NFE [DONE] Offensive Tinkatuff

:sv/tinkatuff:
[SET]
Offensive Utility (Tinkatuff) @ Eviolite / Air Balloon
Ability: Pickpocket
EVs: 144 HP / 252 SpA / 112 Spe
Mild Nature
- Knock Off
- Ice Hammer
- Steel Beam
- Encore / Thunder Wave / Stealth Rock

[SET COMMENTS]
While Tinkatuff is renowned for its defensive prowess, it can use its surprisingly deep coverage, acceptable offensive stats, and good Speed to be a potent offensive threat while still maintaining utility through its defensive typing and disruptive movepool. Ice Hammer provides important coverage for incoming Dragon-types like Gabite and Fraxure that otherwise wouldn't mind too much switching into Knock Off. After removing their Eviolites with Knock Off, Tinkatuff can use Steel Beam to OHKO Piloswine and have a 25% chance of OHKOing Naclstack after Stealth Rock. Encore discourages utility and setup moves like Stealth Rock and Swords Dance from foes like Piloswine and Gabite, while Thunder Wave cripples checks like Thwackey, Servine, and Monferno. If teams need an offensive Stealth Rock setter, Tinkatuff can be used to fill the role and threaten or cripple common Stealth Rock removers and setters like Quaxwell and Piloswine. A Mild nature is necessary for Tinkatuff to maintain its special bulk, while the Speed EVs enable it to outspeed Fraxure. Air Balloon sacrifices the bulk provided by Eviolite in exchange for a one-time Ground immunity.

This Tinkatuff set fits much more on offensive builds, sacrificing much of its bulk to lure and beat wallbreakers like Piloswine and Dragon-types like Fraxure and Gabite. Fire-types like Monferno and Raboot benefit greatly from Tinkatuff heavily crippling or eliminating their checks; in return, they can help pivot it in without risking switching to the wrong attack. Tinkatuff's defensive profile still allows it to switch into threats like Girafarig and Ivysaur. While Air Balloon Tinkatuff maintains a one-time immunity to Ground-type attacks, it is still threatened by opposing Fire-types like Pignite and the aforementioned Monferno and Raboot; Quaxwell also makes for an excellent core alongside Tinkatuff, stomaching attacks and removing entry hazards with Rapid Spin, potentially freeing up Thunder Wave and allowing Tinkatuff to use Encore, and pivoting with Flip Turn. Mareanie and Koffing can use Toxic Spikes to punish opponents for not having reliable hazard control or a Poison-type and discourage Piloswine and Pignite from switching in. If Tinkatuff is not running Stealth Rock, offensive hazard setters like Frogadier and Piloswine can help rack up additional residual hazard damage with their respective hazards. Alolan Grimer, Naclstack, and other teammates that can check Steel-types and walls like Hisuian Sliggoo and Dunsparce, respectively, are also greatly appreciated.

While Tinkatuff is renowned for its defensive prowess, with its surprisingly deep coverage, acceptable offensive stats, and good Speed, Tinkatuff can compress being a potent breaker i dont think breaker is the right word since its offensive potential without sd is still pretty mid, maybe something along the lines of 'potent offensive threat' fits better? its just smth that catches people offguard while still maintaining utility through its defensive typing and disruptive movepool. Ice Hammer provides important coverage for incoming Dragon-types like Gabite and Fraxure that otherwise wouldn't mind too much switching into Knock Off frax doesnt like switching into tinka bc it can get twaved or band-knocked + (if balloon is intact) it cant even tantrum it, knock+hammer is ok-ish into grasses though especially sd thwackey. After removing Eviolites with Knock Off, Steel Beam can OHKO Piloswine and has a 25% chance of OHKOing Naclstack after Stealth Rock. Encore discourages utility and setup moves like Stealth Rock and Swords Dance from foes like Piloswine and Gabite, while Thunder Wave continues to cripple checks like Thwackey, Servine, and Monferno. Fire-types like Monferno and Raboot benefit greatly from Tinkatuff heavily crippling or eliminating their checks; in return, they can help pivot it in without risking switching to the wrong attack. Likewise, threats like Servine and Hisuian Sliggoo benefit immensely from their checks being crippled. Tinkatuff's defensive profile also allows it to still switch into threats like Girafarig and Ivysaur. While Tinkatuff maintains a one-time immunity to Ground-types, it is still threatened by opposing Fire-types like Pignite and the aforementioned Monferno and Raboot; Quaxwell once again makes for an excellent core, stomaching attacks and removing hazards with Rapid Spin, potentially freeing up Thunder Wave for Tinkatuff for its own Encore, and pivoting with Flip Turn. Mareanie and Koffing can punish opponents for not having reliable hazard control or a Poison-type with Toxic Spikes and discourage Piloswine and Pignite from switching in freely. id mention rockers/spikers too since ure giving up rocks + evioless tinka comps playing quite aggressive

