Quick Attack can also be used to revenge kill is for killing things that are faster threats than Diggersby, like Latias and Keldeo.

-Fire Punch is used so that it isn't completely walled by Grass-types, Skarmory, and Celesteela. Reword this because Mega Kick means it isn't completely walled by Grass-types and it even chunks Celesteela. You wanna mention Fire Punch as an option to OHKO Celesteela and Skarmory if its Sturdy is broken.

Mention Body Slam as a safer option than Mega Kick but it misses out on OHKOing Phys Def Tangrowth after an SD

Bring up LO vs Silk Scarf

Add a line on Jolly and Adamant

Paragraph 2
-Because Diggersby is incredibly frail, this set is best for later in the game on Bulky Offense teams, when most of the things that outspeed it have been eliminated. It also fits well on hyper offense teams so I would just be generic and say it fits on offense teams.

-Speedy Psychic-types like Latias are good choices for partners, as they can kill the Fighting-types that threaten Diggersby earlier in the game. The Psychic-type partners don't have to be fast to check Fighting-types. But the Latias mention is good. I would expand on it more and how it appreciates Diggerbsy's ability to remove Celesteela for CM sets to clean more easily.

-Slowking is also a good partner, as it brings Diggersby in safely with Teleport. You can expand on this a bit more about some things it helps check defensively.

Very lacking in info. Add Grimmsnarl that can provide screens support to help Diggerbsy set up more easily. Mention some Sticky Web users that make up for its low Speed tier. Mention some hazard setters like Krookodile and Mew. Give some late-game cleaners like Celesteela and Polteageist that appreciate Diggersby's wallbreaking potential.

Other Options
=============
-Wild Charge can be used instead of Fire Punch to hit Water-types, but it isn't recommended because Fire Punch hits more of Diggersby's weaknesses super effectively. Not rly worth the mention

Mention the following:

Choice Band

Choice Scarf
Chople Berry on SD sets for Zeraora

Checks and Counters

**Fighting-types**: Fighting is a very prominent type in UU, and most of them run Close Combat, which will OHKO Diggersby no matter what Pokemon its being used by.

It can also put Diggersby to sleep using Sleep Powder and severely damage it with Giga Drain.

I don't really like these headers. I would use the following:

Faster Pokemon
Physically Defensive Pokemon

Strong Priority Users (e.g. Crawdaunt, Mamoswine, Scizor, Bisharp, etc.)

These three should basically cover everything
