[SET COMMENTS]

Despite poor physically defensive typing which somewhat undermines his above average base 115 defense, Sudowoodo can still force some switches, particularly in UU against the likes of Swellow, Dodrio or any Choice Banded Normal or Flying attacks. In OU, Sudowoodo's ability to force switches is almost zero, although the SpD boost from Sandstorm will grant a small number of opportunities, as will the threat of a potential Explosion. Set up a Substitute on the switch, and see what comes in.

Ghosts such as Gengar and Rotom will often be switching into Sudowoodo, due to their immunity to Sudowoodo's powerful Explosion. Putting up a Substitute encourages them to attack Sudowoodo straight upon coming in, allowing you to Sucker Punch them with minimal risk. You can also fire off powerful Focus Punches from behind your Substitute, which gets excellent coverage with both Sucker Punch (the Fighting/Dark type combination is only resisted by Heracross and Toxicroak) as well as STAB Stone Edge. The synergy between Sucker Punch and Focus Punch is the main selling point for this set; whilst one encourages your opponent to attack Sudowoodo directly, the other deters them from doing so.

Max HP is not used so that Sudowoodo's HP stat is not divisible by 4. If it was, then it would only be able to Substitute four times as opposed to five.

Sorry, relatively short set comments, but I'm not sure what else to add :s Anything I missed?

Can Earthquake be put next to Stone Edge as an option? Basically Nidoking and Toxicroak completely wall this set, however Earthquake can ko both of them.

It's a nice set, but your comments can be pretty awkward and jarring at times. Fixes:

Despite Sudowodo's rock-typing, which only offers a myriad of physical weaknesses, its above average base 115 defense, allows Sudowoodo to still force some switches. In the UU environment, Sudowoodo will enjoy setting up substitutes, against the likes of Swellow, Dodrio or any Choice Banded Normal or Flying attacks. In OU, Sudowoodo's ability to get a free turn is almost zero, although the SpD boost from Sandstorm will grant a small number of opportunities, as will the threat of a potential Explosion.

- Reworded a few sentences, mostly good.

- Nice paragraph, though maybe mention how it does against UU Walls? Meganium, Vileplume, Blastoise, etc.

Max HP is not used so that Sudowoodo's HP stat is not divisible by 4. If it was, then it would only be able to Substitute four times as opposed to five.

- The last paragraph isn't really neccessary as Lefties will allow you to Sub down more than four times (unless Hail is active).

It's a nice set, but your ccomments can be pretty awkward and jarring at times.

I agree. Train Man's rewrites sound much better.

If you decide to keep that last part, "was" should be "were". Like this:

Max HP is not used so that Sudowoodo's HP stat is not divisible by 4. If it were, then it would only be able to Substitute four times as opposed to five.

I'm not seeing what Sudowoodo really gains by using Focus Punch. I'm assuming you have actually this set, so when is Focus Punch/Stone Edge/Sucker Punch a better combination than Earthquake/Wood Hammer/Stone Edge?

Unless this is for OU, Focus Punch is indeed useless. While you may argue CC is effective, it only is thanks to STAB, but then again, what does it hit that Earthqauke can't?

In UU, there are too many Poison, Ghost and Flying types. Hell, even Psychic are common. Earthquake is a better option than Focus Punch for the UU metagame, so perhaps:

[SET]
name: Sub-Attacker (?)
move 1: Substitute
move 2: Earthquake / Focus Punch
move 3: Sucker Punch
move 4: Stone Edge
item: Leftovers
ability: Sturdy
nature: Adamant
evs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 Def

And then, give a mention about using Focus Punch in OU and Earthquake in UU at the end.

Also, go with Train Man's fixes. It is by far the best one atm.

This post is for Aldaron's and Jrrrrrrr's purposes ...

I'm not sure on this one. I'm leaning towards deleting it - it really doesn't give Sudowoodo all that much.

actually i kind of like this set and the sudowoodo analysis is pretty lackluster as is. I would actually consider adding it at some point.

I'll wait for a few more opinions though.

It really doesn't work better than Earthquake, Wood Hammer, and Stone Edge. Earthquake - Stone Edge is better in UU by far, since CC is only used with STAB, and the every team carries 2 counters to Fighting Pokemon since they kill Clefable, and are overcentralizing the metagame. Focus Punch is only needed for Clefable, which Earthquake hits good enough already. Priority can work out well in UU, so that should be an option over Stone Edge, since you have a way to defeat Grumpig and Hypno which can wall and stall this set with relative easy otherwise.

what part of dont post until we're done don't you guys understand? read the sticky, people...

This set gets really good coverage, moves with high base power and Sudowoodo's typing gets it get a lot of free substitutes for safety. This thing has 100 base Atk people, and 150 BP Stone Edge. It's not like this set is not going to do damage to your opponent. I faced one of these the other day and it caused me a lot of trouble. Sudowoodo's big problem is that using the wrong move is devastating because of its horrible Speed and SpDef. If you use Stone Edge as Claydol comes in, you are forced to switch out. Substitute alleviates those problems. I would support adding this to the lackluster analysis, although Wood Hammer and EQ may need a mention as options in the set comments.

Very good set. I uploaded to SCMS and added in short comments about EQ/Woodhammer over Substitute in the set comments. Messed up the first time and hit add to early but this is in now.
