Thanks to Huge Power and an impressive movepool, Mega Mawile is one of the strongest wallbreakers in the metagame. Its typing, paired with Intimidate, allows it to switch comfortably into Pokemon like Tornadus-T, Clefable, Kartana, and Weavile and subsequently exert tremendous offensive pressure. However, Mega Mawile suffers with four-moveslot syndrome and is slow, leaving it to be revenge killed by faster foes like Landorus-T, Great Tusk, and Heatran. Thunder Punch hits bulky Water-types like Toxapex, Slowbro, and Dondozo while Ice Punch deals massive damage to Landorus-T and Gliscor. Sucker Punch accomodates for Mega Mawile's poor Speed, allowing it to pressure Pokemon like Dragapult and Gholdengo. Fire Fang hits Mega Scizor while Brick Break threatens Heatran, with both moves pressuring Ferrothorn. The given EV spread allows Mega Mawile to outspeed Mega Scizor. Even with Intimidate, Mega Mawile is relatively frail. Pivots like Tapu Koko, Rotom-W, (ac) and Tornadus-T can bring it in safely against Pokemon with which they struggle like Clodsire, Ferrothorn, and Ting-Lu. Fast cleaners and revenge killers like Weavile, Choice Scarf Kartana, and Dragapult appreciate Mega Mawile's ability to break walls such as Ferrothorn, Toxapex, and Clefable. In return, they are able to pressure more offensive builds. Mega Mawile appreciates entry hazard support to weaken foes like Mega Scizor, Heatran, and Dondozo, making setters like Ferrothorn, Ting-Lu, and Garchomp good partners.

Swords Dance Mega Mawile is a deadly wallbreaker and sweeper, as it becomes nearly unstoppable after a boost in conjunction with Huge Power. Its good defensive typing in tandem with Intimidate ensures that Mega Mawile can safely get off a Swords Dance boost against foes like Tornadus-T and Weavile. Knock Off, paired with Play Rough, allows Mega Mawile to hit most Pokemon in the tier for neutral damage while also supporting its team by removing items. However, Thunder Punch is a decent alternative, as it OHKOes Toxapex after a Swords Dance while also heavily chipping foes such as Dondozo and Skarmory. Sucker Punch makes up for Mega Mawile's awful Speed and lets it pressure Pokemon like Dragapult, Gholdengo, and Tornadus-T. The given EV spread allows Mega Mawile to outspeed Skarmory. Entry hazard support from Pokemon like Ferrothorn and Ting-Lu lets Mega Mawile KO faster threats with Sucker Punch after a Swords Dance and chip damage, such as Mega Lopunny, Landorus-T, Mega Swampert, and Garchomp. It also appreciates pivot support from Slowbro, Landorus-T, and Rotom-W to enter the field safely. Since Mega Mawile is relatively frail, partners such as Landorus-T and Garchomp provide strong defensive checks to common threats in Great Tusk, Garchomp, and Heatran.
