SS OU Dragapult's Nest (Banded Dragapault Team)

Introduction
download-4.jpg

Hello RMT I am PokyKenny And today I'll be showing you a themed Banded Dragapault Team! I realized that Dragapault was on the rise especially Specs Dragapault so I decided to do a BANDED Dragapault team because you have to be odd to be #1 :) Also, this is the second team I made but the first one is trash. This is also my second RMT my first one was locked because I didn't read the rules (I hope I did on this one;-;) Well let's began.

Team Building Process

I started with Dragapult because Dragapults are on the rise and they are very fast and powerful, and They are soooo cute :)

Then I needed a guard for the nest for the cute babies and what are the most powerful types? It's Dragon so I needed to bring out THE PINK BLOB Clefable she would kill all the Dragons type in there and be Specially Defensive.

Then I wanted a Scout/Rock setter and I thought a Landorus Therian will be perfect because it can do both :)

Then we need an Enemy in a story RIGHT????? So I decided to bring the might dragon KYUREM so that everyone will fear the MIGHTY DRAGON!!!!

Then I wanted a guard near the lake they live in. If you guessed a Gastrodon you are totally wrong because it's slow bro! (Let's don't talk about how Slowbro lives in the ocean because I needed something physically bulky and also something that fit the meta;-;)

Then I had a slot left and I noticed The Pink BLOB needed reinforcement so I added Melmetal over Kartana because Melmetal had a better defense stat.

Dragapult @ Choice Band
Ability: Infiltrator
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Dragon Darts
- Sucker Punch
- U-turn
- Steel Wing

So The Mother Of the nest Dragapult! It is obviously a Banded one because I'm Cool I didn't know what nature to put either timid or adamant but I am currently using an adamant one to increase the power. I added Dragon Darts for a Dragon Stab attack. I added sucker punch because well 1. Since I'm not using a Timid Dragapult I get Destroyed by a timid spec dragapult so for priority I chose Sucker Punch and Yes It does OHKO other dragapults unless it has a weird EV. U-Turn Is there so I can maybe handle the psychic roaming around there and for switching. I chose steel wing for the last spot so I can somewhat handle a Clefable in a bad situation.

Clefable @ Leftovers
Ability: Unaware
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Soft-Boiled
- Moonblast
- Thunder Wave
- Calm Mind
Now We have the guard of the nest The Mighty Pink Blob. I wanted it to be a specially defensive one so I added max SPD. My first move is obviously soft-boiled for recovery. My second move was Moonblast So I can actually hit other dragon types. Thunder wave is their instead of toxic because I feel like I needed a speed control mon on pokemon like scarf. Calm mind is my last move because I didn't know what else to put and I wanted a boosting move so I chose calm mind. I chose leftover for recovery too :)

Landorus-Therian (M) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 SpD / 4 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Defog
- Knock Off
Here I have the scout and the hazard setter for my team! I choice scarf so I can outspeed almost all non-scarfed mons. Stealth rock is there so well I can set up the hazard and defog to get rid of the rock. I have earthquake here for a good stab move and to hit toxapexes that are in the tier.

Kyurem @ Choice Specs
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Freeze-Dry
- Draco Meteor
- Focus Blast
- Earth Power

Next up we have Kyurem the mighty monster in the story! Have you heard of the scary story of Kyurem well if you hsvn't here Scary Story Of Kyurem back to the team it was hard to choose either a specs or a boots kyurem because kyurem looses %25 percent per rock but still I had lando to get rid of the spikes so I chose specs! freezedry is their instead of icebeam so that I can hit mons like gastrodon hard. Draco meteor is their for its amazing power + Stab. Focus Blast is there so I can hit stuff like ferrothorn. Earthpower is their for mons like toxapex and other pokemons that are weak against ground.

Slowbro @ Leftovers
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpA
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Future Sight
- Slack Off
- Teleport
- Scald

Melmetal @ Life Orb
Ability: Iron Fist
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Double Iron Bash
- Superpower
- Earthquake
- Ice Punch

Melmetal is the reinforcement of Clefable. I chose life orb for great power. Double Iron Bash is their for a very good Stab steel. I chose superpower over thunderpunch so I can handle mons like Blissey and Chansey. Earthquake is for poison types in the teir and Melmetal is Pergec because it's immune to poison And finally Ice Punch Is their for like dragonite that are on the rise and landorus-therian and garchomp.

