Double Moxie AKA F*** genesect/Keldeo

INTRO

Preparing for the tournament, I realized that genesect and keldeo are going to be serious problems that every team is going to have to over come. I also had tons of success with Moxie Gyrados, and figured that having two solid moxie choice scarf sweepers might be alright. Feel free to correct me. Here we go

THE SUPPORT

TaTKc.jpg

Deoxys-D
252 hp 4 def 252 spe
Modest @ FIRE GEM
-Taunt
-Stealth Rock
-Spikes
-HP: Fire

Since I have 2 choice scarfers, I need hazards more than screens. EV's are there to give Genefuck a SpA boost so his U-turn doesn't own me. If I can predict the switch I can usually take him out with a surprise HP: Fire (thanks to fire gem). Also works wonders for the ever-present Suckzor, forretress, and other bugs, steels, and bugsteels.

jirachi02.gif

Jirachi
252 hp 248 def 8 Spd
Impish @ Leftovers
-Ice Punch
-U-turn
-Wish
-Healing Wish

Eh. Wish support. Healing wish is last ditch. Can bring one of my sweepers back from near dead. Also really important for Jellicent (water spout). Ice punch can hit hard against dragons or landorous. Needs some tweaks

infernape.jpg

Infernape
4 hp 252 atk 252 spe
Naughty @ Life Orb
-Close Combat
-Mach Punch
-Overheat
-U-turn

Mixed Attacking wall breaker. Overheat is strong enough to kill gliscor switching in to wall physically based attacks. Also acts as another shot at Genesuck. does alright, but he usually u-turns out. does adequately for such a bamf fire monkey. Close Combat and Mach Punch are standard. U-turn's for psychics. Starmie usually ends up faster, though. Can eat a fire attack or 2 for Jirachi

jellicent.jpg

Jellicent
172 hp 252 spa 84 spe
Modest @ Choice Specs
-Water Spout
-Shadow Ball
-Energy Ball
-Ice beam

Great typing, hits hard, walls the crap out of Keldouche-o and even genesect's thunderbolt has to 2hko. Not perfect but usually gets some kills or weakens a lot of mons for the real hungry maw fuggas that I have yet to describe. Good synergy with Jirachi.

THE SWEEPERS

Gyarados.png

Gyrados
252 atk 252 spe 4 hp
Adamant @ Choice Scarf
-waterfall
-dragon tail
-bounce
-earthquake

I have found that this set isn't really dependent on rain support. The good news is that there is no shortage of rain teams in OU anyways. Waterfall is the only attack I use 80% of my games. After a boost or 2 it eats up even mons that resist it. Plus add da flinch chance and we're good to go. Dragon Tail is the only sort of phazing I have. Some (/sigh) Baton Pass teams can be trouble. Unfortunately Geneshit's thunderbolt effs it up.

553.png

Krookodile
252 atk 252 spe 4 spa
Adament @ Choice Scarf
-outrage
-earthquake
-crunch
-superpower

Not as important as Gyrados, but powerful nonetheless. The ground typing really helps out. Need to test more, but even though he is UU Krookodile is helping out far more than salamence. Late game cleaner.

CONCLUSION

So in conclusion. THUNDER BOLT. thunder bolts everywhere. Starmies, Genesects, Jolteons, Thunderos, it seems everyone has one and they F*ck up my team. I don't know how to squeeze some resists out of this team. I am liking its performance so far, but I know something is missing...

Thunder bolts are more manageable now but Ferrothorn is becoming a huge problem. Especially in the rain

Hi,

directly, I'd say change Gyarados. You got stuff weak to SR everywhere, against opposing Deoxys-D with Magic Coat/Magic Bounce/Faster Taunters, you'll get doomed by SR fast, very fast.

This team would need serious changes to be really competitive in my opinion. I got no "quick improvement" for now, sorry.

It looks like a HO with Deoxys-D. Fine, then why would you get a Wish Support ? You really have time for that?

Right now, I'd say, change Gyarados for Terrakion, it works well with Jellicent. If you scarf him, Starmie is threatened by X-Scissor (it's not a 0HKO, care !). I prefer the SubSalac set.

Then, change this Jirachi, right now I'd say that Celebi could do everything in this team but better. You take Starmie hits, you get an Electric resistance. For the set it's up to you, I like the Leaf Storm/U-Turn/T-Wave/Recover. But well, it's up to you, Celebi is quite versatile but works well with Terrakion.
Celebi/Terrakion/Jellicent is one hell of a core anyway, really solid.

Here is all I got, but I feel like it needs a serious work/training/testing from you before I could give something more precise, sorry :\

I hope it helped though !

