Welcome to another RMT by Spook, it's been a while since the last one. I normally make these if I want feedback over some weird tech (my Silvally Volturn Squad) or when I wanted to show of a mon with little representation (Virizion), but this time it's more of me learning what sticks in a tier. Out of boredom, I decided to start reaching out to new things to do in my pastime, such as learning another tier (ZU) to somehow understand the meta well enough.

While I wasn't busy lurking / laddering, I picked up my dad's playlist, which to my suprise was filled with bangers from the likes of Snoop and Jamiroquai, some of which became my favourites. This was rather similiar with my experience with this tier, as the options available weren't as barren as I once that it was (can't wait for more drops from PU). Anywho, it's about time I showcase the members that make this team the way it is.

:stoutland: :ivysaur: I started of with these two as my wallbreakers, pressuring mons from both sides of the spectrum and Stoutland potentially sweeping with last resort + howl + protect.

:stoutland: :ivysaur: :vespiquen: :slowpoke: Vespi, my defoger and Slowpoke make up for the defensive backbone for this team while allowing my breakers to come in freely with slow pivot moves.

:stoutland: :ivysaur: :vespiquen: :slowpoke: :lampent: Lampent plays the role of my revenge killer of choice, with assests such as an unresisted movepool and trick to cripple walls.

:stoutland: :ivysaur: :vespiquen: :slowpoke: :lampent: :krokorok: Krokorok works wonders as a glue to my team, filling in the roles of intimidate utility, an elec immunity, knock off, taunt and rocks which the build appreciates / needs.

:stoutland: (:choice band:) :bellossom: :vespiquen: :slowpoke: :lampent: :krokorok: I found that my team appreciated the immediate power CB brings compared to last resort, as while deadly requires two turns to set up. With that change, I lacked a real win con so Ivy was dropped for Bellossom, who cleans up easily late game.

THREATS

1) :ivysaur: Ivysaur is just such a pain to deal with both offensively and defensively. It can come in on Slowpoke easily without being too bothered being burnt, forcing me to make uncomfortable 50/50s. If I expect giga drain and switch into Vespi, I could just lose my boots or be crippled by sludgebomb's hax, or Lampent who while resists its dual stabs hates knock off.

It even checks Bellossom, my main win con, so it fulfilling a sweep is improbable with a healthy Ivy. The best counterplay is to apply constant pressure on it and somehow knock off its eviolite to make it easier for Stoutland to grab a kill.

2) :Bellossom: It's really not as annoying as it is on paper, but it can prove itself to be deadly if left uncheck. It can run options like sleep powder/subsitute/safeguard, but not all at once so scouting early is needed. Best counterplay is to not let it switch in for free, and setting up alongside it in a mirror match works if it's not running sludge bomb.

CONSIDERED CHANGES

:vespiquen: (aromatherapy) I often find some difficulty in facing certain mons being dircectly caused by the status they inflict, but Vespi really dosen't have any space to fit any more moves. Is it worth it to slot aromatherapy over something else? If this change is made Bell can replace flame orb with leftovers, improving its longevity.

:krokorok: (bulkier spread) It can only blanket check offensive threats once or twice in a match, so I often find myself sacking it for extra chip once it has done its role. A bulkier set may increase its longevity but I'm uncertain if it's worth the trade off for having a slower taunt or less breaking power.

:togetic: --> :vespiquen: This change does fix the previous concerns, as it can fit both wish to increase Krokorok's longevity and heal bell. However, it makes the team's weakness to Ivy even worse, has to pick between boots and eviolite and finally is a momentum drain. More of an afterthought before all else.

CONCLUSION

I hope the whole concept of how this plays out in a match is expressed in this RMT, that basically being set up rocks, bring in breaker via slow u-turn/ broken teleport, leave holes to allow set up from the win con and have a scarfer to RK. Of course this is a rather straight forward aproach and changes to this routine are to be expected. (Such as leading with Stout or even ending games early with Bell agaisnt unprepared teams)

Overall I had a blast with this team and I learned a few important lessons in building, that being that consistency agaisnt the meta is far more favourable than using "heat" sets just to stand out. Just because a team consists of meta staples, it dosen't mean it can't be interesting. I hope it proves to be usuable to even newcomers, as this build represents my understanding of ZU. Give it a try, it's definetly funner than most expect it to be

Yep I totally stole this format from your Horse rmt Lilburr, at least I'm an honest thief. Umm this would be the part where I would mention my online friends, but I don't have any nor do I really have the time to do so in Discord (even my irl friends aren't active as usual there). I will acknowledge that the users and the chatrooms are pretty chill in both tiers, and do seem like pretty cool people.

Shoot not again. This is what i get for doing this on mobile. Just lock it, i'll finish editing later.