I really think its necessary for Melmetal to carry thunder punch. Without it the metal birds wall you really hard so I suggest replacing ice punch with thunderpunch. apart from that pretty cool and unique team!
Thunder punch doesn’t even beat them though they can just roost, I personally prefer ice punch. Also melmetal should be banded because that life orb chip isn’t good for someone like melmetal

I agree, either choice band for raw power or assault vest for extra Sdef are better items for melmetal. I would get rid of choice scarf on landorus, as since you only put scarf of offensive sets with u-turn. HD boots to better deal with stealth rocks, is a good option, or leftovers for recovery.

But I think AV has fallen off a lot. You can run either band or protective pads imo

:dragapult:
Choice Band Dragapult is absolutely heat, but you MUST either run Jolly and outspeed Koko, or have a reliable answer to it. Koko ain't taking chip from rocks because it always run HDB and outspeeds everything on your team (more on scarf lando later). Also, Steel Wing is pathetic and the only Fairy type it hits supereffectively is Clefable with 140 Base Power (70x2). I would just use Phantom Force over it, with STAB it reaches 135 BP, so the damage output is similar, plus it hits Fini much harder. The only scenario when Steel Wing would be useful is against Tyranitar+Clefable matchups.
Speaking of Koko, Jolly Phantom Force deals A LOT of damage to it:
252 Atk Choice Band Dragapult Phantom Force vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Tapu Koko: 238-282 (84.6 - 100.3%) -- 6.3% chance to OHKO --> after a single U-turn, Koko is toast.
I would personally run Jolly on any Pult due to how invaluable it is to be faster than Koko. You could run some bulk on your Pult, too, but if you want to keep the speed tie chance in 1v1s is absolutely fine.

Dragapult @ Choice Band
Ability: Infiltrator
EVs: 96 HP / 252 Atk / 160 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Dragon Darts
- U-turn
- Phantom Force
- Sucker Punch

---

:melmetal:
To utilize a suboptimal pult set, you need to be aware of its weaknesses, and steel types are the biggest ones. Melmetal and Pult already sinergyze well due to melm offensively checking clef, kyurem and lele, but LO wastes the potential of this sinergy. As already suggested, I would much rather use this set:

Melmetal @ Protective Pads
Ability: Iron Fist
EVs: 40 HP / 252 Atk / 104 SpD / 112 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Double Iron Bash
- Thunder Punch
- Superpower
- Thunder Wave

Thunder wave is not entirely necessary as this isn't hex pult, but it still greatly helps in dealing with skarm/corvi for example. tpunch + pads + twave is an amazing combination that puts a lot of pressure on the metal birds and other melmetal switchins like slowbro. dib + speed also pressures phys def hippo and tangrowth (twave here also helps), another counter to cb pult and overall these two abuse the rise of spdef hippo due to specs pult's overwhelming popularity. finally, melmetal and pult together break down sturdy ground types like chomp and lando-t for one another, so you don't really need ice punch.

---

:slowking: > :slowbro: king is better suited for this meta, bro does much better against shifu which is a threat to this team. this team really appreciates teleport, so funky av slowbros are out of the question for me. I would probably just use a Slowking with a bit more defense evs since melmetal helps it with lele/kyurem and also clef with kyurem. slowbro loses to almost every relevant physical attacker anyway so its niche is a bit worse now. also, you want to fit ice beam on slowbro to handle sd chomps more reliably but you can't forgo either scald or fs. Just use Slowking.

Slowking @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 76 Def / 180 SpD
Sassy Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Teleport
- Future Sight
- Scald
- Slack Off

this spread takes two moonblasts from specs lele and two cc/strikes from shifu from full hp.

---

:landorus-therian:
straight to the point: scarf lando w rocks and defog is terrible, especially with that cursed ev spread lol
just use defensive lando and gg

Landorus-Therian (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 248 HP / 128 Def / 44 SpD / 88 Spe
Impish Nature
- Defog
- Earthquake
- Toxic
- Knock Off

speed for adamant bisharp as you struggle against it, spdef to avoid 3hko from koko's gleam w leftovers, rest in defense for insurance against zera and chomp. also, you have clefable which is a perfectly capable rocker so don't overload lando with tasks, just stick with defog. toxic+knock off pressures a lot of common switchins and helps wear down the opposing team. pult's fast uturn and slowking's slow teleport should be enough momentum for kyurem and melmetal.

---

:clefable:
as you even admitted, you don't have much use for calm mind anyway so just go for stealth rock. spread and other moves are ok, maybe trick+sticky barb can be useful but not mandatory. flamethrower>thunder wave helps pult, kyurem and melmetal a lot. in the spread i put some extra speed evs for other clefs and random univested ttars, just for insurance.

---

:kyurem:
please run ice beam as well as freeze dry. kyurem is so popular because of how strong and spammable its ice type moves are. i'm dropping focus blast because it misses. i dont wanna deal with that. i prefere modest because of power but you can run timid and be absolutely fine.
