Glimmora:
Glimmora @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Toxic Debris
Tera Type: Grass
EVs: 8 HP / 252 SpA / 248 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Earth Power
- Power Gem
- Sludge Bomb
- Energy Ball
I've used Scarf Glimmora on teams in the past, and I thought it would be a really fun mon to use here, giving the solid rock type offensive coverage into the meta here, along with it being a very good revenge killer into the fairy types that my team is generally weak to. It's EVed to just outspeed scarf Hamurott, since I don't think max speed is really necessary since I don't think I've seen another Scarf glimm ever when testing this team (this just means I wanted to feel like I did something original with this set). I went with energy ball and tera grass I wanted to be able to OHKO Hammurot, Tusk, and maybe Dozo and Tera Water spikes Gliscor after some chip, while getting the water and ground resistances so I could survive and 2HKO AV Primarina.
Landorus-T:
Landorus-Therian @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Intimidate
Tera Type: Flying
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Tera Blast
- U-turn
Doubling up on Scarf users here, Landorus is what the initial idea of this team was built around. I love the terablast fly set, really putting a ratchet into HO teams bc it OHKO's Araquanid, and generally being a menace with the potential to sweep or just deal really solid chip into the whole tier. It's also nice for getting the jump on Meowscarda and Weavile by outspeed and OHKOing with U-turn and Stone Edge respectively.
Kyurem:
Kyurem @ Choice Specs
Ability: Pressure
Tera Type: Ice
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Ice Beam
- Freeze-Dry
- Draco Meteor
- Earth Power
Not much to say here, this is just your normal Specs Kyurem set, it's good against all the things it's usually good against and is checked by the things it usually is as well. It pairs decently with Lando as well, with the Ice and Water types it usually invites in being almost shrugged off by Kyurem after Lando pivots out.
Iron Valiant:
Iron Valiant @ Booster Energy
Ability: Quark Drive
Tera Type: Electric
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Moonblast
- Encore
- Knock Off
- Thunderbolt
Booster Iron Valiant does what it's supposed to do, it can threaten Moonblast sweeps, get a lot of guaranteed progress with knock off and disrupt stall and set up sweepers with encore. I decided to tack Tera Electric Thunderbolt on instead of CC because I was worried about the matchup into Corviknight, as the rest of my team doesn't really have any way to break its bulk up set. It also really helps our matchup into Wellspring, which was covered decently but with a couple unlucky turns wouldn't turn out so well. The ground types Tera Electric bring in don't like taking a Moonblast anyway, with Tusk being OHKO'ed, and Gliscor sometimes being caught up in Encore shenanigans.
Great Tusk:
Great Tusk @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Protosynthesis
Tera Type: Steel
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Headlong Rush
- Ice Spinner
- Rapid Spin
- Stealth Rock
I tried running Mortal Spin alongside Tusk for a while (yes, still with the scarf set), but I decided just running boots and the defensive EV spread worked better instead. Great Tusk is the most used mon in OU for a reason, it provides some much needed removal considering it's the only boots mon on the team. Very standard set here, I don't think there's much more to be said on why it was added.
Kingambit:
Kingambit @ Black Glasses
Ability: Supreme Overlord
Tera Type: Ghost
EVs: 212 HP / 252 Atk / 44 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Sucker Punch
- Kowtow Cleave
- Iron Head
Kingambit is here both for its normal job as a late game cleaner, but also as the resident Gholdengo switch in on the team. Not much here likes taking a +2 Make It Rain, and the Ground Types it's really threatened by can be countered with Lando, Kyurem, and Tusk. I was debating running Leftovers on it instead of black glasses, so if you think that would be a better fit lmk.
Replays:
If you read this and immediately knew that this person was a mid to low ladder dumbass, you'd be right. I was playing on a newer alt to ladder this, so I only got up to 1440 (I say as my peak on my main is 1480), but I felt really solid and surprisingly consistent. Tysm for reading this whole RMT, any suggestions at all are greatly appreciated.
Some slightly different sets here, I was using the more offensive tusk set for a lot of them so that's why the calcs might look off.
Also, I'm not cherry-picking wins here, the only reason I decided to crawl out of my little hole is because I won like 7 in a row (yes, what a big number, I'm truly such a great player who was surprised after winning against 6 NU mons at 1200).
