VGC Dragon Rain

Hello! Regulation H is here and with the legendary's kicked out, I feel like my chances of winning kinda went up! Of course my teams aren't perfect, so I would really like any help on patching up the team's holes.

pelipper.gif

Peppie (Pelipper) @ Damp Rock
Ability: Drizzle
Level: 50
Shiny: Yes
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpA
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Rain Dance
- Hurricane
- Protect
- Roost

Peppie here is where the whole team started. While hunting for a shiny Finizen (who didn't make it to this team sadly) I came across an unexpected shiny Pelipper! His main role here is too set up rain and stay alive with protect and roost. I originally had wide guard on him, but with Calyrex being out of the game I wasn't sure how often I would be coming across really dangerous spread moves.

dragonite.gif

Krayo (Dragonite) @ Assault Vest
Ability: Inner Focus
Level: 50
Shiny: Yes
Tera Type: Normal
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Hasty Nature
- Air Slash
- Draco Meteor
- Hurricane
- Extreme Speed

Krayo is made to work in and out of rain, with the powerful STAB hurricane giving him great in rain damage, and extreme speed with tera normal STAB does great with damage inside of trick room. Draco Meteor is for fellow dragon types while Air Slash flinch chance, while shaky, is pretty good, and I wanted 4 attacking moves to make use of assault vest.

grimmsnarl.gif

Beans (Grimmsnarl) @ Leftovers
Ability: Prankster
Level: 50
Shiny: Yes
Tera Type: Fairy
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Thunder Wave
- Protect
- Fake Out
- Reflect

Beans (Named after a rather convoluted train of thought about his hair and fairy tales leading me to think of into the woods and its infamous magic beans debacle of blame) is here to be as annoying as possible with prankster priority + fake out. He sets up reflect to make up for the somewhat shoddy physical defense of this team, and thunder wave is great for stopping what would outspeed Krayo.

archaludon.gif

Steely (Archaludon) @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Stamina
Level: 50
Shiny: Yes
Tera Type: Steel
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Body Press
- Electro Shot
- Protect
- Draco Meteor

Steely (originally named rocky before I thought about its typing) Is a special attacker with some really nice bulk, that lets it use body press to hit specially bulky pokemon with a physical move, especially after getting hit a few times to activate stamina and really last long. Electro shot becomes amazing in the rain and Draco Meteor is a great special move that used in conjunction with electro shot, can offset the stat penalty.

annihilape.gif

Rath (Annihilape) @ Life Orb
Ability: Defiant
Level: 50
Shiny: Yes
Tera Type: Steel
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Brick Break
- Close Combat
- Rage Fist
- Protect

For all the special attacking going on, a strong physical attacker was up next. Rath is just that, with some really strong physical moves and good speed, combined with a paralyzed opponent especially, Rath can output a lot of damage on the physical side. Plus with defiant, that pesky incineroar won't be putting Rath of the fight so easily!

sableye.gif

Whgah (Sableye) @ Covert Cloak
Ability: Prankster
Level: 50
Shiny: Yes
Tera Type: Ghost
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Will-O-Wisp
- Substitute
- Thunder Wave
- Encore

Another prankster user! Similar to Beans, Whgah (pronounced wag, or "we have Gholdengo at home" after seeing his shiny color) is an annoying prankster user. I decided to forgo fake out since Whgah is a lot frailer, going for substitute instead. Prankster Will-O-Wisp helps shut down the aforementioned physical attackers, and prankster encore is as annoying as it is useful!

I would appreciate any help in making this team better, thank you for reading!

Heyo layaboutace! I see you have a Rain team. The team is actually good, but a few Pokemon and the sets are really janky and weird. Generic Rain teams at the moment have a shared weakness, that being...

:typhlosion-hisui:+:whimsicott:
Eruption+Sunny Day. What do you do there. Grimmsnarl is actually really good here, but your missing a key component, which will be expanded upon later. Anyways, even with Dragonite and Pelipper as resists, Shadow Ball can easily deal 50% or more to them. Tera Fire Choice Specs Sun boosted Eruption is also insane.

Strong Fairies (:clefable:, :sylveon:)
You literally can't beat them. Actually, can't hit them super effectively. Clefable, with Unaware, is able to soak up hits from Archaludon while Sylveon can press Hyper Voice, which gets boosted via Pixilate.

Pokemon Changes

:dragonite: --> :basculegion:
This is the key component which was missing in the Hyphlosion matchup. Dragonite feels a bit random here, especially when you have Pelipper for the Flying-type. Most Basculegion run Choice Band, but here I think having Protect is really nice with the lack of Rillaboom for the Psyspam matchup. So here, Mystic Water is what I chose for this.

:sableye: --> :maushold:
Annihilape is SCREAMING for Maushold. Also, normally Sableye is used as a Grimmsnarl replacement, which seems prevalent here, with both being a Prankster Thunder Wave Dark-type.

Other Changes

:pelipper:
:damp rock: --> :focus sash:
Pelipper really wants Focus Sash right now, specifically since Archaludon using Electro Shot. You'll get nuked otherwise.
Rain Dance --> Tailwind/Wide Guard
Why Rain Dance? You can just switch in and out. Tailwind works as speed control while Wide Guard stops Eruption and Expanding Force, as well as Earthquake.
Roost --> Weather Ball
No Weather Ball Pelipper or no Water-type STAB on Pelipper in general is stupid. Weather Ball has the added benefit of abusing opposing weather that may override your own.
New EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpAtk+ / 252 Spe
Just a new spread for a Sash set, does maximum damage with a decent amount of speed.
Tera Water --> Tera Stellar
MAXIMUM DAMAGE TIME BAYBEE

:grimmsnarl:
:leftovers: --> :light clay:
Grimmsnarl is best as a screen setter, so you now have one! Also works nicely alongside bulky Pokemon like Archaludon and Annihilape.
Tera Fairy --> Tera Ghost
Avoids Fake Out. That's it really. You can do Tera Grass if you want to as well, resists Electro Shot and makes yoh Spore immune.
Protect --> Spirit Break
You need a way to do damage, might as well lower SpAtk to support even more!
Fake Out --> Light Screen
You just need to lean into the screens area, so Light Screen is here.
New EVs: 252 HP / 156 Def+ / 100 SpDef
Just whipped this spread up, works as a bulky spread though.

:archaludon:
:rocky helmet: --> :assault vest:
This patches up for Archaludon's rather poor SpDef stat, especially since Archaludon doesn't need Protect.
Tera Steel --> Tera Grass
Acts as a Spore immunity while also resisting Ground attacks from Pokemon like the Ursalunas.
Protect --> Flash Cannon
Since we have Assault Vest, we can't use Protect. This hits the aforementioned Fairy-types that I mentioned earlier that could be a problem.
New EVs: in the spread (you must wait)
Yeah its a faster and specially bulky spread with enough special attack where you can still snowball.

:annihilape:
:life orb: --> :leftovers:
Since the Leftovers were opened up, we can use this to make Annihilape the bulky set up Pokemon it is.
Close Combat --> Bulk Up
Set up move
Brick Break --> Drain Punch
Does similar damage while providing healing, combining well with Bulk Up boosts and Annihilape's rather bulky stat spread.
Tera Steel --> Tera Fire
Pretty much does the same thing with a burn immunity.
New EVs in the paste, but speaking of...

That's all, and as always,

Good luck and happy battling!
