dragapult.gif.m.1771754030

Type: :draco-plate: :spooky-plate:
Base Stats: 88 HP / 120 ATK / 75 DEF / 100 SPA / 75 SPDEF / 142 SPE
Abilities: Clear Body, Infiltrator, Cursed Body

Notable Moves:
Curse
Draco Meteor
Dragon Darts
Fire Blast
Flamethrower
Hex
Shadow Ball
Thunderbolt
Thunder Wave
U-turn
Will-O-Wisp

Pros:
+
An incredible STAB combo, which is near unresisted
+ Unrivaled speed tier at 142, which allows it to outspeed many important targets
+ Great at spreading status due to said speed tier and access to Will-O-Wisp and Thunder Wave
+ A solid movepool that consists of STABs, Flamethrower and U-turn for pivoting

Cons:
- Lackluster bulk, which makes trying to directly switch it in on neutral attacks difficult
- Weak to common coverage moves, like Ice Beam, Knock Off, Moonblast etc.
- While it's attack stat is alright, it has lackluster special attack which is further weakened by the removal of Choice Specs and Life Orb

Potential set
Offensive Pivot (Dragapult) @ Leftovers
Ability: Infiltrator
Tera Type: Dragon
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Hasty / Naive Nature
- Dragon Darts
- Hex
- Will-O-Wisp / Thunder Wave
- U-turn

Dragapult attempts to act as a pivot with it's excellent typing and incredible speed tier, along with access to U-turn. While a Pokemon is statused, Hex can be pretty powerful. Will-O-Wisp cripples physical sweepers like Kingambit and Lopunny-Mega. Thunder Wave instead can be used to paralyze fast Pokemon like Mega Charizard-Y and Alakazam-Mega.

Teammates

Pain Split/Psychic Noise :hatterene: is a key partner for Dragapult as it can chip down its checks on the special side.

Slow pivots like :scizor:, :slowking:, and :primarina: are heavily appreciated due to Dragapult's frail bulk, which allows it to get on the field safely. It safely gives it a chance to spread Will-O-Wisp against bulky physical attackers.

:lopunny-mega: and :dragapult: serve as great partners as Mega Lopunny checks Dark-types like :kingambit: and :weavile: with the Normal typing giving it a immunity to Ghost, which Dragapult is weak to. Dragapult's fighting immunity also makes it a good predicted switch-in to Fighting-types moves which Mega Lopunny would normally be weak to.

Priority users such as :weavile: and :scizor: help counter revenge killers like :meowscarada:, which Dragapult usually dislikes. With Stealth Rock on the field, Knock Off from the former 2 can also help Dragapult farm KOs easier via entry hazard damage.

Checks and Counters

:kingambit: :absol-mega: :weavile: :greninja:

Dark-types are easily able to threaten Dragapult with their STAB moves. Kingambit can easily stop Dragapult via STAB Sucker Punch if predicted correctly. Weavile and Mega Absol also threaten it with their priority moves like STAB Ice Shard for the former, as is Greninja with STAB Dark Pulse. 3 of them must be cautious of Will-O-Wisp though.

:clefable: :floette-mega: :meganium-mega: :tinkaton:
Bulky Fairy-types are able to take a boosted Hex/Shadow Ball and in return, threaten it back with their STAB moves. Tinkaton should be wary of Flamethrower/Fire Blast when it is running mixed sets. Mega Floette is also able to safely set up against Dragapult while shrugging off it's STAB moves.

:meowscarada: (triple axel) :scizor: :scizor-mega: :greninja: (:choice-scarf: or protean shadow sneak)
Faster revenge killers easily can either force out Dragapult to threaten it with great priority. When Scarfed, Meowscarada can easily threaten it with STAB Triple Axel, and STAB Technician boosted Bullet Punch from Scizor can make Dragapult have a rough time, especially when it is not burned.

In my experience, mons such as pain split, psychic noise hatterene can be good partners for dragapult as they can chip down their checks on the special side. However no specs or band on dragapult hurts its wallbreaking sets however life orb is still very strong
