Alright this is my first RMT so if it isn't absolutely correct tell me and I'll fix it. I'm not sure how to get cool pictures of the pokemon up yet with the RMT so if anyone wants to tell me how to do that for next time feel free to tell me. That said this is a team I've been playing with for about a week now and it's had some pretty decent success. The general concept of the team is boost + moxie + kill + win. There's many different ways I go about getting this set up but with no further ado here is my team.
Espeon (F) @ Light Clay
Trait: Magic Bounce
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 SAtk / 4 HP
Timid Nature
- Psyshock
- Shadow Ball
- Reflect
- Light Screen
I use a dual screen Espeon set for several reasons. The screens help me to get my dragon dances and rock polishes off without getting killed as easily. Most of my sweepers are very frail so this is invaluable to helping them get set up. If worse comes to worst Espeon can be used as a sweeper. It doesn't have any boosting moves but it still hits pretty hard between psyshock and shadow ball. Espeon lastly functions as a magic bouncer. As you'll notice I don't have a spinner on my team so I have to be careful about entry hazards. Just having Espeon alive will usually slow the opponent down or entirely scare them away from using entry hazards just because of the fact they could be bounced back. The light clay is there because it helps extend the time of the screens which almost gurantees I will get a sweeper set up under them. Espeon usually dies shortly after I get screens up which lets a sweeper switch in for free.
Salamence (M) @ Lum Berry
Trait: Moxie
EVs: 100 Spd / 252 Atk / 4 SAtk / 152 HP
Lonely Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Earthquake
- Outrage
- Fire Blast
Salamence is huge offensive threat to almost any team. After one dragon dance he outspeeds a timid nature 252 iv jolteon. The hp evs help him to survive at least one hit. I try not to switch him in on anything that is commonly known to have an ice attack because even with the hp evs and dual screens he still dies from it. Outside of ice though he can usually take at least one hit and then proceed to ohko. After about two moxie boost he becomes impossible to stop outside of priority ice shard which, unfortunately, is rather common. That said, his positives outweigh his negatives and usually he can get at least two kills if he doesn't kill the whole other team. The lum berry is great because it covers not only confusion from outrage, but it also covers the first status condition that will hit him. A lot of people will try to paralyze or burn him which lets him set up free once the lum berry negates the status condition.
Landorus-Therian (M) @ Lum Berry
Trait: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk / 248 HP / 8 Def
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Rock Polish
- Swords Dance
Landorus is my second sweeper on the team. Landorus makes a great lead against sun teams as most sun teams start off with ninetales. Ninetales is usually ohkoed by landorus so most sun teams either switch out giving me a free rock polish or swords dance depending on how fast the other team is. If ninetales stays in it usually goes for a will-o-wisp which the lum berry negates, giving me the same free turn of set up as if they had switched. The only issue against sun teams is an overheat ninetales. I've only seen one, but under the sun it managed to ohko my landorus and losing a sweeper early in the match doesn't help my team at all. Against teams other than sun I usually save him for later in the match and try to set him up against something he resists. However, his ice weakness usually hurts him bad because almost all ice moves ohko him, making him a second rather frail sweeper. Even dual screens don't always save him from an ice move. Earthquake is a standard STAB move on landorus and stone edge is a common coverage plus powerful rock move on him that lets me hit things that I can't hit with earthquake. Its accuracy has killed me many times though when it misses.
Scizor (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Technician
EVs: 252 Atk / 248 HP / 8 SDef
Adamant Nature
- Bullet Punch
- Bug Bite
- Swords Dance
- Substitute
I love this scizor set. It has enough damage just off of STAB and technician to kill weakened opponents while allowing me the opportunity to set up on opponents and sweep with him. Scizor started out as a standard choice band set but I've found this set works a lot better. Opposing Ferrothorns make perfect set up bait as they usually will try a status move or leech seed the turn I sub, then will try to attack the second turn which doesn't break the sub. This gives me two free swords dances which make bullet punch absolutely lethal. Bullet punch at 3x with technician and stab damage will rip through anything that doesn't resist it. Rain teams do usually have a lot of things that resist bullet punch and this causes problems for my scizor sweep. Bug bite gives me a more powerful move against the things on rain teams that resist steel punch like politoed, but bug bite doesn't always get the kill so I'm open to new move suggestions here. Scizors resistance to ice helps provide some support for my other sweepers on the team and his steel typing helps me deal with physical attacks as well. He is the only priority user on the team though so it is important he lives the majority of the match.
