Intro:
So you've looked around, right? You've peered at the threads, saw all of the pretty 'mons, and thought "Man! I really want to get in on that". But wait! Before you start, there's some things you should know. Smogon is much different then many other Pokémon forums, and there's some things you must know to enjoy your time and become a productive member of the Smogon WiFi Community.

Before you do anything.
Learn the what goes where. Learn what goes where so you're not making a RMT thread in WiFi and not asking RNG questions in the Simple Questions thread. Read the WiFi rules so that you know what to do to not get an infraction.

You have a general idea of the Smogon WiFi boards. Now what?
So you think you're ready for your own thread, eh? Do you have Pokemon with good IVs? No one will be interested in "rare events" or "rare shinies" or "rare female dreamworld Pokémon" unless they have good IVs. If all you have is Pokémon with junk IVs, your thread will get closed down immediately, and you won't get any business. Something that will get you some good business is if you learn how to RNG. Many people are only interested in Pokémon from the original RNGer. Plus, RNGing if very fun and a great way to pass time. There are a ton of people that are willing to help you learn, so you might as well. If you don't RNG your own Pokémon and all you have it redistributables, people might turn you down a lot since they're not interested in redistributables

You've either RNGed some Pokémon, or you have a lot of redistributables
So you're ready for a thread? Youou have Pokemon with good IVs to offer? The first thing you need to do if think of a good format to display your Pokémon. A good format will make the Pokemon you're offering look much more attractive. You also want to have a way to organize your Pokémon so that they're not in some random order. I suggest you organize them by National Pokédex order, but its up to you. Something very important to remember is that you don't trade other people's Pokemon that they don't want traded. If you ask to trade for something that you might want to put in your threads, make sure you ask what the redistribution rights are. "Non Redis" means that you can't trade it. "Semi Redis" means that you can trade it, but the person you trade it to can't trade it. "Full Redis" mean that everyone can trade it.

Important things to remember when having a Trade Thread:
• Make sure not to trade hacks
• Don't redistribute Pokémon that you're not allowed to
• Make sure to include who cloned your Pokémon, and by which means they cloned your Pokémon in the description of each of them.
• List IVs, EVs, OT, Nature, Ability, Moves, and Redis rights of every Pokémon.
• Inspect every Pokémon for obvious signs of being hacked (A level 100 Charizard caught at the Elite 4 for instance) before offering it
• Don't use too many gifs or animated pictures or else it will cause the thread to load slowly and can occasionally cause the browser to crash.
• Don't bump your thread. It is annoying and can be subject to infraction. Instead, if you get new Pokémon, you can have an "Update post" which does the same thing as a bump but is much less annoying and lets people know you have new stuff.
• Even though luvdiscs (or "likes") are cool, don't beg for them. You could get infrated for it.

Pokécheck
- Pokécheck lets you upload Pokémon to a server via the GTS to check its IVs, EVs, SID, and pretty much everything about it. You can also view if it's legit. If you need a parent for a new breed, you can receive a parent Pokémon via GTS for free.
Egg Move Generator
- This app only works for 4th Generation, but it's still very helpful. It lets you see what egg move combos are legal, and what parent is needed.
IV Checker
- Check the IVs of your newly acquired Pokémon. This requires your Pokémon to be semi-high leveled.
Hidden Power Checker
- Once you get your Pokémon IVs, check its hidden power with this useful app.
