As I usually run mixed teams, with two or three bulky support mons to help the offensive ones to sweep, this time I decided to go for a more defensive approach, having 4 bulky utility mons and 2 boosting attackers. The result is pretty decent.
Details:
Heatran (f) @ Leftovers
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 Spd / 8 Def / 244 HP
Timid Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Substitute
- Lava Plume
- Earth Power
Standard special wall Heatran. Easily forces switches, so is extremely easy to set up either SR or the Sub. After the mandatory stab fire move, I decided for Eath Power to win against opposing Heatran, sacrificing hp ice and Ancient Power (which would actually work gratly, considering that this thing would be the perfect check/counter for Talonflame and Char Y).
Tritone (Milotic) (m) @ Leftovers
Ability: Marvel Scale
EVs: 252 Def / 4 Spd / 252 HP
Bold Nature
- Scald
- Icebeam
- Dragonpulse
- Recover
Second piece of the defensive cose is Milotic, which works even as status absorber, boosting it Def to ridicoulous levels. Just an example:
252+ Atk Expert Belt Electivire Wild Charge vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Marvel Scale Milotic: 209-247 (53 - 62.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery and burn damage
Non bad against one of the strongest physical electric moves in the game.
It works greatly as a burner and staller (especially with Toxic support, provided by Venusaur), and provides elemental coverage. Dragonpulse is there for Char X and to have neutral coverage against weakened opponents, which think they'll rexist the obvious water/ice combination, but WHOPS.
Amazo (Venusaur) (m) @ Venusaurite
Ability: Clorophyll/Thick Fat
EVs: 252 Hp / ??? Spd / ??? HP (sorry, I don't remember the values, but it's a balanced distribution between the two)
Timid Nature (don't complain, it's a breed for a sun sweeper)
- Toxic
- Leech Seed
- Sludge Bomb
- Gigadrain
Another cornerstone for this team is Mega V, who spreads toxic and seeds like there was no tomorrow. It's also a great wall against the weaknesses of the afore mentioned team members, and the three share a great sinergy.
The team especially appreciates the Leech Seed: they make much easier the switch ins. Unfortunately this set is set up baith for Heatran and especially Ferrothorn, but that's nothing impossibile to handle for the others.
Cinzia (Sylveon) (m) @ Leftovers
Ability: Cute Charm (back then HA wasn't yet avaiable)
EVs: 252 Def / 4 Spa / 252 HP
Modest Nature
- Moonblast
- Shadow Ball
- Wish
- Protect
I actually use rarely this guy, which is weird, 'cause on other teams he does most of the job, but that's actually a prove of how good the defensive core of the team is good. Investment in Def, combined with natural high Spd, makes him an excellent mixed wall. And the ability to pass Wish is always good (especially to Heatran, which covers all his weaknesses). By the way, this set makes wonders, and is also a great check to Aegislash, if lacks Iron Head (which they often do, i realized, but anyway, Protect is there to scout).
Sharkanado (Garchomp) (f) @ Life Orb
Ability: Rough Skin
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Spa / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Dragon Claws
- Iron Head
- Fire Blast
- Earthquake
All out attacker. I usually use this chick as a scarfed revenge killer, but considering that most of the times she comes in mid/late game, I thought it was better being able to switch move. And is extremely funny seeing fairies switching in feeling safe, and the die because of Iron Head. Of course Fire Blast is there for the likes of Ferrothorn, Forretress, and Skarmory. Without SR, none of them will be 1HKO (neither Ferrothorn if invested in HP and Spd), but after this they can be killed by a simple slap.
Mijolnir (Togekiss) (m) @ Life Orb
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 Spa / 4 Hp / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Nasty Plot
- Dazzling Glam
- Fire Blast
- Air Slash
Now, for how much I love this guy, he's actually the one who I think needs more improvements, if not being replaced at all. The problem is, is usually manages to set up, tanking an hit, but then he will just die or LO recoil. So I might give up the Lo for Leftovers, who knows. And unfortunately he makes some weaknesses redundant, specifically ice, electric, steel and poison.
Not a dead weight, considering is a perfect switch for my Heatran, being immune or rexisting many of his weaknesses, and completely walls Zygarde and Garchomp (lacking, again, Iron head), and if he manages to set up, unless they have strong priority or something to inder him, they're fucked.
I gave up Aura Sphear for Dazzling Glam because I think that Fireblast offers coverage against most of the same thing (barring AV Tyranitar, and especially Heatran).
Now, any suggestions? I was meditading of replacing Togekiss with some spinner or magic bouncer, but who knows, he actually is a safe belt against opposing Mega V (I know I have Heatran, but Air Slash is the only true weakness this Mega has against my team).