Gyarados (M) @ Lum Berry
Trait: Moxie
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 Atk / 4 SDef
Adamant Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Waterfall
Gyarados is yet another one of my sweepers, but he is the one I'm most considering changing right now. Electric attacks ruin Gyarados extremely quickly. If I predict an electric attack I can switch to Landorus freely and hopefully get a free turn of set up. Gyarados usually can manage to take a hit and get a dragon dance off and sweep. That's the main concept of my team is moxie sweeping. Waterfall is a great STAB. Earthquake hits electric types hard. Stone edge is extra coverage although I'm open to changing it. Gyarados after a dragon dance will outspeed timid 252 ev jolteon which would otherwise ohko him. He's the only one of flying sweepers that doesn't take super effective from ice, but he doesn't resist either. Gyarados is useful in setting up on rain teams politoed's as politoed can't easily kill him. However, he will still get toxiced the second turn after his lum berry is gone or perish songed which isn't beneficial. He can not one hit ko politoed and this really hurts him setting up on rain teams which are otherwise very easy for him to handle if he somehow manages to take out polited.
Magnezone @ Leftovers
Trait: Magnet Pull
EVs: 252 SAtk / 248 HP / 4 SDef / 4 Def
Modest Nature
- Substitute
- Thunderbolt
- Charge Beam
- Hidden Power [Ice]
The final member of my team is magnezone. This wouldn't be a drag mag offense team without one. As you probably noticed, I like to have sets that can sweep and this one can definitely manage almost two kills every switch in. I usually send him in on ferrothorns or scizors. Get behind the sub and use charge beam to boost my spatk. Then I will kill the steel type opposing him and usually I will be able to hit whatever they send it next hard with the spatk boost from behind the sub. Hidden power ice is there because mono dragon teams have ruined me multiple times and he is all I have to stop them. Leftovers is there to extend it's longevity against steel types and help it set up better.
Well that's my team. I don't usually win 6-0 with them but I manage to get one or two things set up and sweep with this team. It does have some major weaknesses though and that is why I am posting it here. I'll list just a few that I've personally encountered.
Rotom-Wash- Rotom-Wash has great defense. I usually can't one hit it with anything except when I'm in a moxie sweep. It can easily dispatch gyarados and I have nothing that can easily kill it. I usually have to wear these down over time if I want to kill them. Trick can cripple my sweepers if I'm still setting them up when it's in as it usually tricks choice specs on them and most of my sweepers are physical attackers.
Starmie- This thing can ruin my whole team. It can carry ice beam and thunderbolt and with base 115 speed none of my sweepers outspeed it without a boost. Bulky starmie are difficult for me to kill and the fast ones enjoy killing gyarados, landorus, and salamence when they are played correctly. My best chance against them is a shadow ball from Espeon which they outspeed most of the time and proceed to kill.
Cloyster- Let's be honest, no one enjoys dealing with a shell smash cloyster. None of my sweepers can even bring it down to the sash if it has one, and white herb ones are even more of a problem since they don't get the defense drop. My best counter for them is scizor with bullet punch which isn't always a guaranteed kill. If cloyster kills scizor and magnezone the game is over.
Mono Dragon Teams- These aren't extremely common but my only resistances are scizor and magnezone. Neither of which like fire moves. Most mono dragon teams have a scared dragon which also helps them run through my sweepers since they are mostly frail.
Well that's my team. I hope you guys like it and I hope I can get some suggestions so I can improve it and give you guys a great team to try out on RMT next time. This team usually works pretty decently but it obviously has its flaws. Thanks in advance to everyone who rates.
Espeon (F) @ Light Clay
Trait: Magic Bounce
