ORAS OU Doom Desire + Future Sight Jirachi Offense (peaked high 1600s)

Inspired by the set brought by WhiteQueen in WCOP in his battle against Cosine180, (here is the battle for reference) I thought about how his Jirachi set could be applied to a more offensive team to create more offensive pressure. The result was the following team:

Building process:

jirachi.gif

Jirachi @ Leftovers
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Sassy Nature
- Doom Desire
- Future Sight
- U-turn
- Iron Head

This was the first mon on the team as it was what I wanted to build around. WhiteQueen didn't really reveal his 4th move but I assumed it was Iron Head and went with that. The EVs are not detailed at all, and that is something I definitely want help with. The point of this mon is to sponge hits, set up Doom Desire/Future Sight (depending on what the situation demands), and give a slow U-Turn out into one of the threats in the back. Anything slower can still be flinched down with Iron Head (i.e a Clefable that gets out of hand etc.)

Keldeo-Resolute @ Choice Specs
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 30 Def / 30 SpD
- Scald
- Icy Wind
- Hidden Power [Bug]
- Secret Sword

The next mon I decided to add on was Choice Specs Keldeo, which works wonders in conjunction with the above Jirachi set. Think of Keldeo's switch-ins in OU: Slowbro, Amoonguss, Venusaur, Clefable, Lati@s, Rotom (to an extent), opposing Keldeo (to an extent), fat Starmie, Volcanion (to an extent). Most of these are pounded by a combination of one of Keldeo's moves + Doom Desire/Future Sight.

Consider the following scenario:
Jirachi switches in on a Latios's Draco Meteor/Psyshock/Surf.
The following turn, Jirachi uses Doom Desire while the Latios is switched out to a Heatran/fat Lando-T.
Jirachi U-Turns into Keldeo the next turn, which threatens the common Jirachi checks.
Opponent switches out to Latios to take the Scald/Secret Sword/Icy Wind. If the player uses Icy Wind, the opponent would ordinarily have the chance to switch out the Latios into an Ice resist of their choice. However, since Jirachi had used Doom Desire...
252 SpA Choice Specs Keldeo Icy Wind vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Latios: 166-196 (55.5 - 65.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
0 SpA Jirachi Doom Desire vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Latios: 139-165 (46.4 - 55.1%) -- 65.6% chance to 2HKO
A guaranteed OHKO in conjunction.

or even

252 SpA Choice Specs Keldeo Secret Sword vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Latios: 123-146 (41.1 - 48.8%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
0 SpA Jirachi Doom Desire vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Latios: 139-165 (46.4 - 55.1%) -- 65.6% chance to 2HKO
A good chance to KO in conjunction, especially with rocks up.

This works similarly with Keldeo's other counters with either Future Sight or Doom Desire and an appropriate move from Keldeo to KO. Remember, this was just one example! This usually clears the field of the opponent's Keldeo switch in and Keldeo can now more freely spam its high-powered STABs to plow through the opponent's team.

Raikou @ Assault Vest
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 30 Def
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Volt Switch
- Extrasensory/Shadow Ball

Next, Raikou was added as an additional check to Slowbro as well as a way to better deal with Talonflame. Originally, this was a Serperior, but the team was more Talonflame weak that I'd like. Also acts as a check to Thundurus-I. Set is straightforward, AV for switching in on special attacks like Slowbro's Scald and Thundy's Thunderbolt and Extrasensory as a backup check to Amoong/Venu. I'm considering changing Extrasensory to Shadow Ball as the team struggles against Mega-Metagross but I haven't made a 100% decision on that yet.

Landorus-Therian @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Impish Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- U-turn

Well it's not an OU team unless you're running the undisputed King of OU. Landorus acts as a way to get up Stealth Rocks, a nice defensive pivot to safely bring in one of the threats in the back with U-Turn and a very important check to Sand Rush Excadrill. Once again, the set is pretty straightforward. I opted for Stone Edge over Knock Off to better deal with Talonflame.

diancie-mega.gif

Diancie-Mega @ Diancite
Ability: Magic Bounce
EVs: 8 Atk / 248 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Protect
- Moonblast
- Diamond Storm
- Hidden Power [Fire]

Another one of the high-power threats on this team. Diancie can hit hard with its STABs and HP fire coverage is excellent. Works in conjunction with Jirachi in that Doom Desire/Future Sight damage turns HP Fire into a 2HKO on SpDef Skarmory. Unfortunately has no chance to speed tie with Mega Metagross because of the Speed drop from HP Fire. However, HP fire is much better coverage than Earth Power which is really only needed for Heatran which is easily taken care of by Keldeo. HP Fire also considerably weakens Ferrothorn, allowing Keldeo to simply spam Scald rather than having to predict with Secret Sword.