A Mild Nature is necessary to maintain its special bulk, while the Speed EVs enable it to outspeed Fraxure. you need to mention the air balloon choice but i think eviolite should def at least be slashed here with it

While Tinkatuff is renowned for its defensive prowess, with Tinkatuff can use its surprisingly deep coverage, acceptable offensive stats, and good Speed (RC) Tinkatuff can compress being to be a potent offensive threat while still maintaining utility through its defensive typing and disruptive movepool. Ice Hammer provides important coverage for incoming Dragon-types like Gabite and Fraxure that otherwise wouldn't mind too much switching into Knock Off. After removing their Eviolites with Knock Off, Tinkatuff can use (1*) Steel Beam can to OHKO Piloswine and has a 25% chance of OHKOing 2HKO Naclstack after Stealth Rock. Encore discourages utility and setup moves like Stealth Rock and Swords Dance from foes like Piloswine and Gabite, while Thunder Wave continues to cripple cripples checks like Thwackey, Servine, and Monferno. If teams need an offensive Stealth Rock setter, Tinkatuff can be used to still fill the role and threaten or cripple common Stealth Rock removers and setters like Quaxwell and Piloswine. A Mild nature (lowercase n) is necessary for Tinkatuff (2*) to maintain its special bulk, while the Speed EVs enable it to outspeed Fraxure.

Mareanie and Koffing can use Toxic Spikes to punish opponents for not having reliable hazard control or a Poison-type with Toxic Spikes (3*) and discourage Piloswine and Pignite from switching in freely(4*). If Tinkatuff is not running Stealth Rock, offensive hazard setters like Frogadier and Piloswine can help rack up additional residual hazard damage with their respective hazards. Teammates Alolan Grimer, Naclstack, and other teammates that can check Steel-types like Hisuian Sliggoo and bulky walls like Dunsparce like Alolan Grimer and Naclstack Hisuian Sliggoo and Dunsparce, respectively, (AC) are also greatly appreciated.

  1. as this sentence was previously written, you were saying that Steel Beam can OHKO Pilo after it (Steel Beam) knocks off Eviolite.
  2. same story here: "its special bulk" seems to apply to the mild nature rather than Tinkatuff. for an equivalent example, think "Creatine is needed to maintain his muscle growth" sounds like a guy named Creatine has been asked to grow his muscles. another option in your writing and this example is to drop the pronoun, i.e. "A Mild nature is necessary to maintain special bulk" or "Creatine is needed to maintain muscle growth."
  3. same story again: you were telling us that Koffing and Mareanie can punish opponents for not having /a Poison-type with Toxic Spikes/ as opposed to punishing them with Toxic Spikes for not having a Poison-type
  4. you can use either "discourage from switching in" or "prevent from switching in freely" - whichever makes more sense
my one consistent note is to make sure that your clauses follow logically. for example:
Teammates that can check Steel-types like Hisuian Sliggoo and bulky walls like Dunsparce like Alolan Grimer and Naclstack are also greatly appreciated.
in this sentences you have several distinct subjects:
  • teammates
  • steel-types
  • bulky walls
we are modifying these subjects with several adjectives/adjective phrases:
  • /that can check/
  • /like Hisuian Sliggoo/
  • /like Dunsparce/
  • /like Alolan Grimer and Naclstack/
it's important that the subjects and their modifiers line up in a logical way. you have many options for achieving the same outcome. i suggested one that i think feels a bit more natural, but if you prefer, you can rewrite it without adding or subtracting any words by rearranging the subjects and clauses as such:
Teammates like Alolan Grimer and Naclstack that can check Steel-types like Hisuian Sliggoo and bulky walls like Dunsparce are also greatly appreciated.
anyway, again, this was very well-written and i had very few changes that weren't related to this. great work!!
