Ok, after fiddling around with trying to make a Weather Team, I noticed how frustrating it is because of the 5 turns limit. And you know what's even more frustrating? That you have to time your switches perfectly so you can get another 5 turns (as in, if you bring in Zard-Y on the last sun turn, that's it, no more sun for you).
That's when I came up with something: a Weather Condition will always override another one, setting it to 5 turns again.
So I tried to build a team that revolves around two different Weathers, without making any Pokémon dependant on neither.
So, here we go:
Charizard @ Charizardite Y
Ability: Solar Power
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
- Fire Blast
- Solar Beam
- Dragon Pulse
- Focus Blast
Victini @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Victory Star
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature
- V-create
- Bolt Strike
- Zen Headbutt
- Trick
Victini is a great Revenge Killer when wearing Scarf, as V-Create will dent anything hard. Even on Sandstorm. And with sun boost, well, it's not even funny. Note that his sole role is not just revenge killing, as it is denting anything that comes in (even with resistance). Trick is a neat surprise making Victini double as a stall-disruptor.
Zard-Y needs no introduction.
Tyranitar @ Assault Vest
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 64 HP / 128 Atk / 64 Def / 252 SDef
Careful Nature
- Crunch
- Earthquake
- Pursuit
- Stone Edge
Excadrill @ Air Balloon
Ability: Sand Rush
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide
- Rapid Spin
Tyranitar is a great Pokémon on its own, making great use of Assault Vest + Sandstorm SDEF buff. Not sure about the EVs though. Anything else is self-explanatory.
Excadrill is also awesome, being arguably the best spinner in the game. It's just a nice touch that, now, he can outspeed the entire metagame except for priority.
So, here's where the fun starts: I need two other dudes to make up for the team weaknesses.
As you can see, and it's pretty obvious, anything water can just sweep everyone (although the sun helps a little). Think about Greninja, for instance (on 1x1 Zard-Y actually wins because it's not KOed by Hydro Pump and can KO back with Solar Beam, but that's it. There's no safe switch after that).
Also rock-whatever sucks. Excadrill can surely take those hits, but then his Balloon will pop and that's not fun.
So, I leave for you guys. What two other Pokémons would have good defensive synergy with those 4?
I tried Bronzong as it resists Rock, is immune to Ground and can set up SR, but I'm not so sure. Also tried Clefable, which doesn't suffer from Sandstorm and can take advantage of Sun with its Calm Mind set.
But it's just not working. So, here I am.
Enjoy!