149.gif

Dragonite @ Choice Band
Ability: Multiscale
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Outrage
- Fire Punch
- Earthquake
- Extreme Speed

Finally, the team needed a way of dealing with faster threats and setup sweepers; some strong priority. Dragonite came to mind quickly as its Extreme Speed is powerful enough to heavily damage fast, frail threats like Mega Lopunny even at full health. It works well in conjunction with Diancie, which keeps rocks off your side of the field, allowing Dragonite to keep its Multiscale intact. Works well with Jirachi in that any Fairy types trying to switch into Outrage can be blown away by a well placed Doom Desire. Also completes the wonderful Dragon/Steel/Fairy defensive core.

Mega Metagross: Outspeeds the entire team bar Raikou (which can't do much to it), doesn't take much from Doom Desire/Future Sight.

Tornadus-T. Outspeeds the entire team, does damage, switches out and heals with Regen so it isn't easily worn down without Stealth Rocks up. Diancie can be a decent check, but will get worn down quite fast.

Those are the main ones I've noticed. Please let me know if you see more!

Anyway, that's the team! Please let me know if you have suggestions (especially for Jirachi's EV spread!!!)

Thanks for reading :)

Hey LNH, Doom Desire + Future Sight isn't something you see everyday so that's a cool idea.

You explained why M-Meta and Torn-T were problems so I don't think that I need to explain that. Your team also lacks a bit of speed control, pokemons like M-Zam, M-Lop, M-Mane look like big problems since you can't do anything to revenge kill them. Another problem to your team is Keldeo, both the Scarf and the Specs sets pressure your team since your main water resists are Dragonite (which doesn't appreciate burns and you don't have hazard removal) and your own Keldeo. Some things that you have to watch out for are Weavile and Bulky M-Zor, you rely on Keldeo to beat both of them. Don't always rely on Jirachi to weaken mons like M-Venusaur or other bulky grass types since it isn't a good way to beat them, you should see it as a "bonus" more than your main way to deal with them.

Rotom-Wash >
243.png
Raikou
: This gives you a reliable switchin to Tornadus-T and it still pressures slowbro and it keeps them from setting up, this also gives you a nice utility move being Will-o-Wisp, this helps vs the Bulky M-Zor and M-Metagross matchup since they don't appreciate burns, same with others problems to your team such as M-Lop, Bisharp and Weavile. The combination of Rotom + Lando should give you an easier time vs M-Metagross since both can pivot around it. I would recommend using 44 Speed investment as a check to Jolly BD Azumarill.

719-mega.png
Max Attack Diancie > Max SpAtk Diancie
: This is the best set for M-Diancie right now as it's really hard to switch into, Max SpAtk doesn't get any important 2HKOs or OHKOs for your team which is something that Max Attack does. This set supports Keldeo too since with Diancie's Diamond Storm it can 2HKO Offensive M-Venu and Amoonguss with stealth rocks up and that way Keldeo has a much easier time punching holes into teams. This also doesn't make it so you always have to rely on Jirachi to lure them.
  • 252 Atk Mega Diancie Diamond Storm vs. 232 HP / 0 Def Mega Venusaur: 160-189 (44.5 - 52.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock
  • 252 Atk Mega Diancie Diamond Storm vs. 252 HP / 136 Def Amoonguss: 214-253 (49.5 - 58.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Black Sludge recovery
381.png
Scarf Latios >
149.png
Dragonite
: First of all, you have no hazard removal with Dragonite which is a mistake since it drops the viability of the mon. And like I said before, Keldeo is a pain to deal with. Latios gives you a reliable check to Keldeo and electric types like Raikou, M-Mane and Thundurus-I (which was lacking with Rotom > Raikou), with this change you still have the presence of an Offensive Dragon Type and it gives some speed control which your team was lacking. With this pokemon you have something that can revenge kill Thundurus, M-Lopunny, +1 M-Zard X, +1 M-Gyara and M-Zam after some damage. And it can cripple some bulky setup sweepers like Clefable, Slowbro and Suicune with Trick if they get out of control.

647.png
Hydro Pump > Hidden Power Bug: This isn't a big change such as a complete different set or ev spread, it's just that specs keldeo benefits more from Hydro Pump as it gives a way to deal a lot more damage vs some teams and HP Bug isn't necessary. There are scenarios where you would rather use Hydro over Scald for more damage overall, HP Bug hits the Lati's and you already have Icy Wind for that, Slowbro and Starmie don't appreciate a Specs Hydro Pump or even a Scald + a potential burn anyways.

Rotom-Wash @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate

Hi Rampecker! Thanks a lot for your input. I like the Rotom change and the Diancie change for sure. Latios will require some testing, though. I think I'll keep HP bug on Keld most likely since it's been very helpful especially with the surprise factor that it brings. Will update the RMT and credit you after some testing.
