Gen 4 DPP OU Sun team

A fun sun team I decided to make after watching Pokéaim's DPP OU movie. Not bad, but not the best as I could've made it. Always room for improvement. Here's the team for your use.

Azelf @ Heat Rock
Ability: Levitate
Jolly nature
252+ Spd, 252 Atk, 4 SpDef
Stealth Rock
Sunny Day
Explosion
U-Turn

Azelf is one of gen 4's best rockers, next to Aerodactyl, and it gets Sunny Day so I can set up the Sun to pave way for Eggy or Ape, and the Heat Rock lets the Sun up for 8 turns. U-Turn is amazing for momentum. And if all else fails, explode on whatever is in front of you. Nothing wants to take an Explosion. Azelf's Speed is amazing, only being outsped by a handful of Pokémon and scarfers, so it will almost always get up rocks and possibly a Sunny Day if I play it right.

Heatran @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Flash Fire
Timid nature
252+ Spd, 252 SpAtk, 4 SpDef
Earth Power
Fire Blast
Flash Cannon
HP Electric

Heatran is an excellent scarfer in gen 4, and it abuses Sun. Fire Blast nukes almost everyone, especially Sun boosted. Earth Power to counter opposing Heatran which can be a nuisance against my team. Flash Cannon can be a good surprising STAB move. I picked it over Explosion since I thought that Heatran could put in a lot of work, and I already have two mons with Explosion, Eggy and Azelf, so I don't really need 3 kamikazes. HP Electric deals with Gyarados, which can be a big threat like Ttar, especially if I don't have the sun up.

Rotom-Heat @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
Modest nature
248 HP, 252+ SpAtk, 8 SpDef
Subsitute
Thunderbolt
HP Ice
Shadow Ball

Rotom-Heat is the bulk of my team. If I can get it in safely, it can set up a Sub most of the time. It also makes for a good spin-blocker, which is great since I'll need rocks to slowly cripple the opponents team for an Eggy sweep. Thunderbolt is for good measure. HP Ice for those pesky dragons (minus Kingdra) which can also be hard to deal with, especially if they set up. And I have Shadow Ball just for some nice STAB. I decided not to have Overheat like you might think, especially for a Sun team, since it does cripple Rotom after use. And I have Fire coverage on some of my other mons. Plus, it's not STAB since all Rotom forms were the Electric/Ghost type.

Exeggutor @ Life Orb (preferred)/Choice Specs
Ability: Chlorophyll
Naïve nature
252+ Spd, 252 SpAtk, 4 Atk
Explosion
Solarbeam
Psychic
HP Fire

Eggy was a force to be reckoned with back in the day. While a bit of an unconventional pick especially with Ttar being so prevalent, it can still put in a lot of work. With the Sun, it's speed is doubled, so it outspeeds everything in the OU tier, except for a scarfed Aerodactyl, which is no worry since they're usually lead or Orb. Speaking of which, Orb Eggy's Solarbeam just about obliterates everything, and in the Sun, Solarbeam doesn't need to charge, so if your opponent doesn't have weather on their side (which is highly unlikely), then Eggy just clicks Solarbeam to nuke everyone. Specs can be a good item, but it's nice just to be able to pick any move at will. Anyhow, Psychic is a nice move to have on your side. HP Fire for those pesky Steel types that think they can stop Eggy. And if it doesn't turn out well, Explosion can nuke a lot too.

Metagross @ Occa Berry
Ability: Clear Body
Careful nature
252 HP, 252+ SpDef, 4 Atk
Sunny Day
Ice Punch
Earthquake
Bullet Punch

If Azelf goes down, then of course I'm going to need a second Sun setter. Metagross can set up the Sun pretty well with it's natural defenses and typing. If I'm going to set up Sun, then I'll have to make sure that Metagross can live a boosted Fire type attack, so an Occa Berry does the job well (for one attack). The EVs are all for SpDef since It has a very good Def, and I won't have to worry about physical attackers other than something like Ape or Jirachi. Ice Punch is backup for the dragons (minus Kingdra once again). Earthquake is safety for Heatran and opposing Metagross. Bullet Punch is some nice STAB with priority.

Infernape @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Blaze
Hasty nature
252 Atk, 252+ Spd, 4 SpAtk
Overheat
Stone Edge
Close Combat
Fire Punch

Ape is here as a powerful backup sweeper, abuser of the Sun, and the answer for most if not all of Eggy's counters (such as Ttar and Metagross). My personal favorite Ape to use is Physical Based Scarf, so that's just what it is. Even with little SpAtk invested, Overheat is very powerful coming off of Ape, especially in the Sun. Stone Edge is nice coverage for Zapdos and Gyarados. Close Combat is a great move to have for Ttar and Heatran. And I have Fire Punch over Flare Blitz since Ape is a backup sweeper, and I don't want to take too much recoil so something like Ice Shard can pick Ape off. Plus, it gets boosted in the Sun, so it'll still pack a lot of punch, just not as much as Flare Blitz.

Welcome to Smogon! I'm locking your RMT for the time being as the forum rules require that you provide in-depth descriptions for each Pokemon to explain their roles. Please read the rules carefully and take a look at Team Showcase to see the level of detail we require. PM me with updated descriptions and I'll be happy to unlock this.
