ORAS OU DragMag Offense ft. Mega Metagross

Small Intro

Most of OU subforum guys know me because I ask a lot of info about specefic mons in general, that's because I tend to build a lot of teams but many of them are garbage or unfinished, this is one of the few semi-decent squads (by semi-decent I mean it got over 1490 on the ladder) I got, so I'd know how can improve it.

This team is particulary new as I just started building it in today's morning but it got a lot more success than anything I have built before, so I thought it would be worthy of making an RMT.

The Team

I started with Dragonite because IMO is a very underrated wincon that has good cleaning capabilities and the advantage of being harder to revenge kill when boosted thanks to Extreme Speed.

149.png
p4uPcqX.png

Looking at what could support Dragonite I choosed to make a core with Mega-Metagross because they have great type synergy, Metagross is able to beat just about any relevant fairy / rock / ice type mon while walling other dragons, it also serves as a great wallbreaker that can overwhelm physical walls.

Both Dragonite and Metagross hated dealing with defensive steel types, I did not look for more and went with the classic Magnezone, it can also revenge kill some offensive water types that can be very annoying to deal with.

I needed some sort of hazard removal and extra fire power, Latios would seem to make a better fit than Latias but I picked her over Latios because is better at dealing with Electrics wich are a pain for this team.

I added Landorus-T because I wanted a solid glue with rocks, picked it over garchomp to avoid stacking a weakness to fairy types.

Last thing Azumarill fixes most of the team lacks, but most importantly, it checks weavile, wich is a MASSIVE threat, it also gives the team the greatly needs to actually break stuff, and it can perform a nice Dragon-Fairy-Steel core with Nite and Gross respectively.

Ability: Multiscale
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Dragon Claw
- Extreme Speed
- Earthquake
- Dragon Dance

Like I said, I started with dragonite as a win condition, so most of the team is meant to support it, I picked Dragon Claw over Outrage because is a lot more reliable, Earthquake is used over Fire punch to hit Heatran reliably, however Fire Punch is still good because the team can be somewhat overreliant on Mag to deal with steel types.

Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Meteor Mash
- Zen Headbutt
- Hammer Arm
- Grass Knot

I added Metagross because is the best Fairy killer in OU and also one of the best wallbreakers in the tier, the set is fairly standard with Grass Knot being there to lure Slowbro, Quagsire and Hippowdon who can be very annoying Dragonite, watch out for paralysis, as this team is reliant on Metagross speed to be deal actual pressure vs offense and you dont want your main fairy check completely shut down, this is particulary crucial vs Mega Gardevoir builds because they kind of auto win if metagross is paralyzed.

Ability: Magnet Pull
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Thunderbolt
- Volt Switch
- Flash Cannon
- Hidden Power [Fire]

Magenzone traps annoying steel types, I tried using the specs set wich hitted like a truck and could seem very appealing here, but I lost to a faster Mega Scizor so I'd reccomend to stick to this set unless you want to run HP Fire on Latias, outside of that Magnezone also revenge kills Keldeo and Mega Charizard-Y, but the real target is of this is Mega Diancie as it can easily deal with my Dragons.

Bag_Life_Orb_Sprite.png

Ability: Levitate
EVs: 72 HP / 184 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Psyshock
- Defog
- Recover

Hazard removal for Dragonite was needed and I picked Latias over Latios because Electrics can be a huge pain for this team when Dragonite is unboosted, it also serves as my primary Zard Y and Keldeo switch in, this set fits the team needings mostly but HP Fire still an option, altough that would make the team weaker to electrics if is ran over Recover and dropping Psyshock leaves me really open to Mega Venusaur or Double Dance Terrakion.

Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 248 HP / 220 Def / 32 SpD / 8 Spe
Impish Nature
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Stealth Rock
- Knock Off

I needed an stealth rock user and a glue, I picked Lando over Garchomp because of intimidate and knock off, the EV Spread allows me to survive a Draco Meteor from Latios at Full HP so I can get more Rocks or Knock Off its Life Orb, Knock Off can be pretty useful on this particular lando as it removes Scarves from Keldeo who love switching into him, thus avoiding them from Revenge Killing Dragonite or Metagross, not to mention bulky water without self recovery wich become a lot easier to deal with when they lose their Leftovers.

Ability: Huge Power
EVs: 172 HP / 252 Atk / 84 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Aqua Jet
- Play Rough
- Waterfall
- Knock Off

Azu was a quick fix to most of the team flaws, such as alleviating the HUGE Weavile weakness of this team, checking Excadrill, Gliscor and lot more troublesome mons, I picked Choice Band because it gives the team a huge burst in power in hitting like a truck in general, it also completes a Dragon-Fairy-Steel core with my dragons and Metagross.

Threats
184.png

461.png
Weavile: Possibly the biggest threat as it can deal massive amounts of damage just with STABS and can even mess with Azu if is one of those Poison Jab Variants, the best thing I do vs it is usually switching azumarill on a resisted hit and force it out, it can be played around and it loses to boosted Dragonite Extreme Speed after rocks damage.

663.png
Talonflame: It is very tricky to deal with but once you know the set you can take a proper action, Offensive SD Variants are checked by Landorus and they may get revenge killed by Dragonite after they a KO while Defensive Variants are roasted by Magnezone.

490.png
/
245.png
Pure Defensive Waters: They are not inmediate threats like Talon or Weavile, but they just sit there setting up their CM and are really hard to break without boosted hits from dragonite or Hax, the other water types arent as troublesome as they lose Grass Knot or are easy to overwhelm.

I used little DragMag teams, you can help the team to the weakness of water type and talon putting
manaphy.png
Mana> Magnezone
magnezone.png

- I think you can try to put Hp Fire Manaphy, is much less predictable, helps against Ferrothorn, Zor, hippo, tran, talon, also helps against bulky waters as Cune and keld using e.ball.

Relevant calcs:

+3 252 SpA Manaphy Hidden Power Fire vs. 252 HP / 168 SpD Ferrothorn: 416-492 (118.1 - 139.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO
+3 252 SpA Manaphy Energy Ball vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Suicune: 362-426 (89.6 - 105.4%) -- 37.5% chance to OHKO

- i think Rock Polish mega Metagross
metagross.png
is good, because it help against fast things like SD talon,he cant use flare blitz if you are more fast, help against weavile, mega lop which is another threat of your team especially with ice punch and healing wish support.

here some relevant calcs against talon and weav:
252+ Atk Tough Claws Mega Metagross Meteor Mash vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Weavile: 644-758 (229.1 - 269.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252+ Atk Tough Claws Mega Metagross Zen Headbutt vs. 120 HP / 0 Def Talonflame: 268-316 (81.9 - 96.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock

Metagross-Mega @ Metagrossite
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Meteor Mash
- Zen Headbutt
- Hammer Arm
- Rock Polish

Manaphy @ Leftovers
Ability: Hydration
EVs: 88 HP / 252 SpA / 168 Spe
Timid Nature
- Tail Glow
- Hidden Power [Fire]
