[Doubles] Help with Doubles team, been working on it for a while.

Hey guys I'm trying to find a team that works for me this gen and I would like to include Gengar and perhaps Dragonite if I can find room for them.

I have trouble vs people who start 1 water and 1 electric type, maybe I could do Charizard + Garchomp and evolve protect first turn while Garchomp kills something, not sure? Also I feel like I'm wasting my ability to change the weather to sun, I mostly just use it for the bonus damage on heat wave and for the salemance's flame thrower sometimes, although it is nice for solar beam too. I'm rated about 1600 on Showdown with this team now. My usual openers are Gyarados + Ttar or Gyarados + Charizard. But i've also been testing out Garchomp + Charizard and sometimes that works out very well and others its rough. I feel like I need a second pokemon that is immune or resistant to electric attacks but its really tough for me to figure out what to add outside of my core(Charizard, Ttar, Gyarados). Also DisQuake wrecks me, fortunately its not very common.

Garchomp @ Lum Berry
Ability: Rough Skin
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 Atk / 4 HP
Adamant Nature
- Dragon Claw
- Earthquake
- Brick Break
- Protect

I use Garchomp as kind of a cover your bases pokemon, my team also has several electric type weaknesses as well as a 4x weakness so being able to switch into a ground type is very helpful sometimes.

Gengar @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 SAtk / 4 HP
Modest Nature
- Shadow Ball
- Sludge Bomb
- Focus Blast
- Thunderbolt / Destiny Bond / Trick (not sure which yet)

My favorite pokemon but definitely not the top performer on this team, I've tried to run him many different ways and im currently having the most success with Choice Scarf and just using him to revenge kill fairies and ghosts.

Gyarados @ Wacan Berry
Ability: Intimidate
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Impish Nature
- Waterfall
- Taunt
- Thunder Wave
- Earthquake

Gyarados is almost always one of the 2 pokemon I open with and his utility is incredible, I'm not convinced that running defense is the best, im considering a special defense ev investment or even adamant with attack to make his waterfall his hard, I've recently been testing protect over earthquake and I might like that better.

Charizard (M) @ Charizardite Y
Ability: Blaze
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 SAtk / 4 HP
Timid Nature
- Heat Wave
- Dragon Pulse
- Solar Beam
- Protect

I was having a lot of trouble with waters and steel types and this guy helped with both, I can weaken water attacks using his mega evolution for sunny day and also murder steel types with heat wave, I often pair him with Gyarados and thunderwave while he protects then megaevolve solar beam water types next turn to make sure they cant outspeed me.

Tyranitar @ Choice Band
Ability: Sand Stream
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 HP / 4 SDef
Adamant Nature
- Brick Break
- Rock Slide
- Earthquake
- Crunch

Tyranitar gives me a good switch in vs fire types and he does huge damage with rock slide, I like him for countering weather as well but not sure if this is the best EV spread/move spread/Item choice for this generation.

Salamence @ Yache Berry (also considering Life Orb if I cut Aegislash)
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 SAtk / 252 Spd / 4 HP
Hasty Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Flamethrower (Helps sweep the Fairy/Steel types and gets bonus in Sun)
- Earthquake (I like EQ for after I've used Draco Meteor once or twice)
- Protect

I like this guy a lot and vs some teams the second intimidate can be really nice, I'm not super happy about the 4x ice weakness but he hits hard vs things I need him too.

Aegislash @ Life Orb
Ability: Stance Change
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 HP / 4 SDef
Adamant Nature
- Shadow Sneak
- Sacred Sword
- Iron Head
- King's Shield

Also testing this guy, maybe in place of salemance but im not sure if I like him, its not that hes always predictable but king's shield not stopping status really sucks.

So any advice would be great!

Thanks!

the team looks alright and i would make some suggestions to it, but this is the wrong subforum for team rating. we have an entire section just for that though, which is here. welcome to doubles!

Oh im sorry, thank you for moving it, I'll be more careful from now on =D

So my method of improvement for pretty much everything is to eliminate my weaknesses until all that is left are strengths, so I guess I'm thinking that I should just continuously replace the weakest member of the team with something stronger until something else is the weakest member and I eventually run out of things to change, I think I am at the point now where I can start changing small things, but I guess my main fear is that I have too many shared weaknesses to electric, I just kind of have to hope that I can outspeed any threat and kill it before it murders my team, which does work very often but if I need to go 9-1 at an event I want my team to be really solid.

I feel like I may be too new to the game to do that without help since Im basically starting fresh right now as a player.
