The Team

This is a team I made awhile back when I had the idea of using Ditto as the center of my team. I felt Ditto had an especially cool niche in the UU tier. It could make the opponent wary of setting up with their DD Mence or SD Gatr and such thus makes a pretty great answer to hyper offensive teams but not so much on the other side of the spectrum. As I made this team awhile back I have very little of what my thought process was when I made this team but I thought I share this cool team and to get some good suggestions and feedback on how to improve this team significantly and without further ado onto the team explanation.

Ditto @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Imposter
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Transform

As first mentioned in the introduction I made this team centered around Ditto. From what I could remember when I tested this team Ditto did absolutely nothing against stall and fat teams but did very well in pressuring my opponents and making them wary of setting up. When I tested this team I always, if not, most of the time I kept Ditto in the back to scare my opponents. The set I'm using for Ditto is pretty standard; max max on both Spe and Atk for maximum damage output and the scarf allows me to outspeed mons such as Salamence at +1.

Heliolisk @ Life Orb
Ability: Dry Skin
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Volt Switch
- Hyper Voice
- Grass Knot
- Thunderbolt

Looking back to when I made this team and how it turned out I don't think I put to much effort into building the team and I most likely just slapped on a bunch of mons together so for that reasoning a random Heliolisk appeared on my team. As what all Heliolisks do they make great checks to water types in the tier and breaking down and weakening mons such as Nidoqueen and Swampert which other Electric types are unable to do. This is a standard Smogon Heliolisk set running 252 on Spe and SpA with Life Orb.

Cobalion @ Shuca Berry
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Volt Switch
- Iron Head
- Close Combat
- Swords Dance

Cobalion was most likely added onto the team as a pair with Heliolisk as a core seeing as it's a very good offensive core that most teams cannot deal with. I particularly, am a big fan and user of this core, probably chose this core specifically to go with Ditto to probably handle more fat teams. This Cobalion set should be pretty standard in the current UU metagame seeing how Mamo has made quite an impact on the tier. Shuca Berry is there to tank a single EQ or earth type move and KO Mamoswine with CC. Swords Dance allows Cobalion to break down Pokemon such as Blissey, Florges, and Umbreon allowing for Heliolisk to clean after. Volt Switch is there to gain momentum alongside with Heliolisk.

Gardevoir @ Life Orb
Ability: Trace
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Healing Wish
- Psyshock
- Moonblast
- Focus Blast

Gardevoir acts as a very good mon against really bulky and slow teams which you will encounter when you're a bit higher on the ladder. This team was made relatively near the time when Gardevoir dropped down to UU and when everyone was testing different sets. With Gardevoir's high SpA base power alongside a Life Orb this set can easily broke down walls (beside Mandibuzz). The ev's are put into Spe and Atk to allow Gardevoir to outspeed most if not all defensive mons you will encounter in the tier and kill them. The modest nature was chosen over timid since I didn't see the benefit of it (at the time) since it was pretty slow outspeeding almost nothing relevant and the modest nature allowed for more damage output.

Swampert-Mega @ Swampertite
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Rain Dance
- Waterfall
- Earthquake
- Stealth Rock

Swampert being my choice of mega and my stealth rocker serves the purpose of setting up rocks and possibly serves as a mid-game sweeper to late-game sweeper should the time arises. Mega Swampert also serves as a good M-Aerodactyl check and fire check in the tier. 252 in Spe and Atk with a jolly nature allows it to outspeed the entire tier (I think Unburden boosted Slurpuff outspeeds M-Swampert in rain but I don't know for sure).

Whimsicott @ Life Orb
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- U-turn
- Encore
- Giga Drain
- Moonblast

Whimsicott is a great mon to have in hyper offensive teams. It serves to check mons in the tier like M-Sceptile, Feraligatr, and M-Sharpedo, to an extent. U-turn is there for momentum and encore is there to ensure that I can lock Feraligatr or Salamence into DD should they choose to do so and forces them to switch.

Thanks for reading and/or reviewing my RMT and I'll be back with a more well developed team next time :]]]

Hey there! Nice team :), I think Ditto is pretty cool and could be really fun to use. Just got a couple of suggestions for you to try out.

  • With Entei being the most prominent fire type in the tier, even Mega Swampert isn't all that great of a fire check. It wouldn't like to switch into Sacred Fire with that 50% chance to get burned in the process. I think it may do your team more good if you replaced Mega Swampert with defensive regular Swampert. This change gives you a much more solid fire check, as standard regular Swampert is a pretty solid fire check and doesn't mind the burn as much as most other mons would. Here's the set:

Swampert @ Leftovers
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Atk / 252 Def
Relaxed Nature
- Scald
- Earthquake
- Roar
- Stealth Rock

  • I also noticed that your team very much struggles with fairy types, as Cobalion is your best bet at dealing with them and even that doesn't want to switch in to fairies. Seeing as you currently have two fairies and that the previous change opens up your mega slot, you should consider replacing Gardevoir with Mega Beedrill. Whimsicott is definitely the more important of the two fairies here as it has Prankster + Encore, is much faster, and is a better check to dragons. Gardevoir on the other hand, is pretty slow and seems rather expendable. Mega Beedrill in its place would give you an answer to fairies, a good boost in speed, and adds on to the Volturn that you have going to give you more chances at bringing in Ditto safely. It also gives you a grounded poison type so that you could remove Toxic Spikes, which is nice considering that the team has no hazard control aside from Ditto switching in on a spinner/defogger. Here's the set:

beedrill-mega.gif

Beedrill-Mega @ Beedrillite
Ability: Adaptability
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Poison Jab
- Knock Off
- Protect
- U-turn

Other Options:
  • You could consider running Stone Edge over Volt Switch on Cobalion to give you more help with certain threats such as Zapdos, Gyarados, and Chandelure.
  • Running Stun Spore over U-turn on Whimsicott could give you the ability to cripple fast threats, in exchange for not being able to pivot out safely with it. You would have MBee and Heliolisk however, so it may be something worth considering.

I hope I helped, and good luck with the team!

Thanks for the suggestions and rating. Since I made this team awhile back and don't have much of an idea of where to start fixing the team I'll start off with inputting your suggestions and see how it works out.

Hey, the fact you're using Ditto is awesome! I suggest changing its EV spread though. Investing in anything other than HP is pretty pointless, since Ditto copies all of its target's stats apart from HP.

ditto.gif

Ditto @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Imposter
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Atk / 252 Def
Relaxed Nature
IVs: 30 Atk / 30 SpA / 1 Spe
- Transform

This is the set I like to use, since it beats opposing Ditto in a Struggle war (however rare that may be.) With those IVs, it can use Hidden Power Grass if it copies a Pokemon with Hidden Power. 30 Atk / 30 Def / 1 Spe can be used if you prefer Hidden Power Ice, but I think Grass is more useful in UU to hit Swampert.

Hope I helped ^^
