A pure Water typing, titanic physical bulk, and Tablets of Ruin make Dondozo a nearly impenetrable physical wall that can blanket check common physical attackers including Great Tusk, Roaring Moon, and Chien-Pao. Other options like Unaware can be used to ignore setup sweepers and wallbreakers that attempts to boost past Dondozo, while Magic Guard prevents it from being overwhelmed by entry hazards, Toxic, and Wave Crash recoil. Aside from turning it into a bulky setup sweeper, Curse also lets Dondozo contest with opposing setup from the likes of Dragonite, Baxcalibur, and Kingambit, especially on non-Unaware variants. Earthquake is a necessary coverage move to hit Toxapex and Desolate Land users like Iron Moth, Cinderace, and Ceruledge. Rest + Leftovers provide much needed longevity, with Rest preventing Dondozo from being permanently crippled by Clodsire's Toxic, Iron Moth's Toxic Spikes, and Volcarona and Skeledirge's Will-O-Wisp. Special walls such as Clodsire, Ting-Lu, Garganacl, and Corviknight are necessary to deal with special attackers like Gengar, Sandy Shocks, Chi-Yu, and Noivern, respectively; the former three spread further passive damage onto foes between entry hazards, Toxic, Ruination, and Salt Cure, slowly whittling down foes for Dondozo to sweep easier, while the latter can check Meowscarada and provides Defog to relieve non-Magic Guard Dondozo from entry hazard damage that would otherwise force it to use Rest more frequently. In return, Dondozo covers the likes of Great Tusk, Quaquaval, and Cinderace for them.