If you say you have an electric weakness, I would do two things. First change Outrage on Salamence to Earthquake. Then if you are having that much trouble change Gyarados to a Life Orb Moxie Krookodile. Hope this can help you issue!

Initial impression: You've got a jirachi without iron head. Why not just cut out wish for iron head? Healing wish is a cool move to have, and the rest aren't bad, but wish-passing is semi-pointless on such an HO team. It'd make more sense to use free turns for u-turn momentum, an ice punch to the face, or a barrage of iron heads.

You say you're weak to electric-type moves. Why not just replace Specs jellicent with Specs gastrodon? True, you can't really spinblock, but it's a huge amount of the same functionality with a way to take electric-type moves. It also can take anything scarf genesect will dish out on the special side, although giga drain could be problematic.

After that, you can replace infernape with a Choice specs gengar. It's still a pretty nice wall-breaker, especially with trick.

Salamence needs earthquake more than you can possibly imagine, and gyarados needs... anything over dragon tail. I'd put in ice fang, just for the occasional dragon/flying, while also giving you a way to beat grass-types that doesn't involve a turn in the air.

Finally, talk less ghetto. I get what you were going for, i do, but you'll just end up looking bad.

1) At a glance, Scarf+Sweeper doesn't work.

2) A few things, Gyarados is much more reliable than Salamance, Ice Shard just destroys it.
I would prefer a set of Gyarados with 252 Att and 252 Spe and 4 HP, adamant nature with the following moves - Dragon Dance, Waterfall, Ice Fang and Earthquake with a Life Orb.

3) Remove Outrage or Dragon Claw from Salamance with Earthquake.

4)Jirachi should run Iron Head instead of Ice Punch.

Moxie is a great ability and and overlooked one. Nice to see some Moxie uses.

Hey!

This will be one of those general advice kind of rates. To me, it looks like you're having problems finding a direction for your team as well as synergy issues. By finding a direction for your team, I mean that you need to get a cohesive unit on the field. It looks like you're trying to do way too much. You have, at its core, an offensively oriented team. Deoxys-D is the offensive lead in the current metagame. You can't afford to have Pokemon like Specially Defensive Jirachi weighing you down. Additionally, Jellicent is just not the right Pokemon for the job. It's too slow to effectively utilize a Choice Specs set. It's not powerful enough to be the best Specs user either. The only thing going for it is that it's a Ghost type which means it can block Rapid Spin. However, a Pokemon like Gengar could do Jellicent's job far better.

After that, I usually don't worry so much about synergy on a Deoxys-D offense team. Usually you can run an all out offense team with bad synergy if the sweepers feed off each other. However, as you noticed, a Scarf Thunderbolt will just tear you apart. You cannot afford to be weak to the biggest threat in the metagame, Genesect. If you ever find yourself in a situation where one Scarf Pokemon absolutely shuts you down, I'd suggest going back to the drawing board.

Now, I'll give you some specific advice concerning your team. On Deoxys-D, I would 100% recommend you use Timid nature. It's so crucial to at least Speed tie with other lead Deoxys. I don't like Hidden Power Fire, but if you find that it gets you some surprise kills, go for it. I think Mental Herb and Thunder Wave is by far the superior set. There's a more complicated Red Card + Magic Coat Deoxys-D set out there, but it has a little bit of a learning curve. I wouldn't recommend it for your team right now.

After that, you should get together a strong offensive core. This can be 2-3 Pokemon that you plan to use once Deoxys-D lays its hazards. I really like Gengar in one of these slots since it's a solid wall breaker, and there are a ton Rapid Spinners due to Deoxys-D popularity. Your offensive core should have Pokemon that more or less sweep on their own. They should not be hard countered if at all possible. You'd pick something like Dragonite here. Even against Physical walls like Skarmory, you're going to do a lot of damage before you're forced out. I would not pick a Pokemon like Calm Mind Keldeo because you will be straight up stopped by Jellicent, Tornadus-t, or Lati@s with Psyshock/Calm Mind.

After you get a core, you can choose an end game sweeper if you're so inclined. For you this would be the slot Gyarados and Salamence occupy. I'd pick one of them if you can. You want to focus on one task during a match, not two. If, for example, you chose Gyarados, Salamence could still be part of your mid-game offensive core. You're just focusing on Gyarados as your final cleaner.

With the last slot, you want to patch up some weaknesses as best you can. Many people opt for a Pokemon like Scarf Genesect or Choice Band Scizor that can revenge an errant DD user. You can go with another bulky sweeper that counters a lot of set up Pokemon too. Essentially, you want to ask yourself: Am I obviously weak to anything or any strategy? If you are, you want your last Pokemon to fit the pace of your team and patch up that weakness as best you can.

Good luck!

The whole reason I picked jellicent is because it walls keldeo and does alright against genesect. Thanks for the long response
