After my previous team i made some improvements based on what people said. Now I am posting this New And Improved Downpour Team!
The team at a glance...
------------------OR-------------------
Politoed@Choice Scarf
Nature- Timid
Ability- Drizzle
4 hp 252 spA 252 spe
-Surf
-Hidden Power Grass
-Psychic
-Ice beam
Ah yes Politoed. A few reasons i use this guy is to well obviously set up rain and to serve as my lead pokemon. Politoed is essentialy my lead Pokemon in near all battles with Ludicolo. it can help Ludicolo activate its absorb bulb. I have considered a Drizzless rain team due to the fact that politoed is a horrible Pokemon but I would have to change my lead which I like a lot and I wouldnt know what to switch to or how to pull it off/how well it would work.
Ludicolo@Absorb Bulb
Nature- Modest
Ability- Swift Swim
4 hp 252 spA 252 Spe
-Giga Drain
-Fake Out
-Hydro Pump
-Ice Beam
Ludicolo is the premier offensive pokemon on the team and my obligatory Swift Swimmer. Ludicolo easily takes care of threats that could do a lot of damage to the team. For example it one shots Rotom Wash after the absorb bulb is activated with Giga-Drain while nearly OHKOing anything that doesnt resist Hydro Pump. It gets great coverage with Ice Beam as well destroying many dragon and flying types. Fake Out, it has its merits but I could possibly change it for something else.
Thundurus(Incarnate)@Yache Berry
Nature- Timid
Ability- Prankster
4 hp 252 spA 252 Spe
-Thunder
-Hidden Power Flying
-Rain Dance
-Thunder Wave
Thundurus has a lot of options it can abuse such as Hidden Power Flying and Thunder. These two stab attacks allow it to eliminate Fighting types and opposing sun teams (Namely Chlorophyll Users) while setting up rain. This Pokemon serves as my counter to flying types which my team seems to struggle with for some unknown reason. Yache Berry has come into use to many times to count. For example this allows Thundurus to survive Icicle Crash from Mamoswine with choice scarf. Thunder wave is my favorite move on Thundurus because it cripples any threat to my team.
Weavile@Focus Sash
Nature-Jolly
Ability-Pickpocket
4hp/252Atk/252Spe
-Fake Out
-Night Slash
-Ice Punch
-Brick Break
Weavile is my premier fake out user for the team. What sets it apart from the rest of the team is its typing. This typing is very useful for the team as it can nail dragons and psychics namely Latios. It can also one shot t-tar which is really nice. It is a strong backbone for my team, I can re-lie on it in pressurus situations. It can come in fake out the threat while my other pokemon takes it out.
Rotom-W@Choice Specs
4hp/252SpA/252Spe
-Hydro Pump
-Thunder
-Hidden Power Ice
-Trick
I have always thought Rotom was a bad @$$ pokemon since its introduction in D/P and I am now just finally giving it a shot in one of my VGC teams. I have not yet tested it much but when I have it works out pretty well. I usually wont trick my specs but I will go for Thunder most of the time. Rotom was my first SHINYMON of all time (I<3U RNG) so I figured id pay my re-specs (pun intended) by putting it on my team. Its speed is kindve a problem making sure it cant sweep right through teams. I chose Choice specs tho because tricking on a scarf could bite me in the butt.
FOR MY LAST GUY I'M DEBATING BETWEEN TWO POKEMON
Hitmontop@Fighting Gem
Nature-Adamant
Ability- Intimidate
252hp/252Atk/4spe
-Fake Out (LOVE THIS MOVE)
-Close Combat
-Sucker Punch
-Wide Guard
I am considering Hitmontop because it is a good counter to Ferrothorn threatening a OHKO. Ferrothorn has always been a problem but not anymore I guess. Hitmontop is also a great partner to Weavile because of its Wide Guard. It can protect weavile from Rockslide and with intimidate support can help Weavile defensively.
OR Ferrothorn@Leftovers
Nature-Relaxed
Ability-Iron Barbs
252 hp/148 Def/108 SpD
-Gyro Ball
-Power Whip
-Leech Seed
-Protect
Ferrothorn has always been a good rain team pokemon and it always will be. My dad uses this pokemon and it is his favorite and my team struggles with it a lot. It is very bulky and has many good resistances. If I add this Pokemon to my team, the team will have a resistance for every type. That will be very nice because I can switch into any move that threatens one of my pokemon with relative ease. One downside to this it isn't the best idea to switch so much in VGC.
